Well, I decided it was time to get back on the wagon today, beer drinkers.

I pulled my a$$ off of the couch this morning and put the daughter in the stroller, and ran a 2.35 miler around the neighboorhood.

It was a long 3-4 weeks of limited to no activity.  Hunting season zapped me for working out.  Grad school is piling up.

Oh well.  This morning the fires were stoked deep within.  I will get out and work out.

My plan moving forward is to find a marathon plan to build back up to marathon miles and intensities over the winter.  When I hit the spring, I'm going to complete a good HIM plan moving towards next fall.  I think I'll try to throw 2 swims and 2 spin bike workouts in centered around 4 days of running, different distances and intensities.

I weighed in at 188 after breakfast this morning.  Got a little work to do.

Dude I am right there with you. I was 183 lbs when I left for holidays 12 days ago. Last night I was 196lbs. The beer was good but I gotta say no more for right now. There is a weight loss group going on in Tri'ing for Weight Loss. I joined up.

Anyone ever had the Kirkland brand (Costco {Sam's club for the folk back east}) 24 sampler pack.  The IPA is outstanding, but the Pale has a wierd Metalic after taste.  They also have a brown and a white something or other in it.  pretty decent.

Wow - that's a pound a day.  Sounds like you got your money's worth out of your vacation.  And that is what it's all about.  I too have weight to lose.  Stepped on the scale after a bad 5 days and had gained just about the same amount per day.  Not good.  Let's move forward together.

I haven't tried it... and unfortunately I'm not a member anymore.  Even if I was - MASS has a stupid law that chain stores - like BJ's and Sam's Club, as well as grocery stores can only sell alcohol at three of their stores and not all of them.  FUBAR!

I'm back on track diet and exercise-wise.  I managed to get a decent 10k run in yesterday although I was supposed to go 9.  Good that I didn't because I did something to to my knee and to my hamstrong.  It felt good enough today for me to get in a quick bike ride.  God, I love those crisp autumn days (did you guys get snow up there in the great white north?).

Tomorrow - with the goal of avoiding the dreadmill - I'm gonna try something different.  Instead of driving to the gym for a run and a swim, I'm gonna try to run when I wake up at 4:30.  Then when I finish, I'll drive to the gym for a swim before heading off to work.  With that said - it's time for bed.

Help me here... I'm struggling with which Iron distance race to sign up for.  Here are my two options in order of my preference

  1. Cedar Point - Rev 3
    1. The amusement park will give kids something to do
    2. Close to my hometown so my parents and brother could see me
    3. Could stay with fam.
    4. Decent weather
    5. flat
    6. Cheaper
    7. BIG Negative - My wife can't come since school will have started
  2. Ironman Louisville
    1. Could stay with friends
    2. "Dave Qua - you are an ironman" - I won't lie, I'm dying to hear these words
    3. Heidi could come
    4. More expensive
    5. BIG Negative - F@cking H@t!  Average temp in August is 88 degrees - brutal.

Thoughts?  I've got to sign up by the end of the month.

I am cheap, so I go for cheaper. Also, I am anti WTC for no real rational reason, so there is that bit.

I guess the question for you guys is how much is it worth to your family for your wife to be there.

1)Great holiday for family

2)Great weather(it`s a dry heat!)

3)Darren and myself could go on a road trip to cheer you on. Kevin could swim across the border at Osoyoos in the middle of the night. we could pick him up.

5)Flat-well for the swim at least...Laughing

Ditto that...I weigh the same but not for lack of trying.  When I did the 100 miler I wanted to know the weight difference and found I gained 6 lbs that day WTF!

Anyway, I have done some Zumba classes and tried a long run but nothing too serious...gotta get back on the wagon...feel more like I am under the wheel right now.  But then ol' mister grad school shows up, Kevin, and I feel bad because I am taking one class and it seems to be either I do my homework or work out but I can't seem to manage both.

Thank gwad I have you guys as life lines...you don't even know!

How does the Mrs.s feel about missing your race?  I know my husband likes to be there but he works weekends so he misses a lot.  That is a pretty tough decision.  Trust your gut and listen to the wifey and it will work out!

