Hi Guys, Thanks for the encouragement!  On the mend and did a five mile race yesterday morning. Going through our town on Friday Night I saw a reader board announcing a race for the morning.  So I was up early and did the race.  Note to self cheap vodka and pizza do not make a great pre race dinner!  I was ill prepared and struggled with endurance and strong head winds.  I know what I need to do and need to get crackin'.

Oh the beer, St. Bernarbus Abt 12.http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/259/1708

Nice work on getting out there and getting it done.  It's good to get out there and figure a few things out.  sometimes our bad experiences can help us out immensely so the next time will go much better.

That beer looks wonderful.  Beastly.  How was it?

OH yeah its on like Donkey Kong fo' sho'! The beer was great!  I only had sips as it was tooooooo heavy for me.  But the taste was fantastic.  I think its rated a 98 out of 100 from consumers and 100 out of 100 from beer advocate.

Qua17 - 2012-11-13 7:13 PM Hope all is well with everyone. My Triathlete magazine came today, which has me pretty excited. Not as excited as when i used to get playboy in college but close! For the record ~ im trying to eat well despite it being the off season but i did have one beer tonight. A canadian beer i brought home from my summer trip to Quebec. Sleeman's light... it was in a sampler. Not bad as light beers go but not good either dont yiu have quality control up there?
Really are there any light beers that are good?? Smile

Tonight I'm sampling Sleeman's Cream Ale... sad to say it's not much better.  Frankly I'd rather have a molson.  Question - do they sell Sleeman out where you live?

really, that hurts. Love the Cream Ale....although sometimes in the bottles it comes skunked, so that is an issue. Much better than Canadian. Think you musta got a bad bottle.

Just a quick check in before hitting the sack... Kudos to Cynthia for battling through the vodka induced pain to and to DH for going large this week.  So impressed!  And Kevin - loved the story about the growler of DFH - Quality Stuff.

I had planned on taking a break until the end of the month - but the fact that I found myself eating ice cream for breakfast set off alarm bells.  So, I plan on getting back into it this week.  In a perfect world, I'm gonna hit the sack early and try to get in a swim tomorrow.  Then I'll walk/run the Turkey Trot on Thursday (I've got bursitis in my knee) and will go for a ride on Saturday.  I'll also start counting calories.

Back at it .

PS Sleeman Draught was decent tonight.  Almost done with the 12 pack.

Hit the dreader this morning and managed 4.5 miles.  not bad for me.  I'm trying to keep weekly miles above 20 while increasing pace.  If wife stays home tomorrow a.m., I will either doa  s/b, or a b/r.  If she goes to work out, I'll stay here and do a core workout and hit the run on wednesday.

David, you should keep off that knee for a few weeks and swim and easy bike.  Instead of taking a total break, just break from the run while you recuperate.

How was the chocolate minty beer?

How was the chocolate minty beer?

Let's start with the most important topic - the beer... The Chocolate Mint Chip beer is still fermenting.  On Wednesday we are going to transfer it to secondary and add a couple of ounces of Chocolate Nibs (crushed cocoa beens) with the hope of making it even more cholately...  Before you joke know that Stone just came out with a collaberation Chocolate Mint Beer themselves.  So if they did it, the style is legit.

Got in my swim this morning... I agree Kevin about taking it easy.  I need to recharge both my mind and my body, but I beginning to realize that doing nothing leads to the old habits coming back.  So I plan on working out 3-4x per week and for about 20-30 minutes each time... And as for running, I'll go easy after the turkey trot, which I will walk if there is even the slightest hint of knee pain).

First off, great job Cynthia! From medical mess to cheap vodka and a run! Classic example of our group, BDAS...badass? Hmmm Beer art drinkers appreciation society...anyone? Smile

Darren, that is one massive run week! How is the no beers going? Weight dropping?

Kevin, I am shocked you asked about the cherry pinapple chocolate mint peppermint vanilla raspberry beer... Laughing Good job hopping on the treadmill...so far I have avoided and went to the track which is only slightly better.

David, ice cream for breakfast?? did I read that right? When is your new baby(beer) going to be ready? I can actually accept the chocolate, it is the mint that does not do it for me....

