Apache Junction, Arizona

Lost Dutchman Marathon, Inc.
Total Time = 2h 14m 36s
Overall Rank = 270/378
Age Group = 40-44
Age Group Rank = 38/57
Pre-race routine:

Little jog with the dog and a light breakfast before waking Trey to drive an hour to the race.
Event warmup:

Lots of ESCKTC huddling in the cold and dark!
Run
  • 2h 14m 36s
  • 13.1 miles
  • 10m 16s  min/mile
Comments:

This was my long run for the week at the end of recovery. The race would be more fun if it as an "A" race that I had prepared for and not done another the week before. However, as I was there for the company and had a cool kids breakfast when it was over - it was all I could hope for!
What would you do differently?:

Not sure anything as Sedona will be my race next year again in Feb, but if I am up to it, I may recover at this race again.
Post race
Warm down:

mile walk back to car with a stop for donkey photos on the way!

What limited your ability to perform faster:

As always, I started out way to fast for my pace (in an effort to keep Tanya company for a couple of miles) and that was a factor at the end. Not to mention that last "little" climb to the wall is placed in such a spot as to really inflict more pain than one would think. :)

Event comments:

I had fun. That is the real reason we do this stuff, right?

Great Race Jer. It was good to see Trey having a good time out there. The hill is a fun little part of the race. I was able to run up it both years.

I can't believe you did a half in the weekend after doing your first FULL marathon!  You are a crazy man!  Great job hanging with Tanya the first half too.

Next time, lets sit at the big kids' table at breakfast
