Expert 760 Memphis, TN | Subject: RE: Sale on Javelin complete bikes I have left a couple of phone messages, but was curious if anyone knows what sizes they have left in the Parma and Garda. I am new to road biking and not exactly sure what size I need. I think I need a 55. I am 5'10 with a 30in inseam. These deals look awesome. I hope they still have some in stock...I have been looking at getting a Scott s40, but if I can get a comparable or better bike for a 3rd of the price...just hope I am not too late! |

Veteran 509 Oak Park, IL | Subject: RE: Sale on Javelin complete bikes I believe when we called yesterday they had the Garada in a 55 and 59. My friend has since bought but there could still be more left. Not sure about the Parma. I do remember they only had their smallest size in the Fara. wes mantooth - 2008-03-27 2:08 PM I have left a couple of phone messages, but was curious if anyone knows what sizes they have left in the Parma and Garda. Expert 760 Memphis, TN | Subject: RE: Sale on Javelin complete bikes Thanks to Bear! I ended up getting the Garda in a 57 with Dave's recommendation. This will be my first road bike, so I hope the sizing is right. I have a friend that just got a new felt in a 58 and he is the same height as me, so I think I should be good. Being a newbie, does anyone have any pedal and shoe recommendations? You can PM me if this is too off topic. |

Veteran 246 western iowa, almost nebraska. | Subject: RE: Sale on Javelin complete bikes So far I, (being the bicycle mechanic of our group), have assembled a 55 cm Sizzano, a 51 cm Parma, a 55cm Varese and tonight I am going to sample a 55 cm garda. The Campy veloce component group I really liked. The shifting on the veloce I felt was as crisp and light as my dur ace bike. I bought the parma for my son, my only thing I disliked with it was Campy used plastic brake levers on there low end stuff. Not a huge deal, however when you wreck they take some abuse, and to have a lever snap off mid race would suck. Otherwise, for the price of a wal mart bike, the Parma is a great deal. Garda is a good deal also. The varese and sizzano I think is the best deal I have seen in a very long time. Both bikes are easy on the scale and from my short test rides have a very good riding position for hours in the saddle. |

Veteran 267 Sterling, VA | Subject: RE: Sale on Javelin complete bikes I had a pro fit this morning and here is what I learned. The 57cm, for my height (5'10" ) and inseam (30.5" ), with my "bit less than average leg length and a longer torso" was probably a hair big for me. A 55cm probably would have been spot on, but for what it's worth, it could have been a lot worse I may not be 100% ideal, but I am about 95% there. I know everyone is different, but if it helps anyone else who can't get to a fitter and is looking for the approximate angles/sizes (for someone my size), here are my Original / Changed measurements: Your mileage may vary. Bottom Bracket to Top of Saddle (Pedal): 66.9cm (84.2) / 72.8cm (89.7) Crank Arm Length: 172.5cm / 172.5cm Seat Set-back: +1.5cm / +1.3cm Effective Seat Angle: 77 deg. / 77.7 deg Nose of Saddle to Rear of Arm Rest: 48cm / 46cm Aerobar Length: 34cm / 29.7cm Arm Rest Width (center to center): 17cm / 21.5cm Arm Rest Drop: +0.4cm / -4.7cm Aerobar Tilt: +7 deg / +4 deg Saddle Tilt: -5 deg / -1.7 deg Knee Angle @ Bottom Center: L 122 deg, R 124 deg / L 144 deg, R 143 deg Knee over Peddle Spindle: L 92 deg, R 93 deg / L 105 deg, R 103 deg Hip Angle: 105 deg / 105 deg Shoulder Angle: 105 deg / 92 deg -- Enjoy. Omg there were so many bikes. Now I am at home with my new racing bike. Jealous? yeah your jealous. . Um, no, not really, because my bike is put together and I've already ridden it...twice. Heh. I must say...the Narni is super light...it's ridiculous. This is compared especially to my tank of a road bike. It's beyond me. Now I just have to get used to being in a true aero position. My girly parts aren't liking it so much right now. Edited by maggyruth 2008-03-28 7:04 AM |

5 | Subject: RE: Sale on Javelin complete bikes does anyone know if they still have parma's in? and possibly what sizes. Is anyone in over the weekend? Dave's message says he is out until april 14 (They will all be gone if I wait that long!) Is Geoff in on saturdays or anytime over the weekend or do I need to with until monday? I'm most interested though in what they have left, specifically the parmas. |

I'm begging for somebody to tell me there's a 54 cm Fara in stock so I can work on my wife again!chirunner134 - 2008-03-26 3:36 PM well step 1) double check and if they have it order it. Step2) if step 1 was done. take the bike and throw under the wheels of the car. step 3) tell so tale of woe and that you will save money and order new bike Step 4) repeat for every bike you want to replace. I can't bring myself to call. I just have to believe they have no more 54 cms in stock (it's far too average a frame size to not have sold out of by now).hehehe.... I ordered a 55 Fara for hubby. Worried now it'll be too big... so there just may be a 55 Fara available, but not at the factory. |

I think the photo above is an '07. The '06's have the Easton's and that's what they're specked out for. |

Elite 4148 Utah | Subject: RE: Sale on Javelin complete bikes HELP!!!!!! Ok, well, I'm gonna call Geoff on MOnday (I don't think they're in on Sat's). Went for a ride this morning (only my 3rd ride) Been having problem's tuning front derailler. I had the bike shop adjust it again last week. On my ride this morning the chain kept rattling and once again, I was never able to shift onto the small chain ring. Got back in from my ride and noticed the fram where the derailler attaches is CRACKED!!!!!! I'm scared. Even at the outrageuously low prices, this was still a major purchase (and we bought 2!!) Any additional advice is welcomed |

1 | Subject: RE: Sale on Javelin complete bikes Hey I saw you got a tri bike too. I got the Narni in a 51 cm and I am 5'4" with relatively long legs. I was wondering if you found that you were a little too streched out in the aero position on your bike... |

I ride a 54 right now, and I'm between 5'11" and 6', but I'm starting to wonder about Javelin's geometry. My wife just bought herself a nice cruiser today. Contact me if things don't work out, my birthday is coming up! |

I was wondering if you found that you were a little too streched out in the aero position on your bike... I'm still pretty new, so I'm not quite sure how I should feel. As I was riding around the 'hood today getting comfortablein the position, I think I'm pretty good. I feel like my center of gravity is maybe just a few inches behind the stem. Is that correct? |

Veteran 267 Sterling, VA | Subject: RE: Sale on Javelin complete bikes I rode mine in my first race of the season yesterday, and I have to say, it flat out rocked. Now I just need to take it over to a wrench that specializes in Campy parts to work out some kinks that my gearing has. *Note to self: In the future, take Campy bikes to Campy shops, or the Shimano guys will set up the gearing like a Shimano bike. Nothing inherently wrong with it, just a matter of a few rough spots. I loved the fact that there were so few (if any beyond my Varese and my friend's Parma) Javs out at the race, amongst a bunch of Cervelo, Trek and Specialized frames. It was quite easy to find my bike at transition Now to start working on upgrading... Record here I come (*cough* next year...) |

Geoff said that it needs to be put together at a bike shop to keep the warrenty? Is that true? I thought other people on here have assembled it themselves. |

Definitely, go to bike shop. They'll charge you about $50 to $75 dollars, but it's well spent knowing it's all together and warranty secured. |