Don't plan your workouts just plan to workout and let the chips fall where they may!

Well after a great workout week, the weekend was somewhat of a bust. My son was in a hockey tournament...4 games in 3 days, my daughter had hockey and I played a game=no workouts.

Still in the end they are just excuses that need to be squashed in the future. I could have found the time if I really wanted to...

On a positive I did manage to lose just over 3 pounds.

Cheers everyone!

First off - thanks for the good laugh.  Yes the CMC Beer is coming along fine.

Kudos on the weight loss.  3 pounds is a banner week.  Congrats!  And don't worry about missing the workouts because of the kids.  You are helping them to establish lifelong habits that will serve them well and keep them fit for their entire lives.  That's good stuff.

Nice totals to date Thor.  Keep at it and finish the month out with another strong week.  You can't fault your sunday night game.  It's great activity and a good mental health break. What's the beer of choice in the canadian beer league, labatt's or molson.  Our team goes with kokanee, another gemstone from up north.

happy thanksgiving, and good on you for getting out and getting it done today.

Here it is.  I got a 4.15 miler in at a 6:58/mi pace.  My first sub 7 for this training cycle.  I'm going fast again!

I woke up and it was 31 degrees at 6, and I went back to bed, but got after it after breakfast, and the temps climbed to near 40 and sunny.  perfect weather setting up for a great run.

Goal for today is to moderate to 2 plates of T dinner, and 1 plate of desert, and watch my redskins out stink the cowboys in what is setting up to be a stink fest.

goal for tomorrow is to get to gym for a s/b recovery workout.  Saturday is a 6.2 miler time trial.  Sunday is a day for rest.

Happy Thanksgiving guys and gal.  Hope you all have a great time, and get a workout in.

The one feature I like is that you can make your own plan callendars for months in advance.  The plans are customized to your times that you enter for each event.  I don't need one now while marathon training, but it'll be good for next years HIM training and beyond.

Well I didn`t sign up for any team, I put my name on the sub list for one league and a couple of teams. I have played about 6-7 games, plus I have another on Sunday...beer after games is a crapshoot...of course I am off the beer until next Friday sooooo...

I have my swimming tonite and spin class right after...weigh in tomorrow. Hoping for 217-218lb. Gotta say my jeans are feeling a little looser then a couple of weeks ago...

Thor - Don't be so hard on yourself.  For one thing - those are some decent numbers with a week to go.  For another thing, there is no way you should be upset about your hockey game.  I agree with Kevin - not only are you getting a good workout in - but you are recharging the batteries at the same time.  Win-win!  Plus, isn't hockey mandatory up there?  Take a page from us Americans - be thankful and pass the potatoes.

Hee Hee... RG III just let the Cowboys back into the game... Gonna be close.  Unlike the browns drive for the draft pick - if you lose, you just lose...

Nice work on the run... Its nice we you get to run in warmer temps and get an hour extra sleep to boot... Kick some a$$ on Saturday.

Happy Turkey Day to Kevin and Cynthia.  Hope Thor and DH found a way to get in on the turkey and apple pie...  We probably had more food around our table tonight than the pilgrims...

Walked the Turkey Trot today with the kids so Heidi could run it.  I ran about a mile and my knee felt good, so I got that going for me which is nice... Heidi almost had a PR and I was really proud of her.

I spent the day working in the kitchen cooking the bird and the fixins and proud to report that I didn't burn anything.  Managed to get outside to play some football with the kids on an ABSOLUTELY beautiful day.  I was also able to find a new years day race to do with Heidi - It's called the Hangover Classic and it doesn't start 'til 11.  Perfect.

Just want to say that I'm thankful to you all for your support over the last 11 months.  You have helped me to change myself and for that I am eternally grateful.  Thank you!

PS - The Chocolate Chip Mint Stout is coming along well!  At 8% - it's gonna be tasty!

PPS - Kevin... just so you know, Heidi is rooting for the Skins.  Not only is she from VA but she thinks Mike Shanahan is hot.  With the recovery of the on side kick - looks like they are gonna squeak out a win.  Lucky.
