I still have some work to do, but I have at least achieved a portion of my goal. Here are the pictures (excuse the acne, I am still technically a junior):

beginning of my abs

My abs are finally showing.

still more work to be done

There's a picture of my upper body. I am really sick of that belly fat, and the remnants of the man boobs. Oh well, more work to be done!

At around 5'8", there's not that much space for fat to hide, so I think the majority of the fat that I will lose will be those two trouble areas and my thighs.

I did weigh in yesterday at 141.9 which is wonderful, I am ecstatic, and am dancing in the streets.  The problem is that I don't believe it.  That is too big of a drop since Wednesday so I was probably dehydrated or something.  I didn't weigh myself this morning before my coffee/breakfast and so will need to do it tomorrow.  If the scale still shows me down by that much, I will use the number, otherwise...  I am not sure.

The body fat percentage was still  mid-30's and I am not sure I believe that either.  A poster above said something about going to GNC to get calipers.  I didn't know they carried them.  Can you use them on yourself accurately?  If so, I will get some today just to get some confirmation as to how accurate my home bf scale is or is not.  Thanks.

I purchased some electronic BF calipers from power-systems.com last night, i'm waiting for them to arrive.  I think the scale is lying a bit and my BF is probably in fact a slight bit lower, we'll see when they arrive though   I will let you know how they work.

Sorry I've been MIA for a while.  I've been so busy I've barely had time to think!

I haven't been logging, and haven't been that good about my food .

I'm back today!

Can I join y'all now?  I know its a project already in motion for you all!  but, i'm 5'10, 155lbs...bf hovering between 19-20% (depending on my level of dehydration).  i'm training for long course races (HIM, IM, and 26.2) for the fall, but my real goal is to lose body fat and gain muscle to get back to my short course speediness from high school and college.  I'd really like to get my bf around 15%...

welcome aboard!!

had a slight run in with a car (or rather he ran into me), but still at it, road rash and all.

weight is sitting right on 148-50, bf still at 6-7% (not expecting that to change really), weight might come down a bit but not sure how much i want to push that this season, we'll leave dropping more muscle for off season running.

Well life has taken priority to body comp/fitness goals for now.  I just went on vacation, so I wasn't too concerned with losing any weight, but I did get in a few workouts (and mountain biking in breckenridge!) and now that I'm back I'm having to deal with some issues with getting my condo remodled and don't have the time for workouts.  I'll probably just participate in part two since I think I'm going to wait until September to try and lose anything since I haven't lifted in 2-3 weeks and last time I tried to lose weight after that kind of a layoff from lifting, I lost all sorts of strength since it's very hard to regain any while on reduced calories.  At least my weight is the same though, so I didn't gain anything while on vacation.

I have been receiving PM on how to calculate calories and choosing what food to eat to be lean. I have posted an article on how to set a diet, you can see it here http://blog.bodybuilding.com/otongki/2009/08/05/you-are-what-you-eat-easy-way-to-measure-your-daily-intake/

Just a question, how many here have food scale in their kitchen cabinet?

Hey did 2.0 happen yet?  I see you guys started a month ago and I would love to jump on board.  I started losing weight in 2006 and was well over 40% BF --I lost close to 40lbs, and was down to 27% in March, but also put on 11lbs of muscle.

I need to get on a better plan for my next HIM in March - just finished my first HIM a few wks ago.

I would love to join the group let me know if its too late!

I've been MIA from getting ripped for the past week or so--I'm actually up 2 pounds.  I'm having some problems with my foot, so I took a little over a week off of running, which is never good for my diet.  The less I train the more I eat for some reason.   Anyway, I'm trying to turn it around, and am toying with the idea of going Paleo for a month to see how it feels.  Does anyone have experience with this?

How is everyone doing?  I'm down to 181.2 which is around 3 lbs down from the start and i'm really beginning to notice some definition changes.  I have been slaving away in the gym with strength training rather than focusing on cardio and i have been noticing more results than usual.

Let's buckle down and finish this up!  We need some great progress this next week, then it's time for V 2.0!

I have a food scale!!!  (you didn't ask who *uses* them :-p)

Ugh - it's like no matter how much I want to, I can't keep myself in check.  I buy only good food, but then my boyfriend comes over and we buy icecream.  Free doughnuts in the lobby every Monday morning (I just can't say no).  Not enough time to cook, so I end up eating out...

I know I need ot sit and write it all out, I just don't want to spend the time  (or, I guess, ultimately, face myself and be honest).

I will say though, I'm trying to get in strength training about 2 times/week on top of tri training (my records here haven't been the most accurate, so don't go 100% by them - I think I recorded everything last week).  I took a pic of my upper back yesterday, and it looks hot - so there are *parts* of me that are ripped - now if I could just cut out the extra food/sugar and get my abs in shape, I'd be happy!

Anyone have tips on dealing with an insatiable (sp?) sweet tooth???  I know you're 'supposed' to start losing the cravings after 2-3 weeks of no sugar, but I don't know if I will ever be able to make it even 1 week without giving in!!

Gum really helps. And I wouldn't do no sugar, just reward yourself with one serving of sweets a day, or save up for something bigger less frequently.

Eat more fiber and drink plenty of water... You can opt for aspartame for your dessert and coffee/tea. Gum is also helps a lot not just for the sweet tooth, but also with hunger.

It's like wanting to pee in the middle of a race, just think of something else

Question for you: do you measure your food regularly with the food scale?
