However, I generally suck at most artsy things (as you'll see from my mom's very fun birthday sign). Now I feel inclined to defend myself against myself though, so here was an exception.

This was my Valentine's gift to Cake Boy, a guy I was dating for a few years in LA. (He made beyond professional-grade cakes. On more than one occasion I saw someone take a bite of a piece of his cake, then go mad and just dig into it--the CAKE--with their fingers. People got HIGH on his cakes. No drugs or alcohol, unless it was for flavoring).

Born in the Year of the Tiger. Very much so. Here's his drawing consisting of the words to the story The Lady and the Tiger, and also William Blake's "Tyger" (not sure it's actually called that) from Songs of Innocence and Experience.

Holy sh*t. Now I'm really impressed. I'm suddenly very self conscious of the completely unartful note I sent you on college rule notebook paper.

Okay, I gotta go paste up my mom's sign. I'll post a pic when it's done.

I didn't even think about baking a cake for tomorrow, speaking of cupcakes. Well, I shall, then! That way my mom can ask for any kind of cake she likes. With my luck she's gonna say Cheesecake ...

Was this a subtle hint that you too can bake?

Am I so obviously turning shades of green?

Heh. I can cook like a mofo, which is not very impressive, esp since my bro and sis are way better, but I can also bake, which is.

You never rubbed me as the green type. Unless you count always being sick, of course But perhaps that is a different shade of green.

Baking IS impressive. I'll have nothing to do with it unless you count instant pistachio pudding.

I'll eatcher pineapple AND pistachio pudding, thankyouverymuch. Yeah, nah, not the green type. Too full o' myself

But just to balance that, here's my mom's birthday sign. Each letter is a sheet of paper.

Heh, you said it, not me. And I suppose after yesterday, maybe I can see why?

Tell Mutti I said Happy Birthday,  Marilyn Monroe style, though. Laughing

I *cherish* that letter. I have a confession to make. I carry the Manatees' cards and your note with me everywhere important (they're right here with me in Jakarta again and they travelled with me to Jogja a couple weeks ago) and otherwise they live on my bedside stand.

I haven't even gotten around to the individual thank-yous yet (much less sending return cards, but I have actually acquired them and yes they're here with me in JKT now too)! It makes me so happy just holding and shuffling and feeling them (I'm sure it would be the same in person SNERK), and I go over the moon actually opening and reading them.

I don't think we have any expectation for an individual thank you, sheesh lady. You're supposed to be resting up and enjoying your pop tarts.

Artemis - 2012-10-17 10:15 AM Morning Manatees! It's been a bit crazy for me lately.  Finally got an answer on my wrist - having surgery Friday to fix it.  Sorry I haven't been around much!

I'll be thinking of you on Friday. Speedy recovery!

Me too me three me four!

Yes. I hope the surgery goes well and the recovery goes even better.

ERMEGERD. My hot swim coach (ocean coach, Sheila is form coach) Monte got this pic of me swimming with a manta ray ... part of it is the perspective and part of it is that the mantas really were that huge.

Sharpie'd. Klassie.

All that info you'd need a sleeve

I always thought my ID would suffice. It hadn't even occurred to me to have contact info or blood type until my boss's doomsday scenario. Especially considering our already limited rights by not being married. I really should find out my blood type.

you've prob heard this before, but it doesn't really do any good to have blood type on your roadID because they will FOR SURE type and cross you NO MATTER WHAT, even if it says your type on your ID. (at least that's the case here in the good 'ol USofA).  It doesn't hurt to put it on there, but if you need the space, that could be the first thing to go...

Contact info, to me, is the most important thing. allergies to meds, significant medical history/medical devices are all important too

And totally off subject: Salt, are you in a relationship? or are you PLAYIN the field?!?  I don't hear mention of a GF or see anyone in any of the photos you post...  wait, is that too nosey?  Too late, I already asked it.

Oh. Yes. I am! I just keep her somewhat mysterious to keep things interesting. Wink

Nah, I just don't want to paste her all over the internet without her consent. She's a fairly private person unlike her worse-half.

If I were playing the field y'all would certainly know. And it probably wouldn't be pretty.

*evil German voice*
