Extreme Veteran 2098 Alberta | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker Appreciation Society - Open For Business Originally posted by Moonrocket Does anyone look at data from their logs? The March totals thread on the main forum made me go back and look. I thought my good race season was 2 summers ago but turns out it was 3. I need to step it up to get on track with what I was doing 3 years ago! April starts today and I'm going to try and beat my April 2012 training- my new goal for the month! 2013 was an injury year for me.. did not do any races. 2014 recovering, only did one race in July. 2015 as healthy as I ever will be, already signed up for 2 races. April outlook. Double swim time/distance, keep run around the same, increase bike by 10-15% 2013 swim bike run

As promised here is what kind of weather I am still dealing with, I wish it was just a horrible April fools joke..... (snowlawn.jpg) Attachments ---------------- snowlawn.jpg (488KB - 3 downloads) |

423 | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker Appreciation Society - Open For Business I don't use the log on BT because it seems redundant when I already track on Strava, Garmin and in an excel spreadsheet on my computer but my totals are nonetheless telling (and BT doesn't give any analytics, for which I am a junkie). Last year from May to December I rode just over 6641km. In the first 3 months of this year I have already ridden close to half that (3183km). To put that into perspective, in 2013 I rode 528km the entire year and in 2012 I rode 1210km the entire year. I rode the same distance in March of this year that I did in all of 2012. |

Granted we have been shoveling but Ill submit another shot later to show that the rest of the lawn isnt much better. |

It hit 60 here today for the first time and it was glorious. I'm not sure if it makes you feel any better but tough winters make us better people. Want proof? You post pictures of your driveway with snow up to the roof of your car and people with less snow feel better about themselves. I like that so much more than those Southerners who post pics of the pool/ocean/beach in the middle of February |

Expert 4269 | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker Appreciation Society - Open For Business Originally posted by aviatrix802 I'm on my third rest day....working too much! LOL The weather is beautiful so I've been flying yesterday and today but with hubby traveling I have to be home for the kiddos right after and they have after school activities to schlep them to. Soooooo NO SURGERY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The MRI confirmed what my PT has been saying all along! While I don't have bursitis, there is inflammation around the IT band in that specific spot so the ortho doc shot some cortisone in there and in a week if everything is feeling okay I can begin to run/walk again taking it slow! I need to roll like it's my job and continue with PT. I am over the moon! I'll report back to him via email in 6-8 weeks about how things are going. Now the question is....do I start a 13 week Half Mary program and sign up for the HIM (because I've been keeping up with the bike and swim) I wanted to do in June and walk a bit every mile or so or just plan on the AquaBike and do the HIM on Labor Day weekend....decisions, decisions.... I am distracted I am so happy. :-D okay, happy training! Sorry it's a bit of a selfish post, but I feel like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders! Tonight I am having a beer! I don't know what kind - I've got some microbrews in the fridge that I'll have to check out and enjoy with burgers on the grill. Three things: 1) you're not being selfish - you're celebrating! 2) You have every reason to celebrate. Avoiding surgery is a miracle! 3) Why can't you do two HIM. Someone else mentioned going slow on the run and there's nothing wrong with that... Do what gets you fired up. Aquajog to your hearts content. |

Veteran 371 Lincoln, Nebraska | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker Appreciation Society - Open For Business I don't reply much, be cause I'm on my phone usually. I agree about the BT phone app really lacking for forum communication. As for the april training goal thing: 2010 was my good year... Swim: 12,800 meters Bike: 218mi Run: 22mi I signed up for "Gravel Worlds" on April 1st. That's 150mi of gravel and dirt by bicycle, on August 22nd. Time to get REALLY serious about the bike training, and adding in weights to knock some fat off the ol' belly. -Kurt Edited by fifthcircle 2015-04-02 10:44 PM |

1007 DeLand, Florida | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker Appreciation Society - Open For Business April is tough for me - wasn't actively using BT last year in April (though I was a member), as I was 80% run focused. No training logs, I was swimming once a week (500 yards if I was lucky); I had just gotten my road bike and really only had it out a handful of times. Really I was just cranking out runs trying to get faster for my 10ks. And that all ended in my stress fracture early May... Determined not to do that again ever, my offseason since December of last year has diversified into a more even S/B/R split. |

423 | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker Appreciation Society - Open For Business First Ontario Cup race of the year (first every for me) and I landed on the podium. On the third lap I went with another guy who tried to breakaway but we couldn't make it work. Then a few kms up the road I attacked on my own and held the peloton off for a good 4-5km. I got to go through the finish corral off the front and heard them announce my name and my time ahead of the pack. That was pretty overwhelming. When they caught me I could see how exhausted everyone was and the paced slowed right down. I stayed on the front and lead the pack through the last half of the last lap and then sprinted to third. The 2 guys ahead of me had teammates to lead them out. I was hanging their wheel and managed to blow it up in the sprint. I feel amazing right now. Third pic is of my epic solo breakaway. I channeled my inner Jens Voigt.

