I would love to go to the lecture that night and hear Lance speak and hear who wins! You are so lucky to know her personally!
For the women, what saddle is on your bike. I think I would like to try another saddle. Even though the bike fit I had made it more comfortable, I still have pain in the front area, not the sit bones, after some time. Suggestions? What saddle is on the bike now? Is it a terry saddle?
Kelly, same saddle that it came with. I had a bike fit and I was more comfortable, but I still am in pain after about 45 minutes. I got a new pair of Sugoi bike shorts and thought that would help, and it did, but still having discomfort. someone suggested I get a specialized romin? I believe it was Terry Butterfy Ti Gel seat. I don't think the Speciailized Romin is going to make a big difference (it may actually be worse because the front of the is really thin and is going to compress quickly and created a pressure point). I have two thoughts: (1) sometimes its takes a lot of miles to get used to tri bike set-up / position and it may start to feel better with more miles; and (2) if you're going to look at saddles I would look at a Cobb.
Thanks Kelly. I will keep riding and see if things get better. I tried to use my tri shorts as Karen suggested - worked great on the outside run, but this mornings trainer ride, hurt again. |

Trying to find a parking garage near my gym to run on Friday morning. It's Monday and I'm already thinking about how early I need to get down to Galveston this weekend due to the media circus that will be following Lance. |

Expert 1121 | Subject: RE: kaburns1214 Mentor Group 2012 - CLOSED Yesterdays Mountain Bike Time Trial was good. being released 30 seconds apart, and then chasing down and passing 5 people that were released before you is always motivation to push more. Finsihed 3rd in my class, and only 15 seconds off first place. Next Sunday is my next MTB race, and back to regular format where everyone starts together. have a great day! |

Quick question....I rode for the third time with my new aero bars today. It was a 2 hour ride, and I spent 90% of the time in the aero position. My back and neck hurt right now. Is it because I am not used to riding in this position, and I need to strengthen these muscles? Or could it be because I was in a poor position, and I used muscles I'm not supposed to use? Any great sites for how my body ought to be positioned when in aero position? Thank you for any feedback you can offer me! I forget, did you have the bike fit with the aero bars on? Rode position and tri position are very different and if you just slap aero bars on a bike fit for rode position you're likely going to feel over extended and uncomfortable. You likely need to bring you saddle forward so you move your center of gravity from roughly over the seat tube to over the bottom bracket. If you post a picture/video of yourself from the side, I can take a look. Also regardless of how the bike is fit, it will take some getting used to.
nevermind, i am getting all screwed up with all the new bikes and people changing things, lol
Jen, did you just slap on aerobars or did you get a forward seatpost also?? Edited by Rudedog55 2012-03-26 10:03 AM |

Jen, did you just slap on aerobars or did you get a forward seatpost also?? I put on Profile Design Jammers. I really didn't want to modify position too much. I did move my seat forward a bit, but no, I didn't get a forward seat post. I am going to take my bike into a different shop (where I'll also be being new shoes ) and try to get schedule for a new bike fit. After reading up on the shorty bars, it seems there are mixed comments about the seat post. Opinion? The setup seems comfortable. |

Pro 4723 CyFair | Subject: RE: kaburns1214 Mentor Group 2012 - CLOSED Jen, get the fit and see what they say. I got fit on my old bike last Thursday before the final call on buying a bike came down, DOH!!!, and all I needed to do was move my saddle forward more to make sure I wasn't too stretched out. Alternatively I could have put on a shorter stem. Anyway went out yesterday and spun at a higher rate and when rolling unimpeded I was easily rolling along 1.5-2mph faster than the week before. |

Extreme Veteran 3020 | Subject: RE: kaburns1214 Mentor Group 2012 - CLOSED Morning, peeps. I was up at 4:15 to get to the pool for a swim. Started a new medicine yesterday and felt like I was going to vomit the entire workout. Whew! I have some strength training to do later, but that's it for the day. Agent is coming to take pictures of the house for zillow.com, so I have to use the next 6 hours to my advantage. Trying to keep the house straightened with 4 kids running around is torture. Conrad is on spring break, too, so it's even worse right now. |

Expert 1121 | Subject: RE: kaburns1214 Mentor Group 2012 - CLOSED Kelly, what fundraising method are you using to generate that much of a profit? Is it all registration fees and some small sponsors? That's impressive. I am moving along nicely with being an RD for my first 5k (actually 3.5 miler) for the non profit I am involved with. Thanks to Kelly for some help with getting that started by sharing her budget for her race. I am looking at Sept 16th. And have finally secured a nice course around Alexanders Lake. We actually decided to make it a 3.5 mile run as we really wanted to use this course that no one else has ever used. So yes, we'll be advertising it as such. And thanks to Bryan, he hooked me up big time!! |

Pro 4723 CyFair | Subject: RE: kaburns1214 Mentor Group 2012 - CLOSED IDK about the wheels. My buddy just got in some 2Quick wheels that are like 808s. Thinking about seeing how they work out for him this weekend at Galveston 70.3 or Lonestar or whatever they're calling that thing. The sudden proliferation of small companies making carbon wheels is amazing. Or maybe I'm just noticing now. |

Master 1832 Elgin, IL | Subject: RE: kaburns1214 Mentor Group 2012 - CLOSED So wondering cuz I am seeing it more and more why people get a bottle in the aero bars to drink from (I have the bottle with the straw). I think it can be hard enough to be in aero bars without grabbing a bottle to drink from. Do you still get up out of the bars to drink from the bottle or grab while in the bars and drink? |

OK, I am head out for 1:30 in hills very soon ...little breeze, yay, but may rain, and 45 degrees, waaaa (yes, in Chicago a week ago we were at 88 degrees, yesterday down to 30's)

Jen - I'm glad you asked about aero - I just started riding in aero also and it is definitely a different neck position to get used to. Seems like you also use more of your upper quads - at least for me! Hope you adjust to the new meds soon and feel better! Congrats on your house being on the market - now the stress of keeping it 'show ready' starts - nearly impossible with 4 mess makers (if they are anything like mine!!LOL) |
