I feel miserable this morning.  I'm nauseous as can be, my neck and shoulder hurt and I'm just exhausted.  Not a good way to start the day off.

I was supposed to meet my mother on Friday to get my middle 2 kids.  Yesterday she called and said Madge has been crying a lot for me.  We had to move the switch to this morning, so I get to drive 3 hours today.  Hooray!  LOL  Funny that she's been crying for me when it seems like she hates me lately.  I mean, she tells me she hates me at least 3 times a day (yes, my 4 year old is a DIVA).

Hip and glute feel a little strained today.  I'm going to have to run easy the next couple week.  An injury would really suck right now.  I might hit the pool for a long swim after I get the kids in bed tonight, but we'll see.  I'm really unmotivated to workout after 8 p.m.  Anyone else feel that way?

I find it nearly impossible to train at night. My days start between 430/5 and by the time I get home around 630/7 I am cooked. I will sometimes workout at night but try to avoid it. Don't be afraid of a day off if you need one.

Amen bro.  4:20 alarm and I'm done once the kids go down.  I'm lucky if I get a show or two in with the wife.

I fall asleep on the couch most night at 9.  So lame.  My husband says I'll be going to bed at 8 with the kids next summer, when I'm training for HIM distance.  LOL

I generally fall asleep with a kid after booksYoga - my wife does tons of yoga, that and hiking a her primary forms of exercise. I do it sometimes. For bikrum (hot) yoga make sure you go to a real bikrum studio, otherwise it's just ashtanga or vinyasa in a hot room and you won't get the benefits of the bikrum method. I personally think yoga is likely the best method of exercise you ccan do, particularly a good power yoga class. You work the enti body using body weight and stretching. 90 minutes of power yoga and and you will hurt. It's also a great core workout. Off season I try and do yoga or pilates also good, 2x week. I do not like spooky-witchy yoga where you chant , hold hands and breathe, and speak in sanskrit which is big in bikrum, hence a reason I don't do it. It's all about the instructor. This off season I think I'm going to do a lot of bike training and cross fit

I'll pass on the chanting stuff, too. I want to sweat...not to meditate.  Good to know - I'll make sure I go to a real  bikrum studio.

I think anything hot will work (as long as its a good class with a good teach), bikrum is essentially a franchise.  This is what I go to: http://www.westhartfordyoga.com/classes.htm

14 and change in 2 hours today.  Feel much better afterwards.  Thanks Kelly for the Fuel Belt recommendation.  It's going to be hard to focus on work today as the rest of my family is already off towards the beach and certain people may be intoxicated by the time I get there.

uhcoog - 2011-07-14 1:38 PM So with the Fuel Belt......  bottles in the fridge or freezer?
remeber water expands so do not fill all the way up and either leave lid off or very loose or your bottle will expand in the wrong way. I like to keep mine just under 1/2 ice because then I add watter to the top. If it is all ice then you also start with less water.

Scott - nice run today!

It will be close to 20 hours-time diff of 13 hours. I am sitting here in my wet suit. I had not put it on since last year and actually couldn't remember where I stashed it after coming back from St George. After a little panic I found it and then decided I better practice getting into it.

Last day of vacation in the cape today.  There is a kennedy wedding going on right now.  Going to make our way down there shortly, apprently there are fireworks tonight.  It was cool to see all the sail boats at the beach today.  Apparently, it is Kennedy tradition to take the sail boats out before the wedding.  There were private jets flying in all day yesterday.  I think it is Patrick Kennedy.  Not sure who that is.

Anyway, I'll be glad to get home tomorrow.  It was a rest week for me anyway, but it was so difficult to stay on track with nutrition.  the two other families we vacation with don't share the same nutritional values I do, and not fault but my own, I followed and diet pretty much consisted of Beer, Sugar, Beer and more sugar.   Ughhhhhhh.  It'll be very easy for me to get back on track.  It was great to rest the legs though.  I am ready for high volume and some speed work the next 2 weeks.  First Tri is August 7th.

Other Jeff, I got back from the cape yesterday, crazy wind yesterday huh? Fried clams are a perfect training food, protein, carbs, lots of nutrients, beer has lots of vitamin b, that was why I always made sure to throw in a bottle of red wine, it has minerals and precursors or whatnot

Terry -- Good luck at your race today, let us know how it goes before you take off for Vietnam!

For me, short-ish bike, some yoga, a run and a trip to Fast Splits in Boston.

Very exciting day.

Good luck Terry!

My final day of 6 in a row working today. Have an all-employee meeting this morning, then the usual stuff. Hoping to get in a ride or swim this evening.

Tomorrow should be a good day for a longer ride (but I do want to be home for the World Cup...)

Hey all! Just wanted to check in, it's about 6am and I am watching the Tour live, having some coffee, with a small cat sitting in my lap! We are in Santa Rosa, CA and I am getting ready to race Vineman 70.3 tomorrow. Weather is cool and will be perfect on race day. Lot's of morning fog giving way to sun and mid 70's. Beautiful bike and run course through the vineyards. Did this race in '08, can't wait!

I did a sprint tri in englewood fl. The weather was prefect 80's at the start end in the 90's. Water temp was 85 and wind light. I finished 2nd in my group clydesdales with a time of 1:15:10. I don't know what my splits are yet. They haven't posted them. I know I was slow in transition I kept fumbling around with my gear. My swim was kind of a weak point for me I kept swiming into people and stopping not sure how much time it cost me but it happended at least 5 times I was never really able to get in a rhythm. I felt good on the bike I think I averaged  21-22. My run seemed ok the only set back is both my shoes came untied about a half mile into the race I never bothered to tied them it didn't seem like a good idea at the time. I can never really tell how I'm running but, based on past races this is usually where I make up time. I guess I'll wait for the splits. Overall I feel good about the race I think that my time was a personal best by about 5 minutes I have to check on that. More good new is the guy who beat me is a world championships qualifier for our age and class and he is a  beast. I now have a goal!!!!
