I'm excited for my weekend. I have a weekend where I get to plan most of what I am doing instead of having a full calendar running from one thing to another. As the saying goes, life is what happens when you make other plans. Went for a run Saturday night and literally came staggering home (Severe chest pains, blah, blah, blah). Wife rushed me to the hospital and now I am finally home. The tests all come back fine. Angiogram doesn't show any blockage or narrowing of the arteries. Heart function looks normal, mostly. They did find that my heart pauses after a deep breath but they weren't overly concerned about it after the angiogram. I am supposed to go back in to see the cardiologist in a couple of weeks. I guess that means I am out of the challenges for the next little while. Which brings my first tri season to an end without even doing a single race. I know "All those posts and you haven't even done a single race?" I like to chat and I like the challenges to keep me going. I had this whole season mapped out with a race every month from April through Aug and something came up every time (sickness, family obligation, etc). I was going to do a late season tri next month but now that is out too. Hopefully everything will be in order soon so I can get back on track and be ready for next season. I hope its ok if I still hang around even though I can't do the challenge. Like I said, I like to chat. Oh my gosh! I'm glad you are all right! I'm glad your wife took you to the hospital. Hopefully your docs can figure what caused the problem and get you fixed back up. There will always be another race. Of course you can stay here and chat! I was kinda wondering where you were. You always give an update (or two) on your day. Take care of yourself! |

It is totally understandable that you take some time off, but still hang out. Lots of us have done that while injured or sick. |

Of course it's OK if you hang out despite withdrawing from the challenge. *I* withdrew from the challenge a long time ago and have barely done a workout -- and yet, here I am, inflating my post count. So it seems that this Apr-Aug didn't work out for you. But there's always next year! |

Hopefully the cardiologist won't find anything too serious! You should definitely stick around for the chatting though... I know a lot of my friends who've been injured still go to tri club events and volunteer a lot just to keep them motivated in the sport and involved in the community. You can always aim for an early-season tri for next year, once your doctor gives you the go-ahead! |

Edited to fix my horrible spelling. Me too! Except for the inflated tires part. My commuter bike seems to like getting flats. To be fair, the streets of chicago aren't exactly the best kept-up roads, so I'm sure the bike also doesn't appreciate all the gravel/glass/crap/potholes/grooves, etc that it sees on a daily basis. (It flatted for the second time in a week yesterday and I'm only minorly annoyed! Especially since I was on my way to work and had to take the train the rest of the way). |
