When I first saw the headline I was like

`Great, one of my rock idols is chillin' with Amy Winehouse sippin' a spritzer in rehab.' Thankfully, it's nothing so nefarious.

My mother tells a story about how she saw Aerosmith at her high school in 1970 or 71. The group couldn't have been any older than the 10 students in the gym but Tyler was already prancing around in leather pants sticking his junk on anything he could reach.

That does mean you'll have to stay sober for a while.

Yeah, need to detox from time to time.

So what day do you use during football season?

I have a bad habit of coming in from a training session and cracking a beer. Followed by another. And then one more. Not usually a fourth.

Consequently my fat % isn't dropping as fast as it was 6 weeks ago. Maybe I should go back to scotch.

Actually... I don't drink that much through the week, unless I go out. I don't keep any beer at home.

My inlaws are from Dublin. It is the height of inhospitality to them if they show up for a surprise visit and there is no beer. In a pinch something hard can be substituted but beer is the lever. I have to have beer around at all times just in case.

It's a very good excuse.

TAN poll....

How serious are the TANers about Triathlon?

I don't want this to sound like all the other threads about "how much do YOU do" or "how long do YOU go".

But I'm curious about how seriously TANers take the sport.

I think I read 2goggs was doing his first HIM soon and signed up for an IM?  I have completed a couple HIM's and will most likely do an IM this fall.

BUT, I'm also thinking of hanging up the bike shoes after that and start up my next hobby (not sure what that is yet - maybe smoking and drinking and eating good food)

I did tri's for only 2 seasons and will do at least one this season but other than that, I'm running and taking a carp load of dance classes.

I am new to the sport as last year was my first season.  I have no endurance sport background but got into running 2 years ago to lose some weight.  Running turned to triathlons.  If it gives you any idea of how serious I am about this, I start working at a tri shop on Monday.

I'm training for my first - a sprint - some time this year. Just got off my butt this spring to do it after thinking about it for a couple of years. I'll decide if the sport is for me after that but for now I'm actively training towards at least one.
