Pro 4723 CyFair | Subject: RE: kaburns1214 Mentor Group 2012 - CLOSED You acclimate. The humidity started to set in here a few weeks ago. It took about 2 weeks for me to readjust. Ofcourse it's 100% humidity here 8 months out of the year. |

Expert 1121 | Subject: RE: kaburns1214 Mentor Group 2012 - CLOSED I was cleared a couple weeks back. Believe me, I asked "are you sure" he said absolutely. You are 4 weeks ahead of schedule with gaining your strength back. And he also said "that does not mean you can start swimming". I'll say this though,y shoulder still still hurts even after a road or trainer ride. I have to ice it each time. Still having neck issues. MRI hopefully next week on that since it won't go away. |

Master 2151 Johns Creek, Georgia | Subject: RE: kaburns1214 Mentor Group 2012 - CLOSED Humidity sucks! I've never acclimated to it, and don't expect I ever will. Saddle - I have a Selle Italia Diva Gel Flo and love it! Expensive, but I'd pay triple for this thing. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0063W7HKK/ref=pd_lpo_k2_dp_sr_2?pf_rd_p=486539851&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe-1&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=B001VEIYZC&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=16HNKXYC5CE0RECACVFQ I also found that less padded shorts are better for me. I don't wear bike shorts at all, just tri shorts with a thinner pad. I've heard that from several of my training buddies, none of us like thicker padding. Training Time / Spouse Support - I'm very lucky, my husband is all over my training and racing schedule. He's already planning out my IM for 2013 & 2014. I'm not sure I'm on board though. I'd gladly take over sherpa duties for a while, but he prefers to sign me up for races. So it's hot hot hot here. I'm with Carrie - worried about what summer will bring. I was happy all winter not having to turn on the heat ($$$), but I don't want an extra hot & humid summer. |

Master 2151 Johns Creek, Georgia | Subject: RE: kaburns1214 Mentor Group 2012 - CLOSED Decent swim this morning. And a nice surprise to find a training buddy swimming also. That never happens. I did 250 with the band and still never "got it". My feet were so far under water. Oh well, I'll keep throwing that in here and there. Happy Friday everyone! Edited by karen26.2 2012-03-23 6:27 AM |

Did I read the goal is now $100,000? Wehn initially she was "hoping" for $1,000. I truly hope she can reacht hat goal. It would do amazing things for those kids!! 45 minute run at lunch. It was 80 degrees, and I sweat my **** off! It's March. Def not complaining First mountain bike race of the season this sunday. This one is a time trial, only about 8.5 miles, and not too technical but technical enough to hurt yourself. It's pretty much a sprint, HR will average 170+ I'm sure! Finished 4th in my class last year, hope to beat that this year. although, they have changed the course up a bit and I am not familiar with it!
Good luck this weekend, Jeff!! Anyone else racing? |

Extreme Veteran 3020 | Subject: RE: kaburns1214 Mentor Group 2012 - CLOSED Good morning, friends. Up for a trainer ride this morning. Felt really strong. Last night's swim was a BEAST. It was the longest distance I've swum since I started training for triathlons, and halfway into the workout I wanted to stop (I didn't/wouldn't). It was definitely an exercise in mental toughness, for me. I hope to do more swims like that, as it make the oly distance swim leg seem like child's play Our house had a couple very, very minor violations on the outside. We are so happy! House is officially on the market on Monday. Agent is coming to take pics for zillow and other online sites on Monday. My 8th year wedding anniversary is on Tuesday, so we're celebrating this evening with dinner and drinks. I'm excited to go out because things have been all work and no play around here. Saturday it's back to the grind. |

Pro 4723 CyFair | Subject: RE: kaburns1214 Mentor Group 2012 - CLOSED Happy Anny Jen. Newlyweds are cute. So I'm looking at the more neutral to tall and narrow frames, just not long and low. She did say my flexibility, weird to be called flexible, means I could ride those but would have to tweak them to not be stretched out too much. So off to figure this out.
Ran 15 this morning. Finally found my stride again after Disney. Did however roll my ankle around mile 8. NSAID, ice, elevation happening right now. |

I would love to go to the lecture that night and hear Lance speak and hear who wins! You are so lucky to know her personally!
For the women, what saddle is on your bike. I think I would like to try another saddle. Even though the bike fit I had made it more comfortable, I still have pain in the front area, not the sit bones, after some time. Suggestions? What saddle is on the bike now? Is it a terry saddle?
Kelly, same saddle that it came with. I had a bike fit and I was more comfortable, but I still am in pain after about 45 minutes. I got a new pair of Sugoi bike shorts and thought that would help, and it did, but still having discomfort. someone suggested I get a specialized romin? I believe it was Terry Butterfy Ti Gel seat. I don't think the Speciailized Romin is going to make a big difference (it may actually be worse because the front of the is really thin and is going to compress quickly and created a pressure point). I have two thoughts: (1) sometimes its takes a lot of miles to get used to tri bike set-up / position and it may start to feel better with more miles; and (2) if you're going to look at saddles I would look at a Cobb. |

Extreme Veteran 3020 | Subject: RE: kaburns1214 Mentor Group 2012 - CLOSED Hi, all. Quick question....I rode for the third time with my new aero bars today. It was a 2 hour ride, and I spent 90% of the time in the aero position. My back and neck hurt right now. Is it because I am not used to riding in this position, and I need to strengthen these muscles? Or could it be because I was in a poor position, and I used muscles I'm not supposed to use? Any great sites for how my body ought to be positioned when in aero position? Thank you for any feedback you can offer me! |

I'm always sore when I start back riding, mostly my neck. Were you comfortable? My guess is that will go away as your muscles get used to it. |

Sooooooo I worked out the fd but need to buy a new crank other than the low end one they have on there. So suggestions for a crank under $400? |

I should be, I know. The seat post is being trimmed. So I should have it back late today/tomorrow. It's going to suck riding tomorrow if I don't have it. |

Any great sites for how my body ought to be positioned when in aero position? Thank you for any feedback you can offer me! I forget, did you have the bike fit with the aero bars on? Rode position and tri position are very different and if you just slap aero bars on a bike fit for rode position you're likely going to feel over extended and uncomfortable. You likely need to bring you saddle forward so you move your center of gravity from roughly over the seat tube to over the bottom bracket. If you post a picture/video of yourself from the side, I can take a look. Also regardless of how the bike is fit, it will take some getting used to. |

Extreme Veteran 3020 | Subject: RE: kaburns1214 Mentor Group 2012 - CLOSED I was up early for a recovery swim and some aqua jogging. No one else was in the pool, so that was nice. House goes on the market tomorrow. Also, I get to put in a call to the doc to see if she clears me for running again. I'm having no pain (and haven't for quite some time), so I'm fairly certain I'll get the green light I bought some unsweetened, plain Kefir this week. I've been mixing it with strawberries, bananas, and almond milk. Anyone else drink Kefir? Just wondering if there were some great ways to use it in recipes. Edited by jarvy01 2012-03-25 11:48 AM |
