I bought a used Garmin  Edge 305 off of craigslist the other day.  I'm now realizing that I have to be at least bronze member of bt.com to upload my data to the site. Is this true?

Yes, you do have to have an upgraded membership (bronze, silver, gold). Here's a link to all the instructions if you are interested.

http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/cms/article-detail.asp?articleid=1504

If you have problems check the Garmin site to ensure you have the latest software downloaded to your computer. It took me awhile to figure this one out.

You can also use the Training Center software, which downloads the info to your computer instead of BT. It keeps track of the same info and a few more things.

Is is free to download/upload courses from BT. Have fun with the 305!

Team,

I was listening to some old podcasts while traveling and wanted to let you all know of a great podcast that I have followed called "Get your geek on"

http://www.podcastdirectory.com/podcasts/7258

It's a guy (Tri Kahuna) and girl (Iron Will) who have been running the podcasts for almost 3 years. The series starts during Iron Will's first year while, Tri-Kahuna has been doing them for years. There's a ton of great info on them, especially if you are new/novice triathlete.

You can also get them from itunes if you have an iPod. Wanna sample first - listen to the newbie show episode 11. They come in handy during long runs/workouts.

There are tons of other podcasts out there, but none that are as informative and useful for people relatively new to the sport. Have fun listening!

thanks to everyone for all the great shares...very helpful. I went to all3sports on Saturday and started lusting after the Cervelo P1. Did a great outdoor run....50 degrees (not 15) around stone mountain....not used to hills on the treadmill! How'd RunGirl do Sunday?

r28723 - 2009-01-26 8:37 AM  How'd RunGirl do Sunday?

I did very well on my race, thanks for asking. As Mo mentioned I had set a couple of personal goals for myself for this race and I was able to achieve them all First, I wanted to finish with a smile on my face, which I did and I think there should be a decent picture of me crossing the finish line from the race photographer. Secondly, I wanted to run the 8K in less than an hour, which I also did at 51:31 minutes. Thirdly, I had been secretly hoping to beat my best 8K training run time of 56 minutes. I wasn't too sure how my last goal was going to work out considering that the weather was so cold and this was my first ever 8K. I also took 30 seconds off of my best 5K time. So, overall the race went really well and was a great experience. I did have a nightmare the evening before the race that I got to the start line but had forgotten my race bib. I actually did forget my race bib but thankfully, it was in the trunk of my car. LOL! I not to sure what else to mention but if anyone has a question about the race or how I did, please fire away.

How cold was it?

its too earlier to be nervous..

is this your first half? If so, make sure you get one 13 mile run in prior to the race.. you have to time to progress slowly..

My first half.. i had two months to get ready for it.. my furthest run was 10.5.. i felt i have enough 5k's under my belt, to will me through the remainder of the race... Though i did finish in a decent time.. i wish i would have gotten to feel what 11, 12, and 13 miles felt like before running it in a race. i would go so much to say run a 15 miler, go pass the distance.

everybody is different.. of course.. just a heads up from experience..

if you have more questions on prep let me know.. i have a lot to share. about the 1/2 marathon.. do and don'ts

I will definitely take you up on the half mary thoughts..I've run consistently but not for distances...slowly building up my endurance w/running..so far so good. I've been so focused on the tri training I haven't focused just on the marathon part.

You will definitely make it.  If you can run 1, you can run 3.  If you can run 3, you can run 5.  Etc.  You're being smart and slowly building.  You will do great!

Congrats RunGirlRun on your race and making all of your goals!

I've been sick for the past week, but finally got back to training today - Amazingly, working out seems to have done away with the last of my sickness. I also wanted to thank all of you guys for keeping me going -- in previous tri-seasons, I've gotten derailed early on by getting busy or getting sick and not getting back into it. Knowing that I have you guys here has really helping me keep with it this time.

welcome back mildew..glad you're on the mend...I guess dealing with "other factors" is all part of the training process.

Started reading Total Immersion that Mo rec'd...if the author is correct....my stroke technique is way off......better to find out now I guess...thanks Mo!

Sorry I have been on and off the air - Just returned from a week long business trip and the only thing I want is......

To run outside(might be kind of hard today with 9 inches of snow)                                           To ride my OWN bike - no more trainer                                                                                     To finally get a swim workout - I hope I haven't forgotten too much

Sounds like everyone is doing well. Take care and have a great week.

picked up my new Cervelo P1 yesterday and she's a beaut! Now, if I didn't have the crud, I'd get out and ride it! No more tyranny of the stationery bike.