Cedar point all the way.  Find a way to hit the coasters yourself.  Those are some awesome coasters at that part.  Some of them have a pucker factor of 10.

The other one sounds hot and miserable.  You can have You're an ironman said over you in 2014 at Couer D'Alene if need be.

I did some more research, apparently I can write a letter to the provinces requesting permission to enter your fine country, and they may grant it if the business is deemed worthy. Surprised I was hoping to do IMCA before they moved it, but now I may be locked into IMCDA.

I think the idea of the three of us cheering David on is hilariously good.  The cool thing of Penticton is that it's an out and back so we'd have more time to drink while he's on the s/b/r portions of the race.

Grad school still sucks.

I'm back on the weight loss trail.  186.7 this morning.  skipped my "sit and be fit" video this morning and opted for the 30 minutes of extra rest.  b/r tomorrow morning or just a run, depending on the weather.

Wife just told me we're having #3 last night.  That was a surpriseSmile

2013 Goals:  (these are pushing me from now to then)

:50 minute or bust Bloomsday 12k run

3:20:00 or Bust Windermere Marathon in May

5:00:00 or bust HIM next fall.

Weigh in at 155 for fall HIM.

Love the idea of coming out for a race.  So much so that I actually looked up the race on-line.  The thing costs 625 in canada money... Couldn't I just send in some monopoly money and see what happens...Laughing

As much as I love the idea of getting together - it won't work with HQ's schedule.  Damn - One of these days we will have to get together for the race.

Got in a swim and a run this morning.  Allowed me to have a Harpoon IPA with a nice burger tonight.

Down to 185.4 this morning.  It's good to see it coming off so early in the game.

logged a 4 mile easy run this morning.  nothing easy about that 4 miles.  I'm pretty sore.

yeah I am down to 190, so that is 6 pounds in 3 days, which makes me happy. Clearly just getting rid of the salt.

Congrats on the weight loss gentlemen!  I will have a beer in your honor!

I had a nice ride today - really tried not to push it but I couldn't help it.  It was out and back and I flew down the hills.  While I was pleased with the time, I look forward to the day when I can crank out 17-18 miles in an hour.  Sure, I want to be faster - but to be honest, a faster ride = more beer.

While watching game 1 of the world series, I enjoyed: 1) Shipyard Blueberry Porter (great balance of blueberry and chocolate malts), 2) Jacks Abby's (A local brewery) Pumpkin beer, and an IPA from a brewery in South Carolina made with Brett.  Life is good!

Holy Crap!!!  That is AWESOME!

Congrats to you both!  We have three and I've got to say - the third is a gift!  I hope your son/daughter brings you as much happiness as Kate has brought to me and Heidi.  The next beer is in her/his honor!

2013 Goals:  (these are pushing me from now to then)

:50 minute or bust Bloomsday 12k run

3:20:00 or Bust Windermere Marathon in May
That's a 12 minute improvement right - that's totally doable!

5:00:00 or bust HIM next fall.
While I think this is the more challenging goal - I also think you can do it.  Reaching your weight loss goal is sure to help.

Question - I thought your were thinking IM this fall - is the change because of the kid?  If so, I think that's a good call.  My wife is already talking about the fact that she is never going to see me.

Weigh in at 155 for fall HIM.
Double or nothing?

Due to my son's doctor's appointment and conferences in the afternoon, I had to squeeze in my run before work.  I had the bright idea to do it on the treadmill... Gotta say - that was one hell of a dumb idea.  I've never gone that far on the dreadmill and I won't make that mistake again!

However, the long run is done and I was pleased with the results.  Sure, I'm not Kevin, DH or Thor - but I got the job done.  Now I just gotta figure out a goal for the HM - When I ran 13 miles in preparation for my HIM - I clocked a 2:29 time and that was during my toughest week... I bet I could beat that by a couple minutes.  hmm.

All right - Gotta go tuck my 12 year old in... I wonder how long it will be before he doesn't ask to be tucked in - better enjoy it while I can.

Night!

Yeah, that is the truth! Take any extra hugs/bedtime delays that they request because I imagine they are going disappear sooner than later...
