Subject: RE: Experior and Slornow's Spring/Summer Mentor Group-CLOSEDHey all, I have to say, I am really blown away by all of the 'love' in this group (especially since I was a late-arrival). As some of you saw from the finish video, I was a bit excited and emotional at the finish line. As one guy told me that finished behind me, I could of definitely gone a lot faster if I had that much energy at the end. Honestly, all in all I had a great race. I paced myself conservatively in the swim, as well as the early portion of the bike. It paid dividends at the end. My two slowest bike splits were exaggerated (in terms of the actual time) due to stopping for special needs, and actually stopping to use the facilities, as well as dropping my chain on the way back over the bridge that we cross. I stayed calm, and managed to get the chain back on even though it was jammed in the front rings. I was nervous I was going to break the chain. I learned a lot about myself mentally and physically the last few weeks, and honestly, I feel so much more confident heading into next tri-season. I found my racing style, and know (at least a little bit more-so) that I can push myself much further. The last mile of the marathon was the most amazing experience, I have never smiled so huge in my life. It was that much more enjoyable since I had my family and girlfriend there (who also surprised me on the bike course to see me a few times...definitely a huge mental boost). It got quite emotional after the finish... I could go on forever, but honestly, words can't express how I feel. I strongly suggest everyone to sacrifice one year of training and conquer the 140.6 distance, you will not regret it. As to next year (2013), I really want to do a 50 mile ultra, and focus alot on speed/strength at the 70.3 distance. Ideally (more like, in a perfect world), I would love to qualify for Vegas before I age up, however I really would rather do it in Augusta in 2013. Thanks again for the support from all of you, I was blown away by the outpouring of support! |
