Harry's plan it is then.

Meet at TTL at 6 ready to ride at 6:15 then??  Be packing food and water for a long ride!!  (Or at least bring some moola for a QT stop along the way if necessary)

Just incase it's not clear.....meet in that same parking lot on the NE corner of Rio Salado and Ash down at Temp Town Lake.

LAST MINUTE CHANGE!!!

There's an Oktoberfest occupying the parking lot at Tempe Beach park. We'll attempt to park over at the Tempe Center for the Arts at Rio Salado and Hardy.

The Oktoberfest is charging for parking there later in the morning, but I asked them on the way out tonight. They said they won't be there until 9 or 10AM. We should be ok if we're already there when they start.

I will not be there this week as I am preparing for the Rock and Roll San Jose next weekend. My friend Ken is planning to be there for the ride. I told him the original location and he may not know of the new meeting location.

Hopefully, someone can look out for him tomorrow.

SUNDAY OCT 14TH

I know some people are doing PBR this day (Good luck everybody!!!) but as I go into SOMA taper mode, and prepare for being out of town the 6 days prior to the race, I need to get some stuff done this weekend, and need to tailor my weekend workout to help me accomplish all that.

I would like to do a 1 hr bike ride followed by a 1 hr run right afterward.  I really am just looking for the "brick" aspect of this, and focusing on the run after the bike.  For anyone not doing PBR and who is looking for a non-extreme brick.....I would like to propose the following:

6:30 AM Sunday Oct 14th. Meet in the Water Park/Riparian Preserve parking lot (just east of the Library parking lot) on the SE corner of Guadalupe and Greenfield.  There are nice bathroom facilities there.  I will plot out an out and back course on part of the Tour de Gilbert route that will have us ending back at the parking lot, and we can run along the canals to save our legs.  Let me know who's interested. (Might be doing this on my own...not sure of anyone else's plans, but just thought I would throw this out there).

6:30 is not set in stone, but I figured it was right when the sun came up.  I wouldn't want to go much later than 7.  The later you go, the more traffic there is.  I had enough traffic to last a life time last week!

Running the cactus chacha on Saturday, so probably not doing the brick, but might do the bike...maybe a mini-brick.

After missing last weekend, I REALLY need to go Sunday and even do a Brick if that's an option.  I'm coming home from the stupid wedding Saturday so I can be here for the ride on Sunday.

WELCOME TO BT!!!!

A brick is a multisport athlete term for a bike-run workout. Many jokes come up as to it's meaning. I like the acronym "Bike Run It Can Kill". Other combo variations have popped up including swim-run swrick. Or our favorite swim-run-meet-back-at-the-cooler-of-beer "Swrink"

Hey Ken! Welcome to BT!!!  Sorry you missed our meeting location change last week! Now you know where to go to check for any last minute changes or info.

To expand on what Harry said regarding Bricks..... It's one thing to go for a bike ride, or to go for a run. But when your legs are jello from the bike ride, and you have to immediately start running after the bike ride (like in a Triathlon) it's a whole new ballgame. You're legs are NOT happy, and you really have to learn to push through the adjustment period, AND the more often you do bricks, the more you get used to the feeling and the easier it becomes.  So if you practice doing bricks in training, you won't have a nasty race day jello-leg shocker!!!

Just so everyone can find it...here's the parking lot....

What you are seeing is Guadalupe running West to East, and Greendfield running down North to South. So the Library is right on the SE corner, but if you continue East on Guadalupe to the second parking lot, right where this big rock says Water Park, that is the reparian preserve, and the bathrooms are right there.
