Volunteer - there are still needs. A number of us are volunteering at the Run Aid Station #4 which is "hosted" by Team RWB. I know a number of the aid stations still need more help. I will tell you from the athlete's perspective, it is a very nice feeling to see smiling faces along the way, especially when they are on that last of the triumvirate... the run. An excited 12-year-old will lift many spirits along the way. WORD! Check it out! http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=245852&posts=3&start=1 |

Champion 5495 Whizzzzzlandia | Subject: RE: Ironman Texas Hey guys... I'm super excited to see you all out there and want to figure out some of the logistics so Chris and I can hook up with as many of you as possible. (Please don't make that pervy) We arrive on Thursday night... lateish. I'm thinking an OWS at the race venue on Friday AM? Earlyish? Like 7 or so? Then hang out for a bit, maybe hit the expo? Where are you guys planning to do dinner on Friday night? The athlete dinner/meeting is probably on Thursday night, isn't it? Who has dinner plans for Friday night?? Lemme know... Chris and I will be at the swim start... and then we'll be on the bike course for a little bit too. We're volunteering at the finish line from 9-12. See you there! The work is done. Go out there and have a great day. |

It was made famous in the Austin area then grew around central Texas and now one store in Houston. If you are coming from Houston on 45 it is a few miles before the woodlands. Awesome! Will definitely check out Rudy's. Thanks! |

Extreme Veteran 492 Frisco | Subject: RE: Ironman Texas dodgersmom - 2011-05-16 8:12 AM My friend Scott posted this on Facebook. It was written by Jonathan Liljeblad. They tell us Ironman is a superhero. They tell us Ironman has super powers, with super strength and super speed and special armor and the ability to fly. They tell us Ironman is super special, being a figment of the imagination, a fanciful creation, a character in comic books and video games and animated television and blockbuster movie theaters. Someone we can read, and play, and watch, just for the price of a purchase. Someone that we can dream about, but never actually become. But, you see, here's the deal: they're wrong. Ironman is not a superhero. Ironman is real. Ironman is she and he. Ironman is mom and dad. Ironman is grandma and grandpa. Ironman is young and old and small and big and healthy and sick. Ironman is rich and poor and office and street and city and country and mountain and beach. Ironman is rolling in a wheelchair or walking around on crutches. Ironman is overweight with high blood pressure and cholesterol and type 2 diabetes. Ironman is debilitating illness and degenerative condition. Ironman is sad, depressed, overstressed, overworked, unhappy, unfulfilled, lost, and confused. Ironman is anybody who's ever dreamed of becoming more, who's ever wanted to become better than what they are now, who's ever desired to find out the kind of person they were meant to be. Ironman is anybody who's then decided to act, and picked themselves up, and opened the door, and gone outside, and taken the first step of many steps...towards the number of 140.6 as marked in miles, on a journey that will ultimately last a lifetime. Ironman is anybody. Ironman is you.
Very Cool ... |

New user 58 | Subject: RE: Ironman Texas I just heard-Saturday is the Rapture. (As if we didn't have enough to worry about already!) Since it appears scheduled to occur at 6PM local time, only a few will have finished the race. For those who are swept away to heaven, will they be penalized for using illegal form of locomotion? Will World Championship slots be reallocated based on the people who survive the ensuing carnage and actually cross the finish line? Will the WTC issue refunds in the event the race is interrupted? More questions than answers at this point, but I'll keep digging. I have a lot of spare time this week... Edited by deweylittle 2011-05-16 6:20 PM |

New user 100 Spring, Texas | Subject: RE: Ironman Texas A guy at the office keeps freaking out about the first installment of about 5 budget iterations. He's new, so that doesn't make things any better. I keep telling him not to worry about it so much. Of course that's easy for me to say since I won't be here on Friday for the presentation! I feel like the guy on Office Space right now...frankly, I'd rather watch Kung Fu. To make matters worse, our entire network went down yesterday afternoon. Anyone up for cleaning their office? Physically I feel great, but mentally, I'm checked out. I think I sprained my "give a $#!+" ligament. |
