Hey Everyone!!

I hope everyone had a good day.

We got our first taste of Urgent Care this morning. Our son's cough continued to get worse and he started weezing when he breathed, so the doctor told us to have him checked out. Nothing serious which is good, they gave him something to help him breath. Hopefully he sleeps better tonight, I can use the rest.

It was good to get out and run today. It was windy, but sunny and not too cold. My dog was thankful to go out and get the exercise, as was I. It was tough only doing 3 miles, but that was the plan. Next week is 5, so I'll probably wish I only had to do 3

I hope everyone is having a great weekend so far...although it's still early Saturday morning here so there's a lot of weekend left.  I am hoping to get a ride tomorrow with Lynne (yay!) and today I should go do a long run but I am waiting for the rain to stop.  I have to keep up my daily pink squares, so far January has been good for me that way.  I've managed to log my nutrition all week,  and have eaten pretty well.  It's all in the mind.  I also drank over my 100 ounces of water every day.

I posted a pic in my blog yesterday of my new team uni for the LUNA Chix.  I am psyched!  What is everyone else up to?  Welcome home, Kristen!

Groovy groovy Luna Chic. And great job with the pink squares and logging your eating. YOU CAN DO THIS!

Hi, Guys!

Woke up with a cold and all I want to do is curl up in bed with a good magazine. But, had a bunch of stuff that had to get done (take Holly snowshoeing, clean the barn, pick up a load of hay). Now, it's all done and I can kick up my feet until I have to go back to the barn to feed dinner.

It was supposed to be a rest day anyway and I'm planning to do some strength and stretching after dinner. I'm assuming I'll get my second wind, lol.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Hope you're feeling better!

Oh no - hope your little guy gets better soon. It's tough when they're sick.

Nice job on the run - I sometimes have a hard time holding myself back too - particularly when the plan drops back a few miles from the previous week's long run. I guess that's the point though.

Happy Monday, Everyone!

Hope you have a great day...

I'm finally recovered from my whirlwind trip to the west coast...but I decided to cancel another business trip I had planned for the end of February - the traveling is just too hard, especially in the winter with weather delays, etc.

On deck for today - must swim!

Oh, poor thing!  It sounds like he has RSV- it has been a really bad year for it. Unfortunately not much to do besides wait it out, and it can go on awhile.  The only good thing is that it seems like albuterol is helping more kids than usual with this strain (it's the nebulizer or inhaler treatment that is often used).

I got back safely from my trip to NH- only a little hairy driving.  I'm very proud of my son, who fenced well (for him) against tough competition, and even beat a ranked fencer in the pools!  He was chuffed (as my Brit mom would say!).  It's always interesting to watch the bad coaching examples there- there are some really nasty former Eastern bloc fencing coaches who just lay into these poor little kids, most of whom end up in tears.  I'm fortunate that my kids' coaches have a much different philosophy.  I just want them to have fun- they don't need to go to international competitions, as long as they enjoy it, I'll support it.

I did get a little trainer ride in when i got home.  I had a workout planned for this afternoon at the gym, but got waylaid by work (I have to figure out how to prevent that...).

Wow, fencing is a sport that I don't think has made it to the West coast.....sounds interesting, though, and I am glad your son did well!

Lynne, you might post in a different BT forum to see if anyone has insight, I am sure you will find help there!

I made it to the gym today for a spin ride and also did my Shred DVD...so far, so good.  My is still being kicked although I did move up to level 2 (of 3).  My big news is that I just found out we get to go be in the audience at the Oprah show for my 40th birthday next month!!  I am very psyched.  Haven't been to Chicago for a while, and my husband has never been, so that will be fun.

Awesome job by your son, Karen - I hope my kids always end up with good coaches...although there is something to say about coaches that are a little too kum-bay-ya...I want my kid to be encouraged to do her best and not just be content because the coach praises no matter what.

Chuffed? Huh. I'd love to be able to use that word in a sentence one day.

Cool news about Oprah, Leslie!

I love Chicago (lived in the burbs and worked downtown for 2 years...about 3 years back - and I grew up in Illinois). I never made it to Oprah, though.

You'll have a blast!

They did give him albuterol which does seems to help some when we can get him to breath it in. He gets pretty fussy, so it does not always go smoothly. Not too excitied to hear that it can take a while, not sure how much longer I can take the lack of sleep...

Anyway, I am taking the day off mainly because I have a cold (big surprise.) I hope everyone has a good workout for those who are working out.

Fencing was popular by me growing up around NYC, but have not seen or heard of it since I moved to the Midwest. Always seemed like it would be fun to do.

Hey all.  How we all doin!?  Kids ok? Everyone healthy?  I hope so. I managed to get a swim in! The pool was the busiest I've seen it since joining this gym almost a year ago. I did 50 meter sprints to try and get my speed up to whack.  Fastest was 42 seconds!!!! Felt like my arms were going to fall off. Hehehe.  Water was nasty too. Blech.  I am missing running SO much! So tomorrow I'm going to try a wee trot.  Yes I am.   When the older kid goes back to college in Portland I'll have mornings free again. Right now I have to drive his sister to school so HE can take the car for the day.   I'd rather get up at 6am to go running that to go to work.   Why is that?

Morning, all!

Oh, I soooooo prefer to get up early to run than to do anything else. Unfortunately this week I'm still whacked from jet lag and can't get up to do anything.

I've been getting lots of sleep though, so hopefully that will clear up soon...

So what's up for today?

Hi everyone,

I am still fighting off a cold, but did make it down the the gym during lunch to run 3 miles. Not the best run, but I needed the miles...

The little one now has an ear infection, so the doctor gave me some antibiotics. Hopefully they will knock it out quickly and he can get some good sleep (me too!!)

It is cold here too, I saw 5 degrees on my drive in to work this morning. No fun!!!

Oh, I hope you and your son are feeling better soon!  It's just not a fun disease.

I'm trying to figure out how to get a workout in.  I'm tired, and grumpy (some political stuff at work- not at my job but within a national organization I'm a part of), and I'm going to be driving most of the evening to fencing and back.  If I have time after my 3pm meeting I may go to the gym.

Keep warm everyone!

OK - you win...5 degrees is COLD. We're just below freezing, but living in "the south" has thinned my usually-hearty midwestern blood.

Hope you and the little guy feel better soon.

Sorry to hear about the grumpy stuff...hope you are able to step back and stay sane. Going to the gym will help with that.

Do you have a speciality w/i peds? (Just curious - we went to our ped yesterday for Younger daughter's 4-year well-child (5 shots - ewww)...and I just remembered how much I love my ped.)

HAPPY HUMP DAY!

How's it going, folks?

Decided to take the day off from work today, so I am relaxing. Another rough night with the little man, and my wife is now sick, so I decided it would be better for me to help out today. I also have to drive up to Omaha tomorrow morning for the day (6 hrs of driving total), which can be draining.

I did hop on the trainer this morning and got a good workout in. Last couple of years I would just ride an exercise bike as my indoor bike workouts, but riding on the trainer feels like a much tougher workout. I still need to spend more time on my aero bars.

Anyway, hope everyone is feeling ok and having a good day...

Lynne -

Have you seen this site? competitivecyclist.com

I saw it mentioned on another thread - don't know much about it myself, but apparently it has some self-fitting information.