1007 DeLand, Florida | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker Appreciation Society - Open For Business BTW - In case anyone else is interested, I finally managed to find what Pro cycling races are being broadcast by NBC Sports. Here is the listing: http://www.nbcsports.com/cycling/nbc-sports-group-2015-cycling-tv-s... up until I found this, I would periodically go into the TV listings on the cable box and just start scrolling through the NBC Sports listings as far out as it would let me (a couple weeks) and setting anything I could find to record. Comcast/xfinity is TERRIBLE with the search functions. 'Cycling' as a title search misses basically everything (ex. Paris-Roubaix does not contain the word 'cycling'...), and the same as a keyowrd search turns up all manner of weirdness, none of which has to do with cycling... |

189 Quakertown, Pennsylvania | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker Appreciation Society - Open For Business First off....CONGRATS ALAN! That's awesome. I didn't recognize you since I was looking for the guy in your avatar photo. It's hard to see the beard if it's even there. Check-in: Channeling my inner (much slower) Alan, I did a stationary bike workout yesterday and today. Of all of the disciplines, right now cycling is my weakest. I really thought it was going to be swimming but I fixed that the last 3 months. Now that winter is over (sorry for those living where that's not quite true yet) I'm looking forward to getting out there on the bike and getting some good miles under my belt. |

1941 , Vermont | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker Appreciation Society - Open For Business So...this was my "recovery week" but I took it to the extreme and have done zero since last Saturday. Today I will bike and/or swim and get back in the horse. Lots of working, traveling husband, little sleep, and a child with the stomach bug. I'm feeling very guilty for my lack of consistency this week but there wasn't a lot I could do about it. Wednesday I get to start my walk/run to ease my knee back into it- happy about that. Now to make sure I get my workouts in on a holiday weekend!! I did get to hang out with my hubby yesterday on the back deck while having a beer in the sunshine - it was 63 here yesterday. Funny thing - it's snowing again today. Vermont is quite bipolar like that - don't like the weather? Wait ten minutes! Cheers! Happy Easter! |

Member 3147 Carbondale, Illinois | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker Appreciation Society - Open For Business Congrats Alan!! Checking in here, but have to admit that you all have been so active that I'm totally out of it in terms of reading all the posts. Internet is sketchy here, but today it seems to be ok. For all of you in winter still, I offer a trade of sorts. I'll send you about 25 degrees of the 95+F that we have on site here. The excavations are going well--we are five days in and have already started finding and excavating grave pits. The site is exceptionally exposed though, so by mid-morning we are all hot, wind-blown and ready for a break (that never comes!). I'm up to 117/400 for the year, with mostly runs and yoga to account for those workouts. There is no pool here and I'm sure not swimming in the Nile--gross!! There aren't any bikes available either, but I couldn't ride anywhere but the 0.67mi loop around the road in front of the dig house anyway, so it wouldn't exactly be a great workout! Anyway--runs are going well. Three days in a row this week. Two of the other women working the excavations want to come running with me, but so far neither has. I'll take it as a win that people are thinking about it at least! Hope everyone is doing well! |

New user 669 Madrid | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker Appreciation Society - Open For Business Been off for a few days (Easter break), quite anxious to be back on training, but went on a family trip to Canary Islands for kite surf lessons (I guess this counts as some type of training, as I am exhausted and discovered new muscles that I forgot from Anatomy I !!). Great weather, fun with the kids and new sport to try when the wind is blowing. Local beers and local wines not so good, but kite surf compensated. Alan, congrats!!! Looks like you are living the dream! Alex, waiting to hear on your HIM race report (mine is end of May, many days I am thinking "May be this is too much for me??", don´t you have similar thinkings now and then? Devon, great pic!! I spent a summer in Memphis (UTenn) and loved that view at sunset. Jenn, happy to hear you 'escaped' from surgery, recovery should be quicker and better, so why not aim for HIM? Justin, hope snow melts away soon, coming from an island find it difficult to understand there is so much snow still 'alive' in the world Mark, I guess paddle boarding and kite surf gives you a similar pain in the arms and shoulders! Sandi, very proud of you and how quickly you are back into tough training - strong, powerful mind!!! Thor, great to engage your family in races, best way to enjoy sports and life!! (....and best for you to get to go anywhere as well) Did a 3h bike ride this morning, weather was so windy that had some tough time as my whole body was hurting after holidays - while riding a 71 year old guy came along and rode together for a few kms, he happened to be an old Spain duatlhon champion, after some miles riding together with great chat, he stopped to wait for his riding buddy, who was 78!! I hope to be in their shape when I reach their age. Juan |

141 Colorado Springs, Colorado | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker Appreciation Society - Open For Business So a little update from last night.. Got off work a little early (around 0245) and had a little energy left so I was gonna go for a little run. That little run turned into a 3 mile interval workout.. :P At first I figured running was going to be my weakest leg, however I'm leaning towards it now being cycling..I'm just having a hard time getting my mileage and speed up.. Still wondering if I have what it takes this season to do a HIM in November..it would be my A race this year, but I've got a LONG way to go... Edit: I wish I could box up the weather outside right now and send it to you all...72, slight breeze and not a cloud in the sky.. Edited by GeauxHard 2015-04-04 3:06 PM |

189 Quakertown, Pennsylvania | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker Appreciation Society - Open For Business Check-in Did a pool workout today and just didn't feel it. It seems that my Mondays feel good and my Saturdays don't always. I wonder if that's my body's way of telling me that I need to do 3 workouts a week. I'll play around and see in a few weeks. I have other plans first. Training Partner I thought I'd show you my training partner Brianna after a 2 mile run. This is the first year I'm going to bring her with me on some runs. I usually just keep her busy with a tennis ball in my back yard. My daughter took the pic....she just wanted the scenery and Brianna. Dad is on the other side of the leash.
