lvthgme - 2008-07-30 8:16 AM Hi TAN. I'm at work this morning! Was at a coaching clinic all day yesterday. Got to meet John Cook (UNL volleyball coach) which was cool. Um...that is all. OH and having a good hair day so far.

Morning, sounds like you'll have time to work on that race report today.

I am kind of a soloist. I like to be around people and get together and have a god time and what not, but, I also like my time alone, where I can do what I want and be alone with my thoughts. I think that is why I like cycling so much. I can go out on my own and have 2 or 3 hours just to me and clear my head and think about what I want.

It's probably weird, but I don't remember ever claiming that I was normal.

I'm the same way.  Sometimes I describe myself as a 'social loner'.  It's not that I don't like people, it's just that I like to interact with them on my terms.  For example, I love living by myself.  I had a roommate but she got married in May and I have no real interest in replacing her.  However, I'm friendly with many of my neighbors and often stop by to chat or grill or maybe I swing by with a six-pack and we'll chill.  But at the end of the day, I go home and it's just me and the dog.

Both of my parents and most of my family are a time zone away.  While that may seem really far to some people, I've come to accept the fact that even if I lived on the same block, some many of my family members wouldn't walk down the street to say hi, unless they wanted something that is.  Them the breaks.

Morning TAN.

Same here, kinda. I LOVE living alone. I miss it. I wish I could afford it. I can keep myself busy for hours if I have to. But I do like being around people and being social and I get bored and lonely if I go too long without other people around.

I don't know.  I just want to see the new one before I leave for the day and don't see it until the pages are in double digits tonight or tomorrow.

Let's not kill it yet.  It's rumored that TANs can get into the 90's even the hundreds.  I for one would like to see that happen.

I think that probably makes a big difference in point of view as well.  Once you've left things change and you get used to taking care of yourself (and by that I mean paying for your own living space, etc...) and you get used to being able to have over whoever you want whenever you want.  And after you get used to that you do realize there were some unwritten rules, or even just things you did out of respect for your parents and their house that you never thought about.  But once you've left you can do whatever you want, it is addicting.

Agreed. I NEVER wanted to move back home after I went away to college. I spent one summer home and it was okay, but then I did summer stock theatre the second summer and by the third summer, I wanted to stay in Boston and get a summer job instead. Haven't lived home since the summer after freshman year. It IS really nice having your own place ALL to yourself, lemme tell ya. I can't afford to live alone, and I do like having people around, but not having to be accountable to anyone is nice. I go for days without seeing my roommates too, but their stuff is still in the fridge, their mess is still in the sink, etc.

Not trying to get it pulled by any means, just want it to freeze and go off into retirement like a few TAN's before it.

Yep, I've lived alone for 3 of the last 5 years. 1 year with a roommate, 6 months at home (never going to happen again) and 6 months alone in the dorms my senior year (my first senior year).  I like knowing that everything I hate about this place, how dirty it is, the fact that it's not decorated (And I've lived here almost 2 years), any damage done to the place, it's all my fault...it's all been my decision.  It's a good feeling.

I'm not big on decorating myself and it really bothers other people when they come over.  It's like - I don't complain about the cheap, crappy art on your walls, why would you complain about the lack thereof on mine.

yeah... anytime from 85 on, it's a crap shoot... I have only experienced a 110 page TAn once... when we were going to 100 pages, and no mods saw us... then we were momentarily chastised (pronounced with three syllables) by the great and powerful RKreuser, blessed be his name forever...

True, but we are being very well behaved. And a new TAN always seems to bring out the freaks. Also, I'm not sure why we're all so into being on the first page. Do people actually ever go back and read TANs?
