Expert 1481 | Subject: RE: kaburns1214 Mentor Group 2012 Part 2 - CLOSED My wife would have a cow if I hired a coach on top of all the money I've already spent on the sport. QT2 seems awesome but isn't cheap. I need to scam a set of Zipps with a power tap and power meter first. |

Extreme Veteran 826 Bristow | Subject: RE: kaburns1214 Mentor Group 2012 Part 2 - CLOSED So I didn't get to my Master's swim. lass this morning. I only would have gotten 4 hours of sleep before the class. The 11 month old hasnt been feeling well...I tried doing the swim when this happend before and it was a horrible and I felt like it was more detrimental than it helped. Problem is now I won't be able to swim again till next Tuesday. I guess this normal and I just deal with it. Anyone else have these situations happen and is there something I can do to make up for the swim? Thanks hope everyone is having a good day. |

Master 2151 Johns Creek, Georgia | Subject: RE: kaburns1214 Mentor Group 2012 Part 2 - CLOSED Jen - DeSoto is my favorite line for tri clothing. I used to be a huge 2XU fan, but have switching over to DeSoto. Orca makes some nice things too (tops are long which I need with my height and super long torso). If you have not checked out DeSoto I highly recommend it. |

Expert 913 Lost in the Evergreens | Subject: RE: kaburns1214 Mentor Group 2012 Part 2 - CLOSED Steve - Did the story of Micah True receive must air time in NM?
Friends of the ultrarunner flew in from all over the country to assist in the search for his body. In the end, it was perhaps only fitting that a white horse led Micah True, the man known as “Caballo Blanco,” out of the remote New Mexico wilderness where he perished. Nicknamed “Caballo Blanco,” or White Horse, the 58-year-old True became a reluctant celebrity in 2009 after he was featured in the best-selling non-fiction book “Born to Run” by Christopher McDougall. True’s body was found early Saturday evening in the mountainous Gila National Forest in southwest New Mexico near the Arizona border. He had left the Wilderness Lodge and Hot Springs alone on March 27 to embark on what was expected to be a 12-mile trail run–but he never returned. The cause of True’s death is still unknown, but an autopsy is expected to be conducted this week.

Yeah tons. Pretty sad. It's amazing, but people, ever very experienced outdoors types, die every year in the Gila and the other wilderness areas around the state. |

I've heard lots of women who used to be DeSoto fans say that this and perhaps last year's line of gear doesn't fit well. I think some of the complaint though is due to the fact it doesn't cover/support the midsection well. |

I think some of the complaint though is due to the fact it doesn't cover/support the midsection well. Well, I only have 2 years ago and prior, so that might explain it. I have not tried on any recent things, but thanks for the heads up. They hold up really well so I have not had to replace anything but was getting ready to order some new tri shorts. My training buddies and I did order DeSoto custom kits last year for Wisconsin and they are awesome as far as quality, printing, and fit. Even though we didn't order the "minimum" requirement, they worked with us and we were very happy with the customer service and final product. The custom pieces are not the same as what you get off the rack. |

Master 2151 Johns Creek, Georgia | Subject: RE: kaburns1214 Mentor Group 2012 Part 2 - CLOSED Jeff - we did a lot of research on race kits. If you want a custom kit, almost all of the companies we looked up have a minimum # of pieces required. I guess with the artwork/set up it's not cost effective for them to do small batches. When we ordered from DeSoto, we only ordered a total of 10 pieces, which was way below their minimum, but my friend emailed them and they were very accommodating. They did charge us a bit more per piece because it wasn't the minimum, but in the end we each had a customized nice pair of high end tri shorts & tri top for about $150 total if I remember right. That's really not a lot more than off the rack prices unless you find a sale or last years model. They also sent samples of all sizes for us to try on prior to ordering. I would do an order with them again. We looked at Champsys, and didn't really like the fit of their stuff (the club I belong to has Champsys for their kits and I never ordered because I hate how they fit). I can't remember the others we looked at, but I think there was a thread on here that someone asked the question and there was a lot of response. If you just want a cool kit, and don't want to customize, I've always thought the Hammer Nutrition web site has some cool looking things. Or Road ID. If I think of anything else I'll let you know. |

Pro 4723 CyFair | Subject: RE: kaburns1214 Mentor Group 2012 Part 2 - CLOSED Epix has some decent stuff, I guess. Like Karen said it's hard without a minimum. If you google semi custom tri kits you get some hits. On a side note my club's Champ Sys stuff fits me well. I really hope the pad is decent.
If you're looking for off the rack stuff, Zoot's new stuff is cool. |

I usually don't but didn't know you shouldn't. So, why not? And do you go commando? I do not wear underwear under bike or tri shorts. I don't know why you would. They are made out of special material to help wick away sweat, adding a layer just seems like it would defeat the purpose of the technical fabric. And wouldn't it bunch all up? |

Master 2151 Johns Creek, Georgia | Subject: RE: kaburns1214 Mentor Group 2012 Part 2 - CLOSED I have a question too. For those that ride a trainer - I just recently started using my tri bike on the trainer, I resisted for a long time and just had my road bike set up on there. Since I'm doing a lot more trainer rides I figured I better start using the bike I'm going to race with. So, my question is, am I think only one that can't get comfortable in aero position on a trainer? I have been so uncomfortable, I have to stand up and move around, settle back down, stand up again in 10 minutes, repeat. Yet when I'm outside riding I could be aero for hours so I know it's not the set up. I'm just not comfortable on the trainer. I thought it might be the riser block I have for the front tire. I dropped it from the highest to the lowest, and that helped some but I'm still not comfortable. Anyone else get uncomfortable? |
