Expert 4269 | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker Appreciation Society - Closed Another rough day... Woke up with a migraine and thought I was gonna have to miss work. But I hit the drugs hard and managed to get it 20 minutes of yoga before heading off to work. I should have stayed at home. The place is driving me nuts... I'm working with people who are so unprofessional - it makes it tough to get my work done. The fact that I only got 3 hours sleep didn't help either... On a positive note - I got in a 30 minute ride on the trainer and finished with some more yoga this evening. I also finished my educational philosophy statement for a job I'm applying for... Maybe I could move out west and work at Kevin's school. Think of all the beers I could try! Tomorrow I'm gonna get out the door early for a short run (still trying to ease into it) and then 20 minutes in the pool before work. Back at it baby! |

Veteran 706 Illinois | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker Appreciation Society - Closed I am still struggling with motivation. House shopping sucks, my mother and mother-in-law are both being difficult now, and I can't look at my running shoes or bike trainer without a feeling of dread and disgust. The weather is just on the cusp of being pleasant, but still too cruddy to do anything outside for real. I am making excuses, but I just can't bring myself to care right now. On the food side of things, this week has been okay so far, so at least I am not losing on that end. |

Hope you continue to feel better! I jinxed it...dang it! Its the same ol same ol; without being gross, I cannot be too far from the restroom. Diarrhea daily. My doc adjusted my meds thinking that was it but it has progressively gotten worst. When I run my stomach begins to burn at about mile 2 unless I try to push myself it will burn sooner. This issue has kept me out of two local 5ks. |

Veteran 238 New Mexico | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker Appreciation Society - Closed Good morning all! I haven't exactly followed my goals for the week, the strength training fell apart, but I have been getting my bikes and runs in. I am really enjoying the new bike, still getting used to it a bit, but I like it and am glad I made the purchase. It's funny at the beginning of the week I was at 208 that was after three weeks of doing nothing except my race. Now that I have begun getting my workouts in again, I weigh myself at the end of the week, and I am at 212! Oh well, I am sure the weight loss will come with time. I hope everyone has a great Easter. |

So proud of you Alex - I agree with Bobby - you are turning into Michael Phelps... Seriously - think of how far you've come since January! With all that you have fought through - most people would have quite by now. Not you - you are continuing to get stronger and I give you a lot of credit for that! |

On the food side of things, this week has been okay so far, so at least I am not losing on that end. Charles - I hear you and feel your pain. It's tough for me to believe it myself - but you need to cut yourself some slack and accept the reality of the situation - life is challenging and it can be hard to squeeze in 30 minutes to work out into an already crazy day. So, ask yourself - is there anything I could realistically do differently? and if you come up with something that could help (like only doing 20 minutes instead of 45 or getting your ride done in the morning) then do it. If not - do what you can until you've bought the house and then ride your bike like it's your job. Keep up the good work on the eating front! |

Keep it up - you are gonna have a blast during your race! Enjoy the farm and keep your eyes out for Founders Beer from Michigan (Centennial Ale/Breakfast Stout are world class - but everything is good!) - they shipped their first batch to Texas this week. You are gonna love it! |

Extreme Veteran 968 Cape Coral, FL | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker Appreciation Society - Closed MRI out of the way today. Stupid doctors office can't get me in until the 11th. Oh well. Swim lessons tomorrow morning. Knee hurt on the bike yesterday after the cleat fitting. Went back this morning and had them adjust it again. If I have any discomfort at all in the morning I am skipping the bike so I can tell if the adjustment worked or if I need to go back again. He adjusted my seat as well so I got a great fit now, well minus the cleat but he's doing a refit on them as needed. 10 minutes on the trainer didn't show any pain like 45 min did so I'll keep going til it's right. Thanks for everyone that suggested the fitting it was well worth it. |

Veteran 706 Illinois | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker Appreciation Society - Closed 29 mile trail ride on the Des Plaines River Trail. Couldn't go farther north than Townline Road, since the underpass was under 4 feet of water from the Des Plaines River. Covered in mud, fell once due to some serious ice on the trail, and for the first time in over a month I feel pretty good. Figured it deserves a picture. |

Extreme Veteran 968 Cape Coral, FL | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker Appreciation Society - Closed Swim lessons today. Was surprised to find out that the instructor said I have a great stroke. The guy next to me said it looks so effortless when I swim. It sure feels like a train wreck when I'm flailing around . One word sums up what I need: repetition. Gotta establish muscle memory. I guess it's down to endurance now. Going to try to get to the pool 4-5 days a week until the race. Slow and steady. FWIW you all here in the BDAS have been a huge reason I am doing what I am doing today. I think I would have quit and given up if it wasn't for this group pushing me and pointing out the positive changes. I am truly grateful folks....truly grateful. |

Hey Michael Phelps -kudos on the compliments about your stroke. Just goes to show that all the hard work has paid off... I've felt the same way over the past 18 months. The people in this group are fantastic about the support that they give one another. Now Alex - you're mission is to give back by becoming a mentor. You are slowly turning into a knowledible triathlete with much to offer a newbie. Don't miss the opportunity to give back. Not only will it help people who are where you were in December - but it will help motivate you as you become the veteran! And take some credit for yourself. We've lost 1/2 the group even with all the support we give one another. That says something about you!!! |

Expert 4269 | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker Appreciation Society - Closed Wow - What a beautiful day in Massachusetts! I got out for a ride and the 55 degree temps made the experience SOOOOO pleasurible! The 35 minutes I spent outside today made all the riding i did on the trainer this winter worth it (well almost!). I went to the chiro yesterday for my first adjustment. I had been hoping that all my pain would be gone - but no such luck - in fact it made it worse. However - when I woke up this morning - I noticed an improvement. Hopefully - it will continue to get better. The woman said that my hips were "incredibly" out of alignment - which was not only hurting my back - but also making my ITB issues worse. Plus, she thought that I would notice a "measurible increase in speed" once she get by arms and legs back in line, which partially accounts for how slow I've been when I had been so much quicker in HS. We shall see if that comes through. Gonna celebrate spring by eating poorly. Off to five guys to stuff my face then back home for some beers. I 'm gonna hold off on posting the weekly goal chart until we create a new BDAS for the Spring Mentor groups - but be sure to check in about how you did with last weeks goal. Happy easter and passover to you all! |
