Fred D - 2012-03-17 1:23 PMFirst outdoor run in almost 6 weeks, felt good.Slow and still stiff and sore, but hopeful.Anyone else training?
Glad to hear it!! I was suppose to drive down to Oceanside and pre ride the front side of calif 70.3 with a few BTers (half the course - the hard half unfortunately - is off limits on camp Pendleton) but rain stopped that. So put the CT to use and rode the whole course on the trainer. Rode well but faster than race speed, so.. Good learning experience though.. Then ran about an hour brick. Hardest workout Ive done in quite a while. Tomorrow is a 10 mile run plus about 3500 of distance swim work. Then I can start cutting back for the 70.3.

Chris, that rain just arrived here.  What a miserable run I just had.  When I left it was windy but dry and somewhat warm.  when I say windy, I mean I was getting sandblasted on my legs with the dirt that was being blown about.  I was about half way to my turn around point and then the hail started.  Which by the way hurts way more when being blown into by said wind.  It was basically hailing sideways.  Then just as I got near to the turn around it started raining heavy...of course.  So I turn around and just tried to book it on the way home.  There was no real booking it involved as the wind was having it's way with me, but I can tell you I never once looked at my HR on the way home.   And of course it appears to be somewhat calm right now.  I got into a hot shower as soon as I got home but right now still have the shivers and am all kinds of shades of red so I got a coffee and put myself to bed until I warm up again.

Anyways, training is done and now it is on to tape and questioning and requestioning all the training, should I have done more, should I have followed a different plan, etc etc.  I'm sure you all know about that though.

Hello everyone- I hope everyone is having a great weekend and had a chance to get out there and enjoy the outdoors. Golf season is starting to kick off and with this nice weather everyone is coming out of hibernation.

I jumped on the trainer this morning to test myself for 10 mins only and I didn't feel any pain. I'll probably be hitting the trainer tonight.

Great job Tom!

I finished last week with over 15 hours of S/B/R.  I was pretty fatigued Sunday morning.  This morning I feel a much better.  I wanted a longer tempo run on Saturday but changed it to some intervals.  My run was pushed to the PM because I biked in the AM.  The time the run rolled around it was 75 in Central PA.  I stepped outside a quickly realized running in the AM in the 40’s temps to now in the PM in the mid 70’s would have been a bad idea for me.

I weighed in at 176 lbs on the Tanita scale down 1 lb.  I also did a BF which shocked me.  Last I did BF was 13 Jan at 12% now I am at 10%.

I have an AM run and noon bike.  I hope everyone has a awesome day of training!

I am also down 2 pounds this week.  Pretty happy with that.  Heading into the right direction for my upcoming race.  In taper now, doing a two week taper, so even more important to watch my weight.

Got in a 60 minute run.  An hour after that the tornado sirens went off.  Only the 2nd time in 14 years we trucked to the basement.  Interesting evening.

Tornado's are getting scarier.  Not sure if it is cause we are building into more areas so there are more places they would have normally done no damage and now are so we hear about them more or there are just more tornado's.  We've even had them do some damage in the PNW once.  Vancouver, WA got hit by one.  We know they happen out there but it is rare for them to touch down and are usually where no one is

135. Only going down from here!

I had the USAT Level I Coaching Clinic this past weekend, and my first sprint tri of the season. The tri went much better than anticipated, and I'm a little more excited for the upcoming season now!

Rest day tomorrow for me but I don't feel like I really need it like I have in past weeks.  I may work in some strength or core.

Side note:  I remember someone in the group saying they had a B16 but can't remember who.  Do you have the stock 52/36 crank, and the 11-25 cassette?  Any thoughts on that set up?

Tom - Jen & I both have the 2010 Felt B12.  It came with a 53/39 and 12-25 cassette.  I think you should be good with that setup you mentioned.  Unless you plan on racing Triple TTT .

Awesome weekend for me, not so much training but just lots of family time, and some great weather.  I was able to get my first outdoor ride of the season done on Sunday so that brought a smile to my face...forget how much better that is than the trainer in the pain cave.  It was nice to see the pace up a bit from last year too.

Also ran ~35 miles last week and did not get a long run in...just 3 mid distance runs and two shorter runs.  I was hoping to race this weekend but not sure now.  If not this weekends 15K then I will probably race a 10 mile trail race in 2 weeks.  I am getting antsy!

We are having record high temps the next 3 days so that always helps to get out the door.

Kim, hail hurts, especially when it's being blown at you.  But huge props for making it to the turnaround, I kept thinking I was going to read that you bagged it.

205.2 this morning, 2.4 down from last week, but my weight can fluctuate quite a bit week to week.  Trying to get some solid time below 205.

Had a huge weekend for me, solid workouts all around, and a real confidence building week overall for my last big week(end).  Capped it off yesterday with an "easy" 10 hilly run, was really happy at the pace given my effort to just run easy by feel, then 4K in the pool with a main set of 6 x 500 on 7:30.  I am ready.

Now time for the taper crazies to set in

211 on the Dr scale this AM, i had my annual physical.

I saw 208 this past week, but had a couple parties and a BT GTG on thurday for burgers and beers did not help.

I lost a friend yesterday in a bike race, a very bad crash, sever head trauma, he passed this AM. Put a little post on Facebook about it. Makes you not want to ride or race, but that is not what he woulda wanted.

I could not stand it anymore this morning and with some great weather out there I went out for a bike ride. Nothing hard- just an easy ride to Wed Worlds course and back. I wanted to go a little longer but could not chance it. We'll see how I feel tonight.

Last week - 178 lbs.

This morning- 173

I was surprised to see that number. Two more lbs came off after the bike ride. Knowing that I cannot run nor bike, I've cut down a lot! of calories. I am just trying to east six small meals every 2 to 3 hours. Maybe another 3 lbs by next Monday although I would be happy with 1 lb less.

Have a great day!
