Comet the dog - I have to keep a list or I loose track.

Anyway I was standing in the shower this morning thinking that the house painters are there, and I ought to come home at lunch and check on them, and I raced on Saturday, and I ought to rest, and,..   and,..  and ....   Then I thought about all of you guys, and so I rode in this morning.  Thanks.  -- This is week 3 for me.  Soon it will be a habit.

Only one "commute" this week, taking my son to cub scouts.  It was a short ride, but I had the resistance training device (aka tag-a-long) hooked on, so I'm counting it.

I biked 3 of 3 days last week. Sunday was suppose to be a rest day, but I slept in too late to catch the bus, so I rode to work.

One of my co-workers tried my commute route on her day off. She decided I needed to move to the other side of work since it's uphill all the way from the District to base.  I think it's better this way. It's easier and more fun going home - as it should be.

I don't want to divert the thread, so if it's inappropriate please say so.  Here goes:

I'm starving.  When you bike to work do you eat extra?  Do you eat at work, and what do you eat at work?  just looking for ideas.  Thanks

1 on friday last week and today brings me to 5 for 50.

I'm saving 3+ a gallon but eating everything in sight LOL I'm not much for breakfast but after I get to work I eat a PBandJ and a cup o coffee. I drink a slim fast shake around 10 and then eat lunch about 1130 or 1200 usually a sub. When i get home i eat supper meat and veggies. Cereal before bed, then i start all over again the next day. I am sure i could eat better, although sometimes sandwiches are easier to fix in a rush. My problem seems to be not drinking enough h20.

Can't never did and won't ever will.

I normally eat something before I go to work - smoothie or leftovers depending on what I feel like. For work, I pack: 2 sandwiches, one PB&J, one turkey; 4-5 assorted fruits including at least 2 bananas; one can of soup; granola bar or trail mix; yogurt; instant oatmeal, grits, or cream of wheat; applesauce. I eat one sandwich and one banana before I start work. The rest of the stuff gets eaten as I feel like it. The soup and instant cereals usually stay around for a while, but I like having them so the easiest thing isn't the moral fund candy bars in the break room. If I'm working nights, I then go to the cafeteria and eat breakfast before I bike home.

I pack a big lunch bag and eat all day long. Additionally, I have a selection of Fiber One, Kashi GoLean, Grape Nuts, etc. (really, I have about 8 cereal boxes in my desk) and I keep skim milk in the fridge.

I can't really say it now with my commute only being a mile, but back when it was 16 miles, I was always hungry during the day.  I figured I never really saved any "fuel" money when I was commuting, instead of putting gas in the car, I ended up spending the money on putting food in my belly.  It does get better as your body acclimates to the regular exertion.  And you do develop some feeding habits as folks above mentioned.

Keep it going everyone!

2 more down for a total of 20/40 half way.
as far as eating yes i seem to eat more but im eating much better than i used to. before my morning commute i ussally only have a glass of milk, but when i get to work i eat some oat meal and a peice of fruit, lunch usually consists of leftovers from the night before, than i just snack till i get home. night shift i end up eating dinner with my family then head off to work. while im there i ttry to eat lite stress "try". graveyard shift has a way of making me want to binge on candy and chips from the evil vending machine, so i make sure i bring lots of healthy kinds of foods to snack on. and i leave the coins and dollar bills at home

Mornin'. My butt is a bit sore this morning, so I must have ridden the bike in... Long bike rides after your first yoga workout ever (and a strenuous one at that) suck.

Time for more coffee...

Don't know where all of you live, but June is "Denver Bike Month" and June 27 is Bike to Work Day, might be a good day for everyone to get a commuter day on the calendar.

Vacation is over - back to work. My next assignment will involve a little bit of travel this summer - not too much, but enough to put my goal of 50 rides out of reach.  I'll keep riding and logging anyway.

Bopper, I have inherited your bad luck with flats. We blew a tire driving to Atlanta last week. This morning on the way to work, my rear tire went flat. Luckily, it was a slow leak. I re-inflated and made it to work, then changed the tire at lunchtime.

My commutes for this week are done. I've got kid duty both tomorrow and Friday. I got 2 commutes in this week and I'm 13/48 overall.

Add me to the flat-list this week. On Monday, I was riding my fixie when my chain slipped off and locked up my back wheel. I was going downhill about 22-24mph and went into a long skid. I wasted the tire, but somehow the tube didn't pop. I tried to patch in inside of the tire, but only made it 4 more miles before it went kaboom.

So, in my commute history, this was my first on-road repair/flat and it took me 2570 miles to get it. Today on my ride to work, I flatted on my tri bike 8 miles in. This time it was just a normal tube change and I was on my way.
