The girls kept themselves occupied without fighting long enough for me to get a 45 minute trainer ride in.  Not a bad day for a snow day...

rnihill - 2011-03-05 2:12 PM Well, foot feels better but now I have a cold.  Ugh!!!!!  Did get a qucik bike in before my massage today.  Now I'm chillin' and waiting for the kids to come home from playing at their cousins.  What an AWESOME Saturday!
Glad your foot is doing better. Have you set up the date for the surgery on your wrist yet?
Yep...  March 18th is the date.   I don't think I've ever been soo excited about something but dreaded something so much at the same time.

You're supposed to schedule things like this for Monday. That way you can enjoy the weekend before the surgery and you maximize the number of days to recover before the next weekend. Plus, as an added bonus, you get to miss work.

You are so right Paul - you are on the ball when it comes to maximising time off work!

van_paulus - 2011-03-07 3:17 PM Completed the hilliest sprint i have ever done . Pool swim , 4 laps around UCLA which was the hard part , and 1 lap running . Ok i need a nap now .

CONGRATS!!! Toughie, very technical bike course, and a redliner the whole way for sure!

Ironbruin? That was my first triathlon in its inaugural year ... when it was *really* crazy (reverse tri, 2 sets of wooden stairs on the run, even more insane but shorter bike course, 0.9mi run UP to the swim after the bike). How I survived, I have no idea.

Three years later podiumed

Yes Ironbruin , Must have been a blast to do a wicked reverse course with all the trick features .. The current course has a wicked bike course with 2 sharp 90 degree sharp turns near the bottom of a hills one of them you fly down past the pool at 36-37 mph . ha ha i overcooked that turn on the second lap as no one was in front slowing down and braked really hard skidded down to 15mph or so to complete the turn without mishap . I had better respect of that turn on the last 2 laps. Saw a least One guy who was doing it on a fixed gear bike ...

Yep, the current course is the one I podiumed on ... I remember those turns well ... it's a good thing they didn't DQ me on that first one coming down the hill from the pool because I totally went outside the cones in order to avoid hitting people who had all bunched up and slowed down for it.

It's a great tri for war stories ... sounds like you did awesome, are you gonna put up a race report?

It was a lot of fun especially the downhills , I did Pasadena Tri last year to kick off the season but Ironbruin is way better : I will pencil in Ironbruin from now on. I went around the cones a couple of times too to pass safely. You did a really good time on that course .

Thank you! It was a course that exactly suited my strengths, so that helped.

Yeah, maybe I have a soft spot for IB because it was my first and then my best tri, but it's not like I haven't done a bunch of races many places, and we are very spoiled in SoCal alone because of choices ... I still think IronBruin really is fun (and I'm a Trojan, ha ha!). Glad you liked it!!!

Good morning Rachel

yaaaawn

methinks maybe it's time for me to go to bed!

Then again, if I stay up another hour, my friend/neighbour/triathlete Mark will be calling to see if I'm coming swimming

(translation: get your azz out of bed and come swim with me in the cold, cold waters of Jimbaran Bay because I'm too chicken/smart to go by myself).

We all know you don't sleep Yanti. Swim first, sleep later, thats my vote

(mostly because I am awake and at work and am jealous of everyone with the option to sleep right now!).

I know... Very poor planning!!  I just jumped on the first date I could get.  Not only did I screw up the weekend thing...  The day before is St Patty's Day, and I won't be doing much celebration.  I'm assuming hungover surgery is a bad idea.  Wink  There's lots of March madness basketball to watch too when I get out...  Again, I'm assuming alcohol and whatever drugs they give me = bad idea.

Oh well...   I'm focusing on having a happy wrist again!

That's the thing - I didn't even have to bribe them!!!  And believe me, I'm not above bribery on days like this.  I really do have the sweetest girls (most of the time).

Yeah, my walls in the basement are a nasty peach color too.  I am so happy we have the TV down there!  There wasn't anything good to watch but random crap is always better than staring at nasty peach walls.

Got in a walk and run this morning. Run was to make up for the one that I missed last night. Will bike this evening.

It is wet and dreary here but got it in. Felt good this morning to get most of my workouts in. Work is crazy so if I don't get them in in the morning, there is a 80% chance I won't do them.

Happy Tuesday Everyone!

Stacie

Yeah, well, didn't I shoot myself in the foot ... I decided to sleep, which was fine because I'd forgotten the mechanic was picking my car up to fix it in the morning. (Of COURSE the mech piglets come to you here ... )

And now I gotta go swim with a group at SIX A.M. for a coached workout.

It gets worse.

I'm the coach.

Ummm ... that's about the time I'm having my nightcap ...
