Howdy-o!

Susie, YAY on the flip turns! That's so exciting. Small steps, you'll get there. And then, maybe someday you will have the utter joy and satisfaction of slamming your ankles into the wall as you flip. Oh, maybe I shouldn't have mentioned that. Forget that, I never said a thing!

I'm doing the crappy weather challenge (and wish it started today, since I'll be running in some SERIOUSLY crappy weather tomorrow!) and the run-only challenge. Since I haven't found a race yet, I've decided that my goal for the winter is to get my 5K down to 30:00. Yeah, we can't all be hot like Joe. My other goal, that I set at the end of the summer, is to stay in good enough shape that I can enter a 5K at a moment's notice. I'm thinking of seeing if there is a Christmas morning race somewhere since I can't be with my family anyway.

bondgirl, yes, yes you are mad. Then again, so are we all. So perhaps it is your husband who is left out?

Morning people!  I have 9 little kids coming over today for a Halloween party at 1:00.  UGH!  It started out as a small playdate with two of Liam's friends from school.  Then it snowballed into 9 little brats torturing me children joining in the fun.  Say a prayer for me!!!!

Hee hee... I'm sure they will have a great time and look adorable.

I just got an invitation to a glorified playdate with some of the moms/kids from Exhibit C's class.  I really like this mom a lot.  I don't really know her all that well but she had me at Pumpkin Martinis.

I'm 7 minutes from my goal. Dude. $#!$*(!)

I was thinking about running tomorrow morning instead of swimming anyway to avoid the master's group because my arms and shoulders are tired, so that cements it.

Offthegrid - 2008-10-29 9:35 AM Do you all find treadmill much harder than outdoors? Last night's workout was tough!

I find the treadmill easier.  It keeps my pace for me, I just set it and go.  I don't have to worry about my pace dropping off like it does when I run outside.  However, I do get awful bored on the treadmill!

x2 I would rather run outside than on a treadmill. I get so bored and I feel to confined. It is good for technique work though you can watch yourself in a mirror to make sure that your posture and stride stay proper so you don't hurt yourself. I found the only way for me to run on a treadmill for any amount of time is to bring a really funny movie or tv show and watch it.

Yes and no. Mostly I am just REALLY bored on there and I think that affects how hard the work out is. Luckily I usually run at 5.30am and my brain is half asleep anyway

Pumpkin martinis? At a playdate? Um, is that legal down there in Georgia?

Glad the party went relatively well! I think the addition of alcohol pumpkin alcohol makes most things better, but maybe that's just me.

I actually really like the treadmill. I like that I can zone out and not worry about pace, I like that I can really push my pace because I don't have to worry about having enough left to get back home, I like being able to mess with the inclines, etc. I work really hard on the treadmill. I like running outside, too, but often don't seem to work as hard at it. Good to have variety, I guess!

Ugh, did NOT get my run on today. No excuse, either. I'm ticked at myself for it. Oh well, what's done is done. I'll get a fast one in tomorrow, I guess!

Are you talking about the peach challenge, or is there something else?

Theres another challenge where you commit to training 5-6 days a week for 30 mins minimum. Its run by tlnewman30.

I'm in for that one, the 5 days a week challenge.

Edited cause it wasn't clear which challenge I was talking about.

Yay I am doing that one too. Plus the peach challenge

Pumpkin Martinis? Wow It seems that pumpkin can be added to everything. I had no idea how much I was missing out on until I joined this thread! Pumpkin coffee, pumpkin fudge, and now pumpkin booze! LOL.

I had a home made pumpkin pizza last night with pine nuts and Fetta cheese. Courtesy of hubby. He is the best

Well there you go, that's one *I* hadn't heard of! Pumpkin pizza? Hmm, interesting. Was it a normal pizza crust? Was the sauce like pesto instead of tomato? I'm all intrigued now.

Or did you mean pizza?

LOL, nope, not mocking you at all.  I am surprised you didn't think of cocktails... they add a lot of enjoyment to this type of event!

I'd actually like to go to the pumpkin martini party (they are offering bloody marys, too, for those that don't love pumpkin... you know in keeping with the Halloween theme and all).  However, since my older children have extensive trick-or-treating plans and A has to be at the dance studio for at least one of her classes, I'll be busy playing chauffeur and sherpa.

LOL... I don't know about pizza with pine nuts and feta but boy, pizza with pine nuts and feta sound yummy.  Pumpkin on it?  Hmmmm... do you cook the pumpkin first and then bake the pizza?  Just trying to think about timing it all to be done at the same time.  I love pizza with spinach, artichoke hearts, feta and banana peppers on it.

I just love pizza.   pizza too but that is another story!  Might have some pizza for dinner tonight.  I made a chicken chipotle barbeque pizza the other week that was pretty good and easy too.  Might whip that up again.
