Did my double yesterday, 5 mile run/70min. spin. Missed my swim in between due to late work meeting....like a dog chasing his tail, around and around and around, what a waste of time!

Went for an 4 mile run this morning. Going to try put in 30 minutes on the cycle trainer.

Got on weight scale....down to 98kg! Shooting for 96 by Christmas and 86 by easter! Not sure if it is the no beer, watch my diet, working out or a combination of all 3.

Cheers!

Nice work. I was 186 this morning after a stack of pancakes and a pot of coffee so I am feeling pretty good about things too.

Just did my 6.2 miler at a 7:17/mi pace.  That's as fast as I've ever ran this run.  I'm setting up for a heck of a Bloomsday race in May as I'm already pacing close to my goal.

I got in 24 miles this week.  That's 3 weeks of 20 mile weeks in a row.  Next week I'm going to shoot for 16-20 miles and try to work on speed.

On a bad note, I'm pushing 193.  What hurt me this month was the 2nd trip to disneyland (beer store).  My plan moving forward is to Only go to the candy store 1 time a month.  I will only purchase 1 64oz.  growler and a 1/2 rack of barley pops for the entire month.  I just finished my last beverages last night, so my goal for this last week of November is to be down to 188 by weeks end.

fast for a fat guy. you get that weight down you are going to kill at the marathon. I think the further you go the more weight is a factor.

I agree with all you've said here.

It's just this:   I eat because I'm fat, and I'm fat because I eat.  It's a viscious cycle.

Nice work my disappearing friend.  I've got no clue about the metric system - but being under 100 has got to be good.  Great job on working out and have a really consistant week!  Keep it up Richard Simmnons

Quality work on the training.  I know you are jazzed by the fact that your speed is returning - and you should be.  But you should also know that the weight will come off as you continue to work out consistently.  Sure, limiting the amount of barley pops will help - but you are on the right track.  Plus, I agree with DH that dropping the weight for the marathon will help your time - but remember this - you've got tons of time.  And NOvember to December may just be the toughest time of the year to lose weight.  Cut yourself some slack and shoot for consistency.  Learn from your beloved skins - its more important to have a winning record than to just beat the cowboys.

Went for a run today.  A short one - 2.66 miles.  Had to walk a chunk of it due to knee pain.  But it's in the books.

I would love to set up a bet... My two thoughts were a bet for the month or a bet for the season.  The bet for the month, considering all the food we will consume over the holidays, would be that if you maintained your weight over the month - now until January 1 then you win.  If you gain weight, you lose and have to pay up.  The season bet could go from now until March 21 and be similar to what we had before where we each have goals and only have to pay up if we don't meet them.  I've gotta say - I find the competition motivating and I've got Kevin's card on my refridgerator inspiring me to not have that second beer each night.

Thoughts?

Woke up at 4:30 and got a three mile run in (decent 9 minute pace) and also managed a swin before work.  Yesterday I managed to stay under my calorie limit for the day - barely.  Back at it...  Sad to report that my shoulder aches and the bursiitis in my knee is bugging me.  So much for how a break allows you to recover and heal...

How's everyone else doing?  It's the 27th of November - 4 more days Thor until you can finally have that Molsen.

Well barring a catastrophe, I should make my training goals for the month.

This was my goal:

Okay so last month I was at approximately 16.5 hours of training for r/b/s. Even though I have $hit the bed with no training for the first 4 of the first 5 days of the month, my goal is to increase training to 20 hours...Let the games begin!

and this is where i am at:

November's totals:
Bike:10h 54m 30s  - 227.26 Mi
Run:6h 21m  - 42.21 Mi
Swim:1h 41m  - 5686.79 Yd

I hope to get  a short bike/run tomorrow and then crazy thursday with a run in the am then swim/bike in the evening...I am going to break my beer early as we are going for a beer after my last spin class...

Gotta start thinking up the challenge for December now...

Geez, we are going to have to take you out back of the woodshed and shoot you! Laughing

Good job on the calories and the run. Maybe skip running for awhile and just ride bike? Strong bike=strong run...

As I said in previous post, going to have a beer Thursday...hoping they have something decent on tap. That being said, I will be making a visit to the best beer store in my area to pick up some IPA's. Maybe something new or maybe the old standby!

I am in either way or both! I am on the weightloss road anyways so more incentive is always good especially during the Christmas season!

I read somewhere, every 10lbs will make a noticeable difference, especially on longer runs. I guess if you put 10lbs of potatos in your pocket and go for a run you will definitely notice a difference!

good work.

If I may suggest something. I find the timewise thing good for planning but poor for performance. It is easy to put in the time, hard to put in good time. So I would say, go for the same time goal for each sport but increase the distance for each sport by a modest 10 percent. So you have to reach both goals. Now you may not reach your distance goal in 20 hours, and that is fine, just means you have to put in a bit more time. And, if you reach your distance goals before your time goals then you score your self some easy end of month workouts.

Very true! Definitely going to try increase my distances vs time on bike and run...swim...not too worried about that until next year! May try and download a sufferfest video just for a change of pace. Anybody tried them?
