Got new tri shorts though Zoot blue PUMPED!!! You gotta love a guy my size in tri shorts! Not running in them don't want to cause too many accidents.

Got up and ran 7 miles this am! Have a 10 K race next Mon in Boston. Should be fun. Costumes last year made the race very interesting.

Zoot is my favorite I have what seems a zillion pieces of zoot gear. I just got some winter running gloves that a a reflective hula dancer on the palms I think. I like their tri-fit shorts and tri suits. I have found several bargains lately on ebay on zoot stuff. I just got tri-fit shorts, a pack jacket and a long sleeve top the past day all for a fraction of their MSRP. Today I was in a bike shop and they had zoot tri-fit shorts in my size but at full retail I just couldn't go for it.

Anybody got suggestions for carving out the schedule longterm? I'm inundated with work (in fact, still at the office now!). I'm bound and determined to get to the gym tonight come hell or high water. Tooth and nail, friends. I'll get there.

SURPRISE!

It's a SURPRISE CHALLENGE UPDATE!

Yeah. Kind of like those Pop Quizzes that you hated while you were in school.

Why? Because I enjoy torturing you, keeping you all on your toes.

The CURRENT CHALLENGE STANDINGS are:
1st place - Show Us Your Ghoulies - 17.9%
2nd place - E.V.I.L. Running Reapers - 17.5%
3rd place - Crypt Keepers - 16.6%
4th place - Running Pumpkins - 12.6%

And in the SECONDARY (POST PADDING) CHALLENGE: (Because you KNOW there's always a secondary challenge!)
Well, what can I say?
It's Show us your Ghoulies by a landslide.

BUT it's only October 6th, so RUN RUN RUN (or I'll taser you).

From Challenge Central, this has been your Week 1 update.

Run before work
Run during lunch
Have your workout clothes pulled out or packed up depending where you'll be running
Run on the weekends or on your day off first thing in the morning so you get it done

Hi all,
Good work so far! I've been on the other side of the country (Australia) for the last week and haven't been able to get to the internet However I did get 2 runs done so I've logged at bit over 1 hour out of my 11.5 goal. Now to get stuck in.

I think maybe the spreadsheet wasn't completely up-to-date for the 1 week check-in.... I just looked now and it looked like we're at about 23% complete now. Keep up the good work, Punkins!

And just to add another post and help with the post-padding part of the challenge....

My youngest came home from school with a fever yesterday. Poor baby.... No respiratory symptoms, though, so I don't think it's swine flu. I hope the rest of us stay healthy!!!

Hi gang!
I hadn't posted my two sessions, so I did that just now. Hopefully we can catch up to the Ghoulies! I found time to go to the gym last night and ran, I also did a full body strength training circuit and swam a little. [I couldn't not! It was too tempting, especially since I ran in the pool.]

I was going to take today off, but I'm not feeling very sore, so perhaps I'll have another go round. As someone who never consensually ran before, I must say it's been interesting. As I anticipated, my endurance isn't very good, but as the song goes, it has to start somewhere, it has to start sometime - what better place than here? what better time than now?

Riley

Good job, Riley!!

Got another 5 miles in this morning.

Ran in a new pair of racing flats this morning! SWEET!! I really like the feel of less shoe.... anybody else moving toward minimalist footwear for running?

So good rain falling here on the seacoast of NH this morning... my question to my pumpkins is... If I run in the rain does that count as a swim too? Off for an hour, since I slacked yesterday after my bike and didn't go because I didn't have my HRM.

I know I know slacker big time.

For the past 2 years I have tried to have a non-heal-strike running style.  I don't know if I was much of a heal striker to begin with, but I do have some 5 finger shoes that I occasionaly do a few miles in and I hown a pair of running flats.  So I have toyed with the idea, I just am afraid to use the flats for longer runs.  They do feel very lite in comparison to my other shoes.  I certainly won't be wearing them for my 30k trail run coming up in a little over 2 weeks.

Weight training tonight so no run until tomorrow.  I feel like such a bum only doing one workout a day and taking a day of some weeks.  It is a real cut back from IM training, I hope I don't get too used to it.
