Total Time = 00m
Overall Rank = 72/120
Age Group = 40-44
Age Group Rank = 7/7
Pre-race routine:

up a few hours early - oatmeal & eagg beaters - not together of course but carb & Protein - drove there checked in - then walked around checking out the facilities - very nice club... Dave - a fellow BTer whom I had met at PP last august recognized me and introduced himself - he was volunteering - we chatted a few minutes - Nice!
Event warmup:

swam a few hundred yds to warm up
Swim
  • 10m
  • 725 yards
  • 01m 23s / 100 yards
Comments:

this I pushed a bit just to see what happens though for the entire event I am probably better served saving a little more for the bike and run
What would you do differently?:

not go out so fast
Transition 1
  • 10m
Comments:

everyone gets 10
Bike
  • 20m
  • 6 miles
  • 18.00 mile/hr
Comments:

This is where you can makeup the distance as this race is based on distance..... also I never used lifecycle bike before so it was a little weird. some of those athletes were fast! - I was OK - hit my goal of 6 miles
What would you do differently?:

More Time in the saddle
Transition 2
  • 05m
Comments:

everyone gets 5
Run
  • 15m
  • 1.38 miles
  • 10m 55s  min/mile
Comments:

I suck - but I did not stop and walk -
What would you do differently?:

maybe i can push more here if i can deal with the discomfort
Post race
Warm down:

walked a few laps on track

What limited your ability to perform faster:

too heavy, 23 years of being a smoker ;)

Event comments:

Nice venue - Vols were great
...now that results are in I'm kinda bummed.. my bike was what I expected but the run I've been working on without seemingly much improvement

Dave:

No need to be bummed my friend.  You did a tri in January in Chicago!! AND, you came in 1st in your AG in swim and 7/120..That's awesome.  You knew going in most competitors would be hardcore, and you kicked almost all their butts in the pool.  Hang your head high man..nice job.

x2 on the bumming. I'd kill to swim even 1 x 100 at that speed.
