Y-4.

Yes it's four more sleeps until Sunday when I get to meet up with her Yantiness!  I am beyond excited!!!

BARK BARK BARK BARK BARK

Unfortunately I wasn't able to get a Melbourne slot despite all the wheeling dealing shady offers and Melon Press bribes I could muster, but I am SOOOOOO EXCITED about slurping and shoulder kisses and arm nibbling

Plenty of time to wheel and deal for Cairns baby!

I need today to think about it but I may seriously require your own wheel deal body and soul selling services to try for Cairns. My other options are Port Macquarie (blech), Japan (maybe, but SO expensive, VERY mountainous, possibly a 15-hour cutoff), or waiting 'til December for IMWA again.

OK, I warned you there would be more questions. This one is easy. What is your favorite genre of music? And why (this is the part that matters to the psychoanalysts in the group)? None of this "I like all music" stuff either. Narrow it down.

For those that check my logs, there is some different stuff in there every now and again when I post a song, but for the most part, I am a Country Music fan.  While I may have a white collar job, I relate to the blue collar work ethic.  I find this is most reflected in my music choices. I  have been known to fish, drink, play guitar, and enjoy the occasional Friday night good time.  I also nearly lost my wife, dog, house, truck and I have missed a train in the rain, so I am the living embodiment of country music. Or not Wink

There is absolutely NO WAY I could ever answer that question. Easy my azz!

Maybe he forgot to put "easy" in red sarc font?

Love the reference to my post a while back about losing my wife, house, truck, and missing my train in Canada... (or was that not a reference?)

Also, thank you for sharing that HOT, HOT, HOT video..... Damn there are a lot of chicks in that video..

Now to answer your question...

My mood strongly influences what I listen to on a daily basis, and I go through different stages (Country, Rock, Rap, etc.) on a quarterly basis.  Overall, in order, my favorite genre's are (reasons in parenthesis

  1. Blues (The Blues / Jazz are the root of every type of music.. and THEY MOVE ME)
  2. Motown Oldies / Soul / R&B (Motown moves me...more than "white boy" oldies.  I was just discussing with my brother the other day why Motown oldies are so much better than today's music.  To me, it seems a big part is because you can 'feel' the music.  I believe these people (black people of the 50's, 60's, & 70's) were singing & performing because they LOVED MUSIC, whereas today's artists are, at least partially, motivated by money)
    • Aretha Franklin - Otis Redding - Marvin Gaye - The Temptations - The 4 Tops - Jackson 5 (purely for the talent of Michael when he was 10 - 13 years old) - Ray Charles - ETTA JAMES - Bill E King - The Supremes - Dusty Springfield - Smoky Robinson....you get the idea...
  3. Rock / Heavy Metal (Moves me in a different way, great for workouts / running and I really got into it my senior year of high school)
    • Motley Crew - Metalicca - Rage Against the Machine - Aerosmith - AC/DC - G&R - Offspring - Nickleback - The Offspring
  4. Old School Rap (because I grew up on it)
    • Snoop Dogg - DJ Quick - Ludicrous - Digital Underground
  5. Country (I added Country to the play list about 6 years ago)

Have fun with that psychoanalysts!

As a footnote - it's a very, very, very close call between #'s 3,4, and 5.. I really do listen to all these, all the time.. I enjoy almost all music.  I'm just as comfortable at a country concert as I am at a rap concert..

Funny that you ask this question today Chris, cause yesterday someone told me that I listen to too much angry white women music and that maybe it was affecting my attitude. I wanted to tell him "That I didn't care what he thought and to get out of my office" but I though that might prove his point

I like the music of women with powerful voices think Adele, P!nk, Alanis Morisette (Salty you might need to goggle the last one cause you're too young to know who she is). But I also like U2, Frank Sinatra, Willie Nelson, Johny Cash and the odd bit of Opera and Classical.

I like Nickleback (and I'm not afraid to admit it), Switchback, Jars of Clay, U2, Barenaked Ladies, REM. I even like some Toby Mack now and then. I love Adele, Natalie Merchant, Sheryl Crow, etc.

I loved the Johnny Cash song you posted in your blog. I listened to it a couple times this morning while I was home sick. (I suspect strep).

Oops. I guess I didn't narrow that down very much, but maybe you get the idea. I love alternative-type music with a positive message. (I bounce between the CoffeeHouse and the Message on my satellite radio.) Songs which use swear words to the extreme or describe various sexual positions get the "thumbs down" from me on Pandora. My husband says I'm a puritan. eh. Maybe.

Saw them live this Christmas. Their version of Little Drummer Boy is one of the better new versions of Christmas classics in a long time.

How is that baffling? I just happen to like a whole lot of different type of music and could never in a million years nail it down to even a couple genres.

It isn't simply the music that baffles me, it is the whole you (as I understand you). Awesome athlete, great love for your family, intellectual outlook on many things. You are the emotional, the physical, and the mental all in one.

Yes I thought of Japan but it's pricey.  Cairns I'm going up we can stay together - etc.  No arm nibbling or shoulder kissing until after the race !!

I have turn tables and have loved music as long as I can remember. Nothing like playing vinyl. But I can't sing or play an instrument for sh*t.

I asked this question with a few things in mind. I wanted to see how everyone answered. Jo danced around it pretty well, then came to a conclusion. Goody went with the straight forward approach.  I figured you for dancing around an answer type, eventually getting to the answer/

You continue to baffle me. And I say that with utmost love and respect. How long until SXSW???

How is that baffling? I just happen to like a whole lot of different type of music and could never in a million years nail it down to even a couple genres.

SX is next week.

It isn't simply the music that baffles me, it is the whole you (as I understand you). Awesome athlete, great love for your family, intellectual outlook on many things. You are the emotional, the physical, and the mental all in one.

Not many people have that.

Salty the enigma.

Funny that you ask this question today Chris, cause yesterday someone told me that I listen to too much angry white women music and that maybe it was affecting my attitude. I wanted to tell him "That I didn't care what he thought and to get out of my office" but I though that might prove his point I like the music of women with powerful voices think Adele, P!nk, Alanis Morisette (Salty you might need to goggle the last one cause you're too young to know who she is). But I also like U2, Frank Sinatra, Willie Nelson, Johny Cash and the odd bit of Opera and Classical.

When we were playing in the bar band it was my wife's job to sing the female songs. We stuck to "Angry Chick Songs", Pat Benatar, Joan Jett, etc.  My DW rocks "Hit Me With Your Best Shot" and hits the high notes real well. Ah, the good ole days.

Oh wow, well, thank you. I appreciate that.

As far as the music goes, it's so funny because if you just look at my "song of the day" in my blog today and yesterday it's like night and day.

I have turn tables and have loved music as long as I can remember. Nothing like playing vinyl. But I can't sing or play an instrument for sh*t.

Anyone who has spotify on here should let me know and we can be spotify friends Smile If you can handle my 'eclectic' taste.

Your SOD has stretched me. Thanks for that.

I keep hearing about spotify...is it better than Pandora?

I use the MaccaX12 playlist we had set up = it goes from Iron Maiden to Neil Diamond, Michael Jackson to Metallica- it's so diverse!

I like spotify, not used Pandora.
