30 minute run this morning.  Muggy as all Hell.  Holding out hope I can get on the road instead of the trainer this evening.

Watched the Olympic Swim trials last night.  My girls were fascinated which is good because swim lessons will be starting soon.  I'm still debating really good and $$$$$ lessons at the really competitive place near us or laid back and cheap lessons at the neighborhood pool.  There is no in between unfortunately.

Fork it out and go with the good ones at the competitive place

I would have said the opposite - start laid back and cheap to begin, then if they are really into it, transition to the competitive expensive place.

I agree with Karen.

carrie639 - 2012-06-25 1:47 PM I was just wondering what people thought.  I don't think the bike enhanced her race at all, but interesting how the lines are drawn. Had she known she would be DQ'd, she said she would've pedaled 1 footed back ... Just sucks, especially when she was having such a tremendous race.

I have thoughts (I always have thoughts on all things legal-ish) but am dead to the world at the moment.  I got sick on Sunday and have been vomitting ever since.  MISERABLE.

Any body have stretches where it is hard to work out mentally or physically? I have hit one the last three days...My mind says workout but my body is telling me otherwise. Some of it has been family things going on which has taken me way past my bedtime and 5am just comes way to early. So do I try to make up those workouts or just start on tomorrows and go from there...very frustrating especially not getting swims in. Hope everyone has a great day.

I think we all have times like this.  I don't try to make up workouts anymore.  I don't miss many, but if I do, then they're just gone.  Better to just move forward, IMO.  Family always comes first...the training will always be there!

Thanks! I just think I beat myself up more than I need to. Ah such is life and I just need to keep that in mind. Glad I am not the only one

Went to the doctor.  I have a bacterial infection -- at least they can give me antibiotics.

You'll be all ready to go in no time then.

So there is a test link on active.com for IMTX.  Encouraging??

Done.  Tongue out

As to the food thing.  I need to buckle down.  I had felt like I lost some intensity in my training and some focus on my nutrition.  Stepped on the scale and I'm up over 170.  Yikes!!!  Time to dial everything back in and push towards a podium spot in Aggieland.

Oh and I have grapes, apples, melons, and bananas in the house right now.  Plenty of good stuff for me to snack on.

I felt that way about my running a few weeks ago.  I wasn't focusing on the sessions....almost like I was on autopilot just to get it done.  Things have taken a turn lately, and I feel strong again.  Maybe I just needed that time to really get over all the injuries and pain I was experiencing.  As for weight, I'm always pretty diligent with what I eat, but I am 6 lbs. heavier this year than last.  Oddly enough, I think I'm stronger with the weight on (even though I like seeing the lower number ).

When's your next race, Scott?

Since my HIM my eating is out of control. If I'm not eating I'm thinking about eating.

7/14-  400m, 12 mile, 5k.  It's a pool swim.  Ugh.  Guess I'll see if I just suck at OWS or if under race conditions I revert to old habits.  Plus I'd really like to run the 5k in right around 20 minutes.  The run course should be pretty cool.  It takes you through the A&M football field on the way out and the way back.

Watermelon is my FAVORITE! Yes but more so on my rest days for some reason. I just try to make sure to take in plenty of water and higher protein snacks like almonds to keep me more full.  We keep bananas, grapes, blueberries, apples, papaya, and oranges stocked in our household.

Great 1hr run last night and I think I have dialed in my stride pretty well. My hip flexors did not bother me at all and only feel tight this morning. Although I warmed those up this morning with a crazy bike ride. These sprints the BT plan calls for are killer. It is good to be back in and I feel like I am focusing more and getting the most out of the workouts now. Now if I can just get that focus on my swimming.

Sounds like a great race!

Still slowly get back to running here. I've noticed my heel/ankle area is really tight when I start, so I've taken to running a mile or so, then stopping for a walk break to loosen up and stretch, then resume my run. Hey, whatever it takes, right?

I need something, I will check those out. I love the challenge the swim is giving me right now but some mornings are worse than others trying to wake up and go.

I think that is pretty sweet that it keeps up with your laps. I am horrible with keeping up with my laps and pace. Might be a nice Christmas present
