I'm planning on going.  I will have to rent room for my family (wife and 3 out of the 4 kids).  I was planning on waiting until Jan - Feb time frame to sign-up, although I will keep an eye on the number of people signed up and jump in earlier if I have to.  I want to buy an on-sale wet-suit first, since the water is going to be cold!.  How much was the room at Shaheens Motel?

I will be there and already have my room at Shaheens. I hate to say it but you may be out of luck at Shaheens for a room, a friend called at 10 am December 1 (when they started taking reservations for that weekend) and all they had left were smoking rooms. However, there are many other places around to stay.

As far as a wetsuit goes check out www.tribonzai.com (this was posted a while back) they have wetsuits (2002) on clearance $100 to $150 bucks a pop for full or long john varieties. I got an Exterra Vortex full suit for a $100 and I think shipping was included. You really can't beat that price if they have your size.

There is also another thread on this race here: http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/forums/thread-view.asp...

Hope to see you all there.

Well then that settles it. We will definitely have to coordinate a ride or run during training. There are several people at the gym that I go to that are planning on racing the Tinman and once we get into our "official" training and the weather gets a little better we were thinking about trying some group training rudes / runs. If you are interested I will keep you up to date.

Dave,
Have you done Tupper Lake before? This will be my first time at Tupper Lake as well as the 1/2 IM distance.

This will be my third Tupper race. I did pretty good in 2003, horrible on 2004. your gym wouldn't possibly be New England health/fitness??

Yes, as I always revert to Champions. OK, so your the Dave that I met last week, Stacey introduced us on either Tue. or Thurs. morning. You were saying the bike is quite hilly, right.

Yeah,
That is my plan. Currently I am trying to build base so I can hit the training "running" (pun intended), and like you am really trying to work on stretching. I am also trying to get my nutrition on track, not that I am to bad, but for me there is always room for improvement.

Best of luck to you on the Tupper Lake Tinman. I really love that part of the Adirondacks. My family did a four day canoe trip on the Raquette river last summer. Fantastic! (Let me tell you, though, the water was cooold... and it was August) The Raquette feeds into Tupper Lake. I hope to do the sprint there next summer. Can't make it this year. We have a new baby due in mid-may, plus it's about a month early for my couch to sprint plan. If I find in '07 that I'm up for a 1/2IM, Tupper Lake is definitely the one I want to do.

I usually car camp or backpack. But there are a lot of places in Long Lake which is about 1/2 hour away.

I've had dinner here a lot. Have never stayed here but it seems like a good place.

Here's a list of other places in Long Lake. PM me if you want an opinion.
