Hey Everybody! So I just started doing Tri's last summer, completing 2 sprints. I have signed up for an Olympic in June and Timberman in August. And somedays I am very confident, somedays I am terrified! I am comfortable with my run...ok that's the part I am most confident about! Any suggesstions to calm the nerves? I have to limit my biking due to doing a marathon 6months after my knee scope and my knee isn't ready to do the long distance runs and biking quite yet (but it will be).
Understand that being nervous is natural. Everyone has nerves - whether they're new to the sport, or a seasoned veteran. The only difference with a veteran is knowing that they've already covered that distance. So, just keep plugging along, building up the ride and the run, and every so often, take a breather and look back at what you've accomplished. Doesn't hurt to put in a little "time-trial" every so often - perhaps a longer bike/run (don't worry about time ). It'll give you a little boost and help calm the nerves. Since you've run a marathon, a half IM will be fine for you. Embrace your nerves, but know that you WILL accomplish your goals. |
