Subject: RE: TAN #29 The case of the disappearing TANRynamite - 2008-06-19 2:36 PM I don't have a problem with people having school paid for... as long as they're not bratty about it. My buddy had his paid for, and all he does is complain. That drives me insane. I guess my thing is that I get annoyed by people who automatically say "oh you had xyz paid for, for you - you're such a spoiled brat". Esp. if they didn't come from a particularly poor family. There were plenty of kids in my town who went to state schools because their parents spent all the money on family vacations to Florida every year (seriously, who NEEDS to go to Disney every summer), etc and didn't have money left for a private college. It's called priorities...I don't feel "entitled" to much of anything. I don't make a lot of money - I invest what I do have in quality things that last, but I'm not irresponsible with my money - I could give you examples of people who are that way - like my one roommate. I love her, but she has NO sense of that sort of thing. She went to boarding school, college was paid for by Daddy, the doctor. (She did pay for grad school though) She is several thousand dollars in debt and doesn't see that spending $100 on a cotton dress by Juicy is irresponsible! And she doesn't take good care of the things she has, ya know? It's not my place to say anything and so I don't, but it really irks me that because I also happen to have some nice things, people automatically assume that I'm spoiled. I get nice crap for holidays or birthday, otherwise, I buy it myself - and that is rare. |
