I had a great run this morning, my best run in a long while. Best of all, it counts towards the Knockers goal!

Thanks, I've been working on it.  It is my biggest motivator.

In my long term goals I have (had?) to see the knot in my bellybutton.  It has been hiding for too long.  Laughing

I was hoping to get in 3 miles today.  I was on schedule until I realized that I had to swing by the grocery store.  I ran a mile.  I put out a good effort and it ended up being 9 seconds faster than yesterday.  Yay!  8:20 with hills.

I just read all the messages about how many challenges people had lost.  We aren't going to lose, ar we?  I didn't join this challenge to lose.  And now I have to go read every single message on this site in order to find out how Michelle got those abs.  And I am supposed to be working.

I would also like to know how Melissa got her abs.

I, too, have never missed a challenge goal ~ maybe that's why our team won last month, huh Nicole?!    So this must be the month for it to all turn around for those of you who have never won!!

Soooo, does a 2 minute push up session count towards my weight training goal here?  I did my assessment test for my 100 push up challenge and am 1/2 way there ~ I was able to knock out 50!  I'm totally stoked about it too.  To whole heartedly earn my point for today though, I will be going to the gym later tonight to lift and hopefully have time to throw in a bit of cardio!!

*this was posted elsewhere, but I'm lazy.

This time last year I peaked at 145lbs.  I am currently down to 115-I think that I was 14 years old the last time I was at this weight.  I am 5'3"

My tricks to loosing weight:
Got off medications that caused me to eat junk food like a pig. (10lbs off) January
Didn't eat foods that my gut doesn't tolerate.
No more Gluten (5lbs off)  February
Worked on being at least a little active (5lbs off)
Did a really short sprint tri with minimal training(fathers day)
-my only goal was to have fun and not injure myself
Became addicted to triathlons
Started doing little training-mainly swimming
Discovered BT
Did a half mile OWS (early August)
Did a more challenging sprint tri- half mile(against the tide) 14 mile bike (really hilly) 3 mile run (rolling hills) (mid August)
Discover my gut doesn't like dairy-No more milk, cheese, ice cream, yogurt....
-I also have to limit foods with citric acid and cannot have anything with MSG.
It took 2 weeks to figure out what the heck I actually could eat(august)
-mostly meat, nuts, soy, an a few gluten free foods that actually taste decent.
-lost a few more lbs because I didn't eat much for 2 weeks.
Discovered the challenge forum(august)
Joined challenge teams to keep myself on track.(Aug.)  -it was the battleship abs challenge.
Even though I didn't finish I got in some good core workouts
Did a minisprint at the subaru women's tri (early sept) and met a BT gal!
Made friends on BT so that I have motivation to do well-and support when things don't go so well.
Did a 25 mile womens fund-raising Bike ride-met 5 BT gals (end of sept)
Did a tri on impulse-a WA BT guy was considering so I said that I would join him.  It was the same course as my first tri so I was curious to see how much progress I'd made.(0ct)
-I took off 24+ minutes Laughing I did walk the run of my first tri though.
Did a 5k trail run with a friend/BTer
Currently I am running 1-3 miles almost everyday before school.

That is about it.  I have only swam once since the last tri and I haven't biked at all (I am not comfortable with biking with all the cars in the rain or in the fog).

Oops-I forgot something...I am working on a horticulture degree and one of my classes includes a bit of grounds work on the campus.  The soil here is hard clay and rocks.  It is often water logged as well.  My tasks have included transplanting several good sized trees-it takes 2 hours of really sweaty and dirty work to get them out.  It also takes a loader or forklift to move them.  the other significant task is planting shrubs and trees.  My tool of choice is the mattock-a pick ax/regular ax with a blade resembling an adz on the reverse side.  That is how I developed my biceps-Let me get a pic for you.

Hi Knockers!

It's great to read what everyone's up to and YES of course 2 min counts. That's 2 min more than 0!

So far I've got 37 of 250 run minutes "knocked" off, heh heh.

Much admirations. It would be a miracle and huge goal reaching if I made TWO morning workouts this MONTH. Then again, I've got genuine difficulties getting and staying going. But still! Even under normal circumstances I am in AWE of people who can consistently get morning workouts in.

I'm generally up at 5:30 and out the door (or in the basement) about 6am x5 days a week. I keep an off day each weekend so I can catch up on sleep! Wink

Me too-I think I must be sick or something-I have never consistently worked out before the last couple of weeks(except HS teams).   I barely reached my goal in September-and it was conservative.

<sarc>I am soooo slick</sarc>.  I have way more schoolwork to do tonight than I could get done under normal circumstances.  So what do I do?  I give myself a concussion.  How? I am very talented.  I took a bag out of the car and put it on the ground.  I then turned as I was standing up to get another bag out of the car, but I didn't make it that far.  I slammed my head into the edge of the car door and almost knocked myself silly.  fortunately there was another car right behind me so I just teetered over, stumbled back a bit, and caught myself against it.  It hurt so bad that I didn't even cry out.

I went into the house and put a cold pack against my head.  About 3 minutes later the opposite side of my head starts to throb.

This has turned out to be a fairly mild concussion...no nausea and minimal light and sound issues.  I will go visit a doctor if I develop any more symptoms.

I now have a nice lump/ridge along the left side of my forehead.  I wonder if it will be black and blue tomorrow.

You know what?  I almost wish it was worse.  There is no way I am going to get all my assignments done.  My GPA is going to suffer.    I was expecting a 4. this quarter.  I would have had it easily if I hadn't gotten sick several times...

I have a final tomorrow and all assignments must be turned in to receive credit.

Oh no, Melissa! Well, worse or not, a concussion is awful and I'm so sorry. Maybe you can go in with your lumpy forehead and plead your case?
