Who is in for any of the Long Beach Marathon events this year?

Weather is usually good and this is marathon is pretty flat and usually fast. You can even shoot a few hoops at about mile 19 over by CSULB where the local frat boys set up a net on the course and let you shoot baskets as your running by. (Not sure how to log that though)

I am in for the full Marathon, 3rd year in a row for me.

I will be running this as a Tuneup Race to kick off my Fall/Winter Marathon Season. Although it is not an "A" race, my plan is to use this race to try and dial in my Marathon Goal Pace and to get re-acquainted with racing the marathon distance after a Summer of running Triathlons.

Should be great fun

I'm looking to do a Half this year, and was thinking about Long Beach but may wind up captaining a company team for the MS ride in San Diego that weekend.

I will participate in at least one of the events. I am thinking of the bike tour followed by the 5k. If I am in shape, I may start with the bike and end with the half marathon. I know that is wishful thinking but anything is possible.

I had considered the 5K or bike ride, but Hermosa is the same weekend and I want to do that tri again. Waterdog, I hope you have a much better race than last year. That was a tough one!

Gonna be ready to start a training plan for this race soon. (Just base building now)

Should be a great race this year.

If memory serves, LB is the weekend before the Subaru Tri, so I won't be doing it. I'm definitely game for coming out and cheering everyone else on and going to lunch afterward though.

I will be running a string of 1/2 including LB.  I should be right on target for a PR by Long Beach.  Love the course, love the scenery.  Great race.  Enjoy!

We are just over 5 weeks out from race day; How is everyone doing with their training?

I know a few of you still have a Tri Season to finish up so you are probably juggling things a bit. If your doing the full, you still have 2 full weeks of training (Possibly 3) before taper time but if your doing the half, there is still plenty of time to get in some hard licks

I plan on hitting the expo briefly on Saturday for packet pickup and then driving back into town early Sunday morning for the race. (Won't be staying in town so probably won't be around much)

Maybe we can pick a time for a quick pre-race FE to wish everyone good luck. This course has a lot of little out and back sections that are great for seeing folks you know out on the course. (And I know from experience that friendly faces always seem to appear at just the right time)

Maybe we can all meet here at 6:45AM or maybe 7:00AM (Race Time is 7:30AM): (Right under the big whale at the end of the parking lot and just 100 yards from the start)

I've got a similar plan re: packet pickup.  I may be headed out to lunch in Long Beach later that day, but I'm okay with meeting under that whale at 6:45 or 7:00.  I'm planning on running this course nice and slow (for me, that's about a 2 hour finish), mostly because I'm still testing out my IT Band and not aggravating it before my marathon next month... hopefully its not too crowded at the start.
