bswcpa - 2012-08-13 8:01 PM Ohhh, Judi, that sounds really painful. Ugh, I'm sorry. Are you running in new shoes or is this an ongoing problem you have? Have you tried blister bandades or are your blisters too big for them? You're still killing on the challenge. Good job training through the pain!
I am rotating through 4 different styles of Brooks shoes.  I have had the Dyads longest (last December) but stopped wearing them for a while so they really don't have a lot of miles on them.  The Launch, which I started wearing in March and would pretty much be the only shoe I wear if Brooks weren't going to discontinue them.   Pure Flow and Ghost 5 which I got last month.  I have another pair of the Launch that I ordered with the Pure/ Ghost but haven't taken out of the box yet since I have so many to rotate with.  I was fine until 3 weeks or so ago when I did a brick and wore regular bike socks instead of my usual smart wool run sock.  Since then, between the heat and super sweaty feet and volume on this half mary plan my feet look NASTY.  Moleskin helps a little, I have to cut the stuff into strips that go the length of my big toe for it to stick.  I think the locations (side of big toe starting near the nail bed) make the traditional bandaid for blisters ineffective cause the placement would be so odd.  I think they are worse when I wear the ghost, but I think that might be lessened with double socks and that shoe.  Double socks didn't help the launch much, just made me feel like the shoes were too tight.

Damn Judi, blisters suck. Have you tried the blister band-aids? I've used them and they seem to help.

Sounds like I am pretty far behind with everyone doing some long times! Sorry to hear about blisters and the sore knee. I am having some knee issues too although nothing to worry about.

Queenzipp, Brooks is really discontinuing the Launch Thats my favorite shoe. Might be time to stock up

I gotta hand it to you BIGDH, I have tried running with the stroller and I was exhausted after 10 minutes so 50+ is definitely an achievment!

Keep it up everyone!

Yes, Brooks is really discontinuing the Launch. Sad.....think the Green Silence as well. They're pushing the Pure line in place. I like the pure flows

Got a new fitness group started at my house  James (my fiance) and his brother and girlfriend and I all decided it was time to get back in shape so we've started running together.  We take Shadow along for a half mile then run without him.  It's been great motivation for all of us.  We've decided to run 6 days a week and work up the time/distance really slowly.

I'm going to start reading back through everyone else's posts now.... looks like there's been some running shoe talk.  I'm going to need new shoes soon and I can't find the ones I have now anywhere so I'm open to suggestions.  I've decided if I keep up with my running for a week then I will reward myself with new shoes.

I tried to get my 5 miles in this evening and bumbled through 2. I twisted my ankle on Monday evening and it is not really happy. I need to ice some more and try again tomorrow. Fortunately it is just a minor twist, nothing popped or anything and no real swelling.

Robin, you aren't supposed to twist your ankle  Heal fast!

I started using A&D ointment on my feet yesterday and they feel a lot better.  Still have areas to watch out for but I made it through nearly an hour this evening.  Only ended it cause of the heat and humidity.  YOGA......oh yes.

One run in the last 6 days (albeit my longest run in the last nearly 4 years)  but did have a good time with the fam.

Hope everyone takes care of those injuries and "annoyances" and finishes the month out health-i-ly !!!

The random blogger inspires are getting fun!  I rarely use the random inspires....but it is cool to interact with new names (to me) and get replies back from them too!  That's a great secondary challenge this month.

Thanks for the reminder to do this, Judi! I'm up to about 10 but then forgot about it. When I went to inspire you I noticed you have a ton everyday so I think you got to the finish line first on this. Impressive! I've also enjoyed welcoming the folks on "Introduce Yourself" as I'd not used that forum before. Agree it's a great secondary challenge that Ann set up.

BTW, I'd not updated the log in a couple days, so I took the lead back However.... I'm heading into a taper week with my HIM on the 26th so I have a feeling you'll reclaim it very soon. Us girls are rockin it!

Good job to everyone! Keep the runnin and strength/yoga/core/lawn work (this makes me chuckle) up and have a great weekend!

Good morning everyone!

How are the workouts going?

I sincerely apologize for being such a slacker when it comes to keeping up with my training log, and the spreadsheet. I WILL get it done this weekend. My life runs at a million miles a minute, and things rarely go as I have planned. I will be sitting up tomorrow night waiting for my son to get home from a fishing trip, so if I don't get caught up before, I'll do it then.

3 exceedingly slow miles this am. I started late, had some stomach issues because of that, and the ankly did not like hills, (either up or down). The good thing about running slow, you get more minutes for this challenge! Bwa hahahaha
