Subject: RE: Do you OWS alone?Swimming alone in a pool, lake or ocean is a no-no. You SHOULD never swim alone, if something happens such as a cramp, swallow some water, get attacked by a shark, etc, you should have a trained Lifeguard supervising you. That being said, I do a lot of OWS workouts alone in a lake. I try to tell someone where I am and how long I'll be but that's just so they can send a recovery crew if I don't show up for dinner. Even if you are swimming in a group of triathletes if you have trouble without a trained lifeguard in the mix there can be more that 1 person in trouble. If you have ever tried to rescue a distressed swimmer, it is not a pretty scene. Kathy had a great idea by ordering a rescue can or rescue tube to drag behind. It offers a little drag for a better workout and will be available if she has trouble or someone in her group has trouble. Swim when you can as safe as you can! Have a blast! |
