A group of us took this guy to court to prevent him from trying to put on a race in Chelan last summer on the same dates as we had our USAT sanctioned and permited race. He had been kicked out of town the year before. He knows how to work the system (claims he is broke so we have racked up insane legal bills). He is still out there doing races (to be avoided). His new gambit is the Alterra (his invention) This is the online registration: http://www.karelo.com/enter_res.php?&BID=124His official website is www.triathlons.net where he touts Iron and Half Iron for "first timers" Very scary. He is also doing a race in Atlanta this summer. Google "Brent Komenka" for feedback from a variety of sources on what kind of races he puts on. Please send this to everyone you know.

Good info to have.

He has a sprint tri listed at Lake Lanier this summer under My First Tri/My Next Tri.

I do remember seeing a bunch of non-spammy posts awhile ago warning about that guy and his racket (with links to other message boards, news articles, etc). Looks like the OP is just out to warn that this guy hasn't gone away and is now operating under a new name, which is good to know.

With a user name like "Total Health Events" it appears that they have a commercial interest of some type. I've moderated a couple forums before and we keep a close eye on ones like this.

BTW, I googled Brent Kamenka and it sounds like the complaints are legit. Bad stuff all over the place

This post is not spam at all.

Kamenka pulled his "My First Tri" scheme in Galveston a few years ago as World Endurance Sport.  Put on a shotty unsafe race one year, then setup races, took registrations and completely bailed the next year.

One race production company tried to step in and take over (they did the best they could) and now Keith Jordan has come in to turn the weekend into the Lone Star Triathlon Festival and does a fabulous job.

What he said.  His 2005 race in Galveston was MY first tri.  The sad thing is, with a bunch of first-timers, we don't know any better.

Not spam at all. Lynne is with a race production organization with a great track record in the Pacific northwest.

Under most conditions, a post like this would qualify as spam, but this I consider to be a public service announcement from a knowledgeable source.

I know from validating races that the My FIrst Tri/My Next Tri races are not able to be validated.
