Steve nice run.  That hill where you hit 10:25 must of felt great!  Just out of curiousity, do you have the elevation profile for those hills.

Nice work team!

The main hills were elevation gain of 300, 200, 600, 200 ish.  Total elevation gain 2000 feet, but it felt like a lot more than that due to the rocky footing.  That is based on garmin so who knows what reality is 8).  The biggest hill was at 1:30:00 ish into the run.

My race in 2 weeks has 3000 feet of elevation gain, basically 3 x 1000 feet in elevation climbs.  Fun stuff.  Those are my two 18 or more mile runs for this month, then next month is the big build before the marathon in January.  The marathon starts with a 3.5 mile sharp downhill to fry your thighs in the first 20 minutes of the race 8) and then uphills at mile 13 and 21.

Good times, keep it up all we will nail this challenge.

Good morning Team mates!

My plan for today is a short easy run and then a swim later. We have a hurricane (Ida) heading our way, she should veer east but heavy rain and winds should start settling in later today. Hopefully all will be well by Wednesday for my long run.

I'll check back with y'all later.

Good morning team! Hope everyone is okay on this fine monday. The weather is still gorgeous here!!  sorry to hear about the coming storm, Blujay! Stay dry!

As for me, feeling good about hitting my goals for the week. Today will be hectic. I am in on the funding requests for the government program i work for so it's always a rush at this time of year! But I do get Wednesday off as a holiday. So looking forward to it!

I have a bike and a swim on the schedule. I will definitely do the bike but the swim could be deferred because I might be here late.

Good morning all! Six mile run this morning at 5:15am with my wife. Weather is wonderful...overcast so missed the sunrise which usually helps pick up the spirits on the way back, but there is always tomorrow morning!

Morning everyone.  As I mentioned before due to injury I will be taking this week off.  I plan to get about the same amount of time I would have spent running in on the trainer this week.

My calf is feeling significantly better.  I was limping around on sat night but it feels great today.  I know better then to try and start running again this week though.  I've had this injury before and it will go on me again if I don't take a few weeks to ease back into things.

Take it easy.  We totally understand if you need to adjust your goals due to injury.  A challenge is not worth aggravating your injury.

Then there are people like me, who are totally capable of meeting their goals, but skip long workouts anyways...

Saturday was way too beautiful (65 and sunny).  I skipped my long run (11 miles of hillwork) to go biking with my wife...

It sounds like everyone had a great weekend of activity.  Nice work!

I on the other hand went to a cocktail tasting sat night!  It's a fund raiser for the local film festival and everyone dresses up and drinks awesome cocktails all night.  Each booth (and there were about 30 of them) has a different drink .  It was a blast.  I was the DD though so I only tasted in spirit.

Take it easy sparco...more important to take care of yourself.

Good husband for going on the ride with your wife versus the long run. It was beautiful on Sunday...ended up going to the Zoo with the family and one other person from the Wisconsin forum and his two kids.

I use bromine, it seems to be a bit gentler and no chlorine smell in the room.  If there are several pools around you could see if any are non-chlorine based.

4.5 mile KILLER hill workout (hill repeats, up to 15% grade)...HR got up to 170 bpm...it's been a while since I've suffered like this...

Better to suffer during the off-season than during the tri season, right?

There are hills in Minnesota? Next you'll tell me that Favre is the Vikings QB! Just kidding...my hill work is tomorrow. No 15% grades though. Great job!

Ran 1 + 13.1 yesterday .    Tried to run afterwards for a cool down but i was too stiff and walking felt  SO  much better .  8)  Tried to hang on to the 4hrs marathon pace group but they were too fast for me .  Running sub 9s  ..   Maybe if it had been colder or overcast .  I was only cold for my warmup  .  Once the sun came up  the temps felt like 60F .      Will do some small workout tonight to help recovery .

Yes, it's called Treadmill Lane.  The thing about doing hill repeats on a treadmill is: YOU CAN'T STOP AND WALK.  You have to keep running so you don't fall off and bring attention to yourself...

Next you'll tell me that Favre is the Vikings QB!
Yes, apparently Green Bay doesn't want him back.

Hiya Team!

So sorry for not checking in or updating mileage. Turns out the house we're staying in at Panama City Beach has no Internet. For the love of Pete...who has no Internet these days?

Anyway, I am all updated mileage-wise. I am a little behind because of the stoopid foot, but I totally anticipate meeting my goal still. I actually have quite a lot of running this week while we're on vacation. We'll be leaving PCB on Wednesday to spend the next half of the trip in Jupiter, Florida, with the 'rents. They have Internet.

IMFL was great. A beautiful day for the athletes. I was very nostalgic at the start, and had a blast peeling wetsuits (keep your mouth closed!). I managed to NOT sign up for next year (I am doing the Rev3 in Ohio instead). But I think I will be back as a volunteer next year.

It's hard to believe how nice it was just 2 days ago for the race as TS Ida starts to make her presence known here. Rain is coming down. The beach actually has "huge" waves (for the Gulf). Wind's not too bad. We're expecting a 2' to 3' storm surge. It's kinda' cool, but I am glad the athletes didn't have to deal with any of it.

So, our time at Starbucks is up. Signing off for now. I'll check back in a couple of days.

Keep on running!

ETA: Tropical Storm Toppage!

The fall and subsequent YouTube video would be epic though! If you go past 15, do you fall off the cliff? (Bad attempt at Price is Right humor...)

Hey gang,
I'm back to post a little. This weekend, I was able to get a long walk in unrelated to my training - but most of my time was spent at a leadership summit for work. Good thing I planned most of my training in the gym during the week!

I'm off to do a swim and lift. Keep up the great work everyone. I saw we're in first! Woohoo. Let's keep it up!
Cheers!

Just a bike ride today.  I have an off-road triathlon coming up in a couple of weeks.  With so much focus on running lately, I feel that I have neglected my cycling.  So, back in the saddle and headed for the hills.  Route consisted of paved street and trail, fireroad, and singletrack.  53 miles and 7,800 ft total ascent.  Little disappointed in my mph and still trying to fine tune my nutrition.

Back to running and swimming tomorrow!
