I went out Sunday for a nice recovery run after my DU practice run on Sat. Wen about .25 miles when I slipped on the ice. To make a very long and painful story short, I just got out of the hospital. I broke my tibia in two places, shattered my fibia and completly dislocated my ankle. I now have a steel plate for a fibia and 9 bolts holding the rest of my bones together. The Doc said I tore 100% of my ligiments and he had to sew me together. Due to the damage, he is unsure if I will ever compete again. At first he said I might not run again. Right now I don't ever want to anyway. Maybe in a week, I will rethink my plan, but now I am in pain, but I got to come home. This all said, I think I better withdraw from the challenge. K From one Kendra to another, I'm am so sorry to hear about your news. Heal well! |

Royal(PITA) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Those who are healthy better be out running and updating the spread sheet or I may resort to finding the whip that Dee once cracked at a previous challenge team. I think Mila has it right now, but I'm sure it could be found ![]() |

Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Kendra- That's crappy news!!! Just do what the MD's tell you, and take it really slow with any exercise! It's better to not do anything than to try and get back on it too soon. I have heard too many stories of broken this or that, and gung ho attitude for recovery only to end in twice as long a recovery time. At the same time, I don't buy the "your not going to compete again". Just take your time getting back, and you'll be fine. |

Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Thank you soo much team for your encouragement. The break really hurts, even with morphine and oxycotin, but it seems to be the heart that hurts, because of how bad I wanted to race. It will be back. I will be checking your logs to make sure you are not slacking!! I need a nap, talk to ya all soon. K |

Sounds like you have a good doc, in that he wants to get you moving rather than sitting around. You will be back and running I am sure. |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Hey team ... Sorry for being so AWOL. February has been a REALLLLLY rough month for me. I somehow managed to injure my back and was out of commission with that for 8 days. Near the end of that time (Feb. 14), I left to head back to Tennessee due to my brother-in-law's unexpected death. I'm still not home yet (going home Sunday), but I'm slowly starting to get in some walk/run time again. It's still pretty slow going though as I'm be really gentle with my back to avoid injuring it again. My original goal for the challenge was 35 miles. There is no way I can reach that at this point. Rather than dropping out all together due to the injury, can I downgrade my goal 23 miles? That would put me needing to finish 10 miles in the next week. |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Hi everyone. I just finished updating the spreadsheet for this week since my Sat workout is done. I have met my goal. Actual % showing right now is 111%. Dee: note that it is included in the total team average so if you're not going to allow us to go over, I should just adjust to 100. Other option is to modify the formulas accordingly. |

Hi Bunny, way to get out there and run in spite of all you have going on. I hope your sister is doing well, and that her and the kids are managing to right their world that has been turned up side down. |

Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() OK team. I just logged my miles and we are at ~75%. Not bad, but we can do better!!!! I ran outside today. Weather was nice, fresh air was nice, but the snow still on the neighborhood trail was a PITA!! Slippery slushy messy stuff. I think the fresh air and sunshine made up for it though ![]() -Kurt |

Royal(PITA) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Well., I cleande my kids bedrooms last night and stirred up my asthma in the process--still got 4 miles in today (this was supposed to be a 5 miler--my goal getting out was if I felt bad at X intersection I'd make it the short loop, then I passed that one and on my way back in played the same intersection head game until I got home.) It wasn't a bad run, just hard to run when the lungs are burning... |

Dee: note that it is included in the total team average so if you're not going to allow us to go over, I should just adjust to 100. Other option is to modify the formulas accordingly. Hi Dcon, Don't worry about the formulas.... Tomorrow, I'm going to make a new column on all the spreadsheets. The existing column will show your current percentage. The new column will have the amount actually counted towards your team's total. For example, your current percentage will read 111%. But the new column will show 110% counted towards the Gingerbread Jogger's total. I did this last month, too. I wanted people to see how much they had actually accomplished (based upon the goal that they set.) But I also had to limit the percentages. So I just tacked a column onto the end of the spreadsheet for this. ![]() Dee |

Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() i've just logged my run so that puts us at 79.4 if i remember right. I see that everybody is doing their best to keep upping the numbers. GREAT JOB GINGERS! every mile/minute counts and can't be taken back. Say no to tribal avatars and keep your personal image. |

Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() My knees are bothering me a little today, at work. Tonight I think I will take the dog on a nice long walk to loosen up a little. I'm not going to count this as a run. I need to get my pup in shape too, so he can run with me a little. He is getting older (9 this summer) and is a little but "chnky". I'll start with long walks, and then add in a little running here and there. |
