Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Qua17 - 2012-11-05 6:49 PM First off, I applaud your determination. I just broke no booze tonight, had a sixie of the brrr with brother in law. He left a rasberry wheatie in my frige from shock top. I'm not looking forward to it, but I'm gonna drink it. thor67 - 2012-11-05 11:45 AM Okay so last month I was at approximately 16.5 hours of training for r/b/s. Even though I have $hit the bed with no training for the first 4 of the first 5 days of the month, my goal is to increase training to 20 hours...Let the games begin! Also-no booze for November and track calorie intake! Wednesday-dunk test to see fat percentage etc. Going to be UGLY!! Sounds like a good and achievable goal... as long as you stop drinking molson light and get your butt in gear No Booze for the entire month? That's born again hard core. Good luck on Wednesday. I'm back on track with marathon training. I'm pre training and the training plan starts Dec, 15th for May 19th's marathon. 3:20 or below. If that doesn't get you kids all fired up, I don't know what will. Maybe the fact that I'm about to drink a rasberry shock top. It'll be like my hero Rickey Bobby says. "I'm too drunk to tast that chicken." I like the idea of posting our accomplishments/gripes on our group site, I just don't remember how to get there. Thor? |

After 12 months, 500 workouts, almost a hundred pounds lost, and most of the goals in my two year plan accomplished, I am back at the crossroads I have been at probably half a dozen times before. As part of my taper - I'm not exercising, I'm eating like a poster boy for over eaters anonomous, and I'm going backwards towards the fat, sack of that I was last year. And the thing that really bothers me is that I know I'm at the cross road and my mind so wants to go forward but my choices are talking me backwards. (A chocolate croissant AND a scone instead of my oatmeal... seriously?) To be fair - life has been crazy the last few weeks. 3 kids - all with their own issues, cub scouts, absolute craziness at work, tension with my wife, and a dab of post HIM depression and the disappointment of not being able to sign up for an IM next year have all been weighing me down (not a pity party - just saying). But I've worked too hard to f this up. Too f'in hard... And I've got so much more that I want to and need to accomplish for myself, for my family, and for my students. And so I'm gonna go back to doing it 1 day at a time. Here are my goals to getting back on track: Today - 60 minutes on the bike no matter what. Tomorrow 6 mile run no matter what. For the next week, counting every single calorie even if I go over my daily limit no matter what. Finally, I'm gonna check in each day to cheer you on while holding myself accountable. If I do it - beer and ice cream each night. If I don't, Coors Light out of a dirty ashtray. This isn't a pity party. I don't need a pep talk. I just need to promise you I will do it but I'm gonna do it for myself. I don't want to go back. I want to be happy and healthy so I'm gonna get it done. As Kevin would say - moving forward Here's the deal. Welcome back. Life must've been challenging last week not to mention the little storm you all had. Give yourself some credit. Look what you've done already. Allow yourself to feel GOOD about THAT. My body, I've decided needs rest. I've been at this distance stuff for now my 4th season. In all the past 3, I've taken over 3 months off, and went back to ground zero each year. This year, I vowed to go all the way through, 12 months straight, no breaks. That didn't work out. I needed 3-4 weeks of f off time to recover body mind soul. Now I'm back on the horse after nursing a cold the last week. If you'll allow yourself a few weeks of reprieve during this stressful season, you'll come back with a peace and a purpose and renewed vigor that will match your previous efforts. You've done amazing things, and I believe you've got it in you to do amazing things moving forward. Look at Couer D' Alene in 2014. We can do our first at the same course on the same day. That'd be cool. Boys, this helped more than you know! Good to know I NEEDED a break not just gave up, which for awhile there i felt like I gave up. So instead of going out Friday night the money I saved will go towards renewing my membership so I can enter my plan...apparently I need to be a woman with a plan when it comes to training. Decide what I want. I can't do it all. I can't work 12 hours a day, train for a half Mary and a HIM, do well in my calc class, lift weights, recover and keep up with chores. What are my true goals? Whatever the goals will be I need a foundation of proper nutrition. Starting there...oatmeal this morning. Gotta take care of this lousy cold that has been lingering. This is it boys! This is war! No coors light! Sounds like your life is as crazy as mine... So sometimes you have to focus on the little things in order to achieve the big things. Oatmeal for breakfast is a good start. So too is renewing your gym membership. Do you know what these little things mean = no coors light for you. Take some time this week thinking about what you want to accomplish and then let us know how we can support you. Okay first off, I think we all need to step back and realize we have young(er) children and family obligations that will always come first. We need to accept that and move on. Training will always be there but family is a fleeting moment that we must take advantage of. Very wise! Second, we need to get our nutrition under control. November will be a dry month for me with calorie counting! After a weekend of pizza, big macs, chicken fingers, fries, chips, beer etc. My weight has ballooned up since our weight contest. Pathetic really. I want to be able to wear my speedo proudly on holidays in Florida late march!(Do not picture this or you will be scarred for life! My goal is to moderate till Thanksgiving Turkey Day, then let all he!! break loose! Had my oatmeal for brekkie today! GAme on baby! Lastly, so far it has been a pretty great year on our group site. Great to see everyones amazing journey's big and small! Let's keep this going so we can all have continued success! I think we should start posting our workouts on our group site so we are accountable! (this is more for my miserable lazy butt!) Please post the link to this again, and I'm all in. 3:20 or bust. |

Each of us have had an EPIC year - each with our trials and accomplishments. And the fact that we did it while being committed parents and spouses - make the accomplishments even more special. I'm sure I'm not the only one who thinks this - but I know that a huge part of my success is owed to each one of you. For that I thank you and I'll be there in the coming months to support each of you as you continue your journey. Prost! X2! |

Not fast but not as bad as I thought it would be after not training for three weeks. Trying to build my base before starting the half marathon training. |

Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Okay the results are in...about what I expected... The body composition water dunk test was pretty neat. First off it was the weigh in, than they tested your lung capacity. They do it about 4-5 times. For me it was probably the worst part of the test! Then it was into the speedo and into the water tank...nice warm water...I chose not to heat it up anymore. Results: Weight: 101.7kg--ouch! Fat Mass:21.6kg Fat Free Mass:80.1kg(everything that is not fat) Fat%:21.2(median, lowest was 20.6 but...) Recommened % fat levels-Over 35yr old- <20% End of the day is I need to shed pound dammit and keep them off. This week I am going to really try ditch this weight. Christmas-I think 96kg. Last week of March(Florida trip)-86kg Hopefully I will have the belly of a turtle and fat% of 12-14%...hahaha |

Also bought my second swim jammers...actually wore out a pair this past year...never thought I would ever say that...luckily my wife notice the worn spots before I bent over to pick up goggles or something at the pool... Tomorrow, run in the morning(if not snowed in) then swim and spin class! |
