Pre-race routine:

morning coffee
peanut butter on toast (thanks to todd and jenny b/c i didn't have any bread...shocking, craig, i know) :)
Event warmup:

get chip. :)
clearly i'm an amateur.

Comments:

according to garmin it was 13.23 miles at 2:17:04, a pace of 10:22/mile.

run felt great overall. miles 1-10 i was able to chat it up with teecris, keep my hr under 180, lungs felt great and legs felt pretty good. mile 8 was fantastic because robtod met us and joined us for the rest of the race. company couldn't have been better, i LOVED it. miles 10-13 were a little hairy in that i was just feeling done. thankfully robtod and teecris kept the conversation going so i had something to focus on other than the tiredness i was feeling in my legs. last 1/2 mile i was able to kick it and have a great sprint to the finish. in fact, garmin tells me that my best pace was 5:59. granted, that was only for about 100 yards, but hey, it was my first half and logging a 5:59 is very motivating. :) was a beautiful day for a 1/2. absolutely helped me to embrace the run! :) Oh, i should note that i did NOT walk at all during this race except for the water stations. very proud of myself as i absolutely thought walking was going to be a must. aid stations only and not for very long at all...very happy about that. best part though, teecris pacing me, motivating me and telling me how proud he was of me. gotta love the big brother encouragement for 2+ hours and 13.1 miles. THANK YOU TODD, you were an amazing help to me...don't know if i'll ever be able to articulate that fully!

shot block at mile 4ish.
gu at mile 9ish.
water at every station...except first one.
What would you do differently?:

at this point, nothing. kept a consistant pace and breathing felt great. ideally i'd like to get my time down into the 9's, but baby steps, right?!
Post race
Warm down:

got HUGE hugs from tri-z, alicia, todrob, robtod and teecris. tri-z was the exceptionally excited and i LOVED it. drove todrob and robtod to their car and headed back north.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

my lack of ability to run faster. :) practice practice practice.

Event comments:

got a nice surprise at mile 12ish. never expected a drink station as we had just passed one about a mile back and voila, there she was. it was a much needed bright spot to give that little extra kick for the last mile. it was excellent.
