Master 3870 | Subject: RE: Mad Manatee Mentors, Part 2! CLOSED I looked at it like this. If all other genres were going to be eliminated, which would I least want to lose? I love all kinds of artists/musicians, from Metallica (hardcore classic of my youth) to Josh Groban (such a pure voice) to Miss Saigon (stage musical) to Aaron Copeland (Fanfare to the Common Man!). Yes, Chris, I was straight to the point. Mainly because I'm not much of a dancer |

Seattle | Subject: RE: Mad Manatee Mentors, Part 2! CLOSED cdban66 - 2013-03-05 5:49 PM For some modern angry chicks check out Gossip. Formerly known as The Gossip. Also check out Sleater-Kinney. What is interesting about them is it's a 3 part girl group and one of the girls is Carrie Brownstein (from Portlandia, the TV show)StaceyK - 2013-03-05 6:35 PM cdban66 - 2013-03-06 6:38 AM Funny that you ask this question today Chris, cause yesterday someone told me that I listen to too much angry white women music and that maybe it was affecting my attitude. I wanted to tell him "That I didn't care what he thought and to get out of my office" but I though that might prove his point I like the music of women with powerful voices think Adele, P!nk, Alanis Morisette (Salty you might need to goggle the last one cause you're too young to know who she is). But I also like U2, Frank Sinatra, Willie Nelson, Johny Cash and the odd bit of Opera and Classical.OK, I warned you there would be more questions. This one is easy. What is your favorite genre of music? And why (this is the part that matters to the psychoanalysts in the group)? None of this "I like all music" stuff either. Narrow it down. For those that check my logs, there is some different stuff in there every now and again when I post a song, but for the most part, I am a Country Music fan. While I may have a white collar job, I relate to the blue collar work ethic. I find this is most reflected in my music choices. I have been known to fish, drink, play guitar, and enjoy the occasional Friday night good time. I also nearly lost my wife, dog, house, truck and I have missed a train in the rain, so I am the living embodiment of country music. Or not When we were playing in the bar band it was my wife's job to sing the female songs. We stuck to "Angry Chick Songs", Pat Benatar, Joan Jett, etc. My DW rocks "Hit Me With Your Best Shot" and hits the high notes real well. Ah, the good ole days. I love angry chick music. |

Also, thank you for sharing that HOT, HOT, HOT video..... Damn there are a lot of chicks in that video.. Now to answer your question... My mood strongly influences what I listen to on a daily basis, and I go through different stages (Country, Rock, Rap, etc.) on a quarterly basis. Overall, in order, my favorite genre's are (reasons in parenthesis)
Have fun with that psychoanalysts! As a footnote - it's a very, very, very close call between #'s 3,4, and 5.. I really do listen to all these, all the time.. I enjoy almost all music. I'm just as comfortable at a country concert as I am at a rap concert.. Ummmm Chris??? Did my list get skipped in all the side talk? I spent a lot of time on it, making sure to not gloss over or avoid answering the question directly.... <sarc> Now I'm feeling sad no one noticed </sarc> |

Just can't handle it, it grates me. My most recent purchases on I tunes are Vide cor meum by Dante Alighieri and Patrick Cassidy (it's off the soundtrack to Hannibal) and an album called Go by a guy called Jonsi. He's a singer from Iceland who is better known for being lead singer in the group Sigur Ros. Mesmerising singer, can not recommend him enough, it's what I listen to when out running. So, as you can see my music choice is quite wide, like most people. I guess even if you say that you have a fave' genre, it's not really true because of the amount of variety within all genres means that we are gonna like/dislike music within that genre. I guess that is why people struggle to pin down one type that is their favourite, well I do anyway .
