135 windsor, Ontario | Subject: RE: Hashers and Mashers Part 2 - OPEN Honestly, ever since I've started training and eating more veggies and fibre laden cereals I'm finding I'm running to the bathroom 4-5 times a day as opposed to 1-2 times before. It just sucks that it happens 10 minutes into a friggen run. Thank God I run on an indoor track so I can be in and out. |

So I'm hoping I can avoid being sick. But I didn't get to work out tonight (I was literally in the gym parking lot getting the kids out of the car when I discovered the poop-splosion my son had detonated and only had one change of clothes for him so I had to cancel). So now tomorrow going to try to swim and recovery run in the morning, then either long run in the afternoon or bike ride. And then more on Sunday. At least I have Monday off. If I don't get sick I'm going to be working out 2-3 times per day through Monday. |

Extreme Veteran 1704 Penticton, BC | Subject: RE: Hashers and Mashers Part 2 - CLOSED I had a good swim this morning. I could tell I was slowing down near the end of the session (probably because of the cycling last night) but aside from that I felt pretty good and I was even keeping up with a fellow I usually can't keep up with - I actually had to slow down a couple times so I didn't catch up to him. So fairly pleased. Tomorrow I have another cycling session but it will be more of a zone 2-3 effort and not so much zone 4-5. Then I am planning to run for an hour and after that I'm hoping to stay awake. Sunday is a rest day for me. Probably be watching some curling tomorrow and Sunday (there's a big event in Las Vegas this weekend). I seem to be really struggling with staying consistent on the running. I think our super mild Monday run spoiled the treadmill for me. I find it really hard to get back on it. Now I need to get more comfortable running outside in the cooler (normal temps) we have now. Our earliest races aren't until May here. Prior to that I might be able to find a run and there is an indoor "sprint" Feb 9th but it is kind of a weird sprint. You swim for 15 minutes and how ever many lengths you finish is your distance; the bike is a 30 minute TT and then the run is a 20 minute run. Your "score" is based on how you compare to everyone else. I'm not feeling too enthusiastic about it so not sure it is worth entering. Joe - Kids are the greatest, eh! And, at the best possible time. Hope your wife gets better quickly and you don't get sick yourself. Carlo - Take good care of yourself. Edited by wenceslasz 2014-01-17 10:26 PM |

I love that kind of thing, just really feeds my obsession lol There won't be a club ride tomorrow so I'm planning to go out on my own just for 20k and then my husband and I got a babysitter for us to try the MTB trail in our local forest park, I'm hoping he'll just love it so much he'll buy into it (he believes fly fishing is a sport... Lol) What's everyone else planning? |

Besides wool socks, I typically wear cheap cotton gardening gloves and an ear wrap or hat along with tights and a couple layers of Under Armour and a wind breaker. |

Veteran 493 Chicago, Illinois | Subject: RE: Hashers and Mashers Part 2 - CLOSED Originally posted by ransick We used to live in Schaumburg, but when we move back we're not sure. We may have to live closer to downtown, so probably in the Lagrange or Oak Park area, or we may live near Schaumburg again, or near Naperville. Or we may not move to Chicago at all. Things are kind of up in the air right now.Originally posted by Fresno_Joe Where a outs in Chicago? 82 | Subject: RE: Hashers and Mashers Part 2 - OPEN Well Got out for a run 3.75 km gotta build that volume up slowly! Then did 45 mins of strength training! I was looking at the training plans for sprint triathlons and it seems to me that the first weeks seem to low in volume, should I keep training by feel until a bit closer and hope into the plan that is closer to my current volume? |

That's what I would do, yeah. You shouldn't overdo it such that you injure yourself, of course, but on the other hand you needn't hold yourself to an unnecessarily low level just because a beginner plan has lower volume than appropriate for you. You can always modify the plan you have an eye on if you are more advanced than the plan calls for.But it's worth stressing again, now is the time to build volume, not the time to be overdoing it and getting yourself injured. i.e. when you are building volume you usually avoid sprint work and the like. |

Yeah that was what I was thinking. I am about 20 weeks out from race day and was looking at following a 16 week plan, so for now I am just going to keep building volume by feel! And keep really watch my nutrition. I have down 4 lbs in two weeks! I committed to logging my food and training for 20 weeks! Trying to loose 39 more pounds to get down to 200 lbs Edited by ktoolz 2014-01-18 9:19 PM |

Member 1293 Pearland,Tx | Subject: RE: Hashers and Mashers Part 2 - OPEN catching up with the rest @ Greg Learn to love biking , it can be your bestfriend before the run. All of us love our ride. @Tay indoor trainers are cool , but to be honest i have been lazy so far indoor , not unless its snowing i still would ride outside. What training plan you use for Full Mary training? @ Kyle I envy you weight loss gained alot of weight after my HIM training. Your looking good if your looking into a sprint IMHO you dont need 20 weeks yo train for it if you can swim mediocre 3 months should be enough, therefore your looking great. I still watch old cycling movies at Netflix, "American Flyer" "Breakaway" |
