mbasta - 2010-11-03 9:30 PM I made home made macaroni and cheese + home made bread tonight for dinner. And I had coke again... 3 days in, all of which included coke.

I'm about 20 pounds lighter than my unhealthiest, but still about 20 to a rockin body. Just want to make myself accountable to get my #($* together. Thanks team!!

McD's fries and tapioca for lunch... pls don't kick me off the team. At least I'm aware that I have a problem and stopped lying to myself about where the weight came from.

Dietary changes require baby steps. I was making progress but have since regressed.

Once you quit the soda, you'll never go back.  I used to down Mountain Dew by the liter.  Now I can't even drink a single sip of the stuff.  Strangely enough, when I do drink soda it has to be Coke or Cherry Coke.  I can't drink a lot of it but it is delicious.  Maybe they fill it with addictive chemicals to make you crave it nightly.

They must!! It doesn't help that I don't like water with food either...

Suck it up and drink water for the rest of the month? Maybe that could be put into my challenge goals. It seems a bit rough, but might get me to recovery more quickly. Or, it might make me completely bonkers and impossible to deal with (poor husband).

Have you tried Iced Tea with meals?  You can get a naturally decaffienated tea (like a roobios tea) that will give you some flavor.  You can sweeten with a bit of honey to feed the sweet tooth.

I have a ton of teas, maybe I should try this...

I have a Coke tooth however, but tea might be better with meals than water.

Maybe you should give it a two week trial.  Don't they say it only takes two weeks to form a new habit.  Even if you just cut back to a 12 oz can of Coke with lunch and switch to tea or water or milk or whatever with your other meals.

Anymore, the only time I drink coke is if it has whiskey in it...

I am still undecided on my goals.  I will be in the woods for 4 or 5 days for deer season, so trying to figure that in....and a training at the tail end, Thanksgiving....

Oh what the hey....

1)  50 miles running - I'll up it from last month
2)  I like the "lose weight" thing - so I'll try 5 too.  I need to.  Good thing I weighed myself Monday morning.  211.8 *ugh*
3)  To go along with those two - I'll try 13000 on the calorie burn scale.

I'd say pizza but, I really don't want to fail....

Is the spreadsheet up?  I have sporadic access, and now a sick child at home - so this might get difficult.

I'm about to head out into the bitter winter cold for a run.

It's 5 degrees out so I can't get any points for the Crappy Winter Weather Challenge...

I'm not a big pop, soda drinker and never really have been...  my problem is coffee!!  I hate the "taste" of water too and I end up drinking way too much coffee.  So, I'm addicted, jittery and it keeps me from drinking water that I need.  I KNOW I am chronically dehydrated but can't seem to force myself to do anything about it.  I might have to try the iced tea idea!  I like unsweetened tea...  I Just have to remember to bring something to work.

It's environmentally friendly, and since you race in the environment, it will karmically reward you.

I think.

rh8463 - 2010-11-02 6:21 PM Morning Crushers!

Yay for a new month and a new challenge (well day 3 of it for me...).

Do we have a spreadsheet yet?

Yanti said that she's going to post it tomorrow. She's on your time so maybe tomorrow is today?

Oh cool, just as long as I haven't missed anything....

Hows the new job going?

It's off to a slow start, but good so far. I worked 1 day (in addition to my trial) at my location last week, and trained 2 days at another location because ours doesn't have a kinesiologist other than myself. I am off this week because this is the physiotherapist assistant's last week of internship (free labour, I understand). Next week I start regular 3 days a week shifts and wait for full time which should be coming soon.

Well that sounds good - glad its working out for you! I'm about to sign another contract which will have me safe (bit ridiculously busy) until end of March 2012. Then I think we will apply for permanent residency here so at least I only have jobs to worry about, not visas too!

It would be nice to know you job is secure for a while. Mine is pretty iffy with this office closing down. There are only a handful of us left. They keep telling us that they are moving us to the other office but they haven't said when and they are getting things ready at the new office so we can move in.

I hardly ever drink soda, especially Coke. I think I might have had one root beer this year and that was it for soda until Saturday when I had my first Coke in probably over ten years. I wasn't feeling well and had one, ok two, to settle my stomach. It did the trick. But then I always feel sluggish after.

Emmanem - 2010-11-04 8:14 AM Ugh waiting on my meeting to start and we are having free pizza.... Must not give in!!  This whole eating healthy thing is hard lol

Free food is the bane of my life. We have 2-3 coffee mornings a week here from sales reps. I delete notices immediately and never stop by because they have cakes and cheese and none of it is good.

Oh, cakes and cheeses are good.  Delicious in fact.  Good for you?  That's another story.

With cakes I let myself eat them if I made them myself, and then I go for a run....lol

If I had to make a cake to eat it then I wouldn't get cake very often. I make my wife's favorite cake for her birthday, Valentines, and maybe mothers' day. Other than that we don't make cake. With only two of us, we either end up pigging out so it won't go bad or we feel quilty as it goes to waste.
