If I may suggest something. I find the timewise thing good for planning but poor for performance. It is easy to put in the time, hard to put in good time. So I would say, go for the same time goal for each sport but increase the distance for each sport by a modest 10 percent. So you have to reach both goals. Now you may not reach your distance goal in 20 hours, and that is fine, just means you have to put in a bit more time. And, if you reach your distance goals before your time goals then you score your self some easy end of month workouts.Well barring a catastrophe, I should make my training goals for the month. This was my goal: Okay so last month I was at approximately 16.5 hours of training for r/b/s. Even though I have $hit the bed with no training for the first 4 of the first 5 days of the month, my goal is to increase training to 20 hours...Let the games begin! and this is where i am at:
I hope to get a short bike/run tomorrow and then crazy thursday with a run in the am then swim/bike in the evening...I am going to break my beer early as we are going for a beer after my last spin class... Gotta start thinking up the challenge for December now... Very true! Definitely going to try increase my distances vs time on bike and run...swim...not too worried about that until next year! May try and download a sufferfest video just for a change of pace. Anybody tried them? Sign me up for the Winter and Spring weightloss challenge. 190.1 is my threshold weight as of this morning. I plan on losing this month, but would hate to gain. When does challenge end? I go back to school Jan. 2nd, does that sound about right? |

Plus - you did it without beer as a motivator which is the truly amazing part. Enjoy that beer! With the snow on it's way - are you gonna up your time in the pool in December? |

But I want to get some kind of run in - so would it be better to aqua jog instead of running on a the cross country trails where I usually run. I know aqua jogging = no impact - but my IT Band will still rub against the bursa - right? |

But I want to get some kind of run in - so would it be better to aqua jog instead of running on a the cross country trails where I usually run. I know aqua jogging = no impact - but my IT Band will still rub against the bursa - right? Right. Stop running. Rest. No running=No long run. Heal injury until better, then slowly incorporate running back in to workouts if and only if you don't have symptoms. 3 weeks of no running is much better than 5 months of battling a nagging injury then really getting injured and being out of the game. instead, bike, swim and drink chocolatey minty beer with feet up on the couch while you heal your legs. Just my thoughts. |

Expert 4269 | Subject: RE: bigDH's accountability training a.k.a Beer Drinker's Appreciation Society Morning - Had an ephany on the way into work this morning... To get myself psyched for the long day ahead (work then overnight with the cubscouts) I was playing my running music that I usually reserve for races and hard workouts. One of my favs is the theme from Gladiator - of all the songs on my ipod, it gets me the most fired up. Anyway, I'm driving to school blasting the music and I can feel the competitor in me ready to burst out. I was dying to pull over, don my running shoes, and kick some ... I so wanted some kind of competition. So, 2 things occured to me - 1) I've become a competitor and being the competitor means that I fight the fight, finish the race and keep the faith. 2) life and its wins and challenges are like a race. I need to look at these challenges (with food and burscitis) as fatigue or cramps that I need to fight through in order to get to the finish line (or in this case the start line of next feb HM). I also need to be thankful for what I do have. Yesterday at the gym, a woman with what appeared to be a new prothetic leg limped into Y in front of me. I am so bless - I just need to realize and remember how blessed I am... No comment needed/wanted - I just needed to share |

Picked up the standard dozen Phillips IPA multipack and a 6pk of Nelson Brewing IPA paddywack(probably closer to you Kevin then me!) Nelson IPA was disappointing, as it seemed to lack depth...my wife liked it though. Had one of my better runs this morning. Not sure if it is because I picked up the pace or it was the bowl of chips I had last night... Cheers everyone! |
