Expert 1099 Orlando, FL | Subject: RE: Black Magic Team Thread Hey gang! jszat - feel better! Just as a side note, you may be having 'ultra flu', when I used to do them regularly, I'd feel like I had the flu on about Tuesday or so, last a couple of days but them good to go by the next weekend. Sometimes running long makes your systems all wonky. In any case, take care of you! texas - you continue to kick us into high gear...rock on girl! Donto - got the increase, yes, we deserve a special award for upping goals mid month!!! Lara - you are the best cheerleader, thank you so much for the inspires. Lobstergirl and Offthecouchandtri - come back to us!!!!!!! We need you to be strong and finish well!!! Everyone else, keep on with the keeping on....we will get there. But just to light a little fire under you WE DROPPED TO 6th PLACE!!!!!!!!!!!!! LET'S meet those goals!!!!! Today, I am running at least 4. No field trips, no kid at home, just me and the road....maybe it's time to try for a bit longer??? |

Regular 70 | Subject: RE: Black Magic Team Thread Hey Team I am still out there. I got back on the road last night. My daughter has had some thing viral this past weekend, I feel like I am coming down with it, my throat is already sore. I hope I can fend it off and keep running, downing lots of gatoraide and protein. It looks like I have only 9 miles left to get to my original goal of 30. I'll be traveling next week, so I am going to stay conservative and not increase my goal; just depends on if I wake up dog sick in the next two days. Go TEAM! and War Eagle! Elite 2998 Fishers, Indiana | Subject: RE: Black Magic Team Thread 6th place, eh, it's just a number...our percentage was over 50% which means we were EXACTLY where we needed to be for half-way through the month...we're staying nice and steady, and this endurance stufff, so not too fast out of the gate is good. I'm confident our consistency will keep us in tight contention. We will NOT lose, that I know!! 10.75 mi on schedule for me tomorrow morning. After taking a rest day, I'm ready to head back out! Keep it up team!!! Stay healthy, stay consistent! |

Dont worry folks, I figured this would be an off week and is why I didnt ante up 150 for the month. Keep on trucking everybody! Did I see we are only in 6th? |

We just need to stay consistent and NOT GET INJURED, and we're golden. (Slight emphasis added for those who are tempted to go all-out crazy with the mileage!) |

Elite 2998 Fishers, Indiana | Subject: RE: Black Magic Team Thread Okay Team, 10.75 for me today. It's cooled off here A LOT, which is nice. Plan to do some bike tomorrow to keep the legs loose and HOPEFULLY we finally take an APFT on Sunday this time. So that'll be another 2 miles for this week and put me with about 40 miles left to the goal, and I'll knock out a good chunk of that this upcoming week. Left ankle a little sore, but icy hot and Excedrin are helping it out! Now if I can only get some good sleep... Happy Friday to all...only one more Friday for me deployed! The end of this challenge signifies the end of a VERY long year for me, so the challenge is helping me stay focused on my training in the midst of getting ready here! Thanks Team! GO BLACK MAGIC GO! |

Master 1688 ALSAGER, CHESHIRE. UK | Subject: RE: Black Magic Team Thread Whilst out today I was wondering what I could put here. I think a big Opps! might do. Have had a bad knee since pounding out a 1/2 Marathon in training the other week. My original plan was to do say three 5 milers on a Tues, Weds & Thurs, leave Mon & Fri as rest days & ride as usual on Sat & Sun. Since the bad knee I have been doing some short runs of 1.5 - 2.5 miles which I think have made things worse. In an effort to have a couple of rest days next week & finish strong I decided to go for it this morning. After one mile I had to grit my teeth but I found that if I went a little faster the pain went a little. My mind turned to "if I can just get to single figures for next week, I can have a good rest & finish off with a couple of five milers. If the knee will stand up for say seven miles I'll be there". Opps! Big laugh. Yes, I got the seven miles in. Yes, the knee is sore, trashed, whatever. BUT I had miscalculated. I thought I had 17 Miles left in the challenge. I only had 13. Which means I've only got 6.3 to go next week. I can crawl that far if need be & will probably have to. You're going great guys. Tex, you think I need a rest. I DO when I read how far you're doing. (You'll be in single figures soon, but for another reason ) GO BLACK MAGIC GO! |

Master 1688 ALSAGER, CHESHIRE. UK | Subject: RE: Black Magic Team Thread Hi All, Just done 32 Miles on bike, no knee problems (thank goodness). My riding partner wants a last blast on the bike tomorrow, before the weather gets too bad. Freezing this morning & numb toes at present time. Very hilly ride planned, hate to think what the altitude plot will look like. May be over 60 Miles. No running scheduled for a few days. Know this may not be of interest to you over the pond but England are playing in the Rugby World Cup Final this evening against South Africa. SA are extremely talented & will start the game as favourites. England will have to rely on guts & determination to stand a chance. It's the final Grand Prix of the year in Brazil on Sunday & the new rookie sensation, Lewis Hamilton (yes, he's English) will be trying to win the World Title. He has a slender lead & only needs to finish about 3rd to win it. Of course, there's the NFL & the Giants are hosting the 49'ers on Sunday. It's Minnesota for you then Ken, might just give you that one (as long as Romo doesn't throw a bucketful of interceptions). Sorry Tex, don't get college games here so you will have to fill me in on Army & (this is a guess as I can't remember) Tulane? So there's 11 days left on the challenge. Keep up the good work everyone. Go Black Magic, Go! |

Nice quiet day for me as we're fading out of the picture and letting the new guys take the reigns! Yep, 11 days left in OCT. I'm VERY excited about that!! |

I'm enjoying teasing him at the moment. Couple of very difficult weeks for them then! After that they'll be aiming for the No 1 pick Great to hear only 8 left. Excellent news. |

Master 2099 Madison, WI | Subject: RE: Black Magic Team Thread 7 miles in the bag for me this morning. Only 10.5 left for my challenge goal. Woo hoo! Official total at the end of this week, 39.5 miles. Wow - I've now surpassed my highest run total month (which happened to be last month). Legs are a bit sore after this run. But, I did the ice bath thing and don't need to run again until Tuesday. So, hopefully I'll recover just fine. |
