Me! Me! Me! Slowly climbing myself out of the death spiral. Would like to at least keep up with the workout schedule so that I can go home every night with a high. Oh, and I would like more traffic to my blog.

6/21!!! 2 and a bit months. Here we go...
Training for just a relay sprint to start out... no chuckles please... But I have the bike portion, 16 miles, and have planned in the next week or two to try out the clipless pedals thing for the first time. Now you can chuckle as thoughts of a guy falling over dis-gracefully dance in your head. Anyways, in my way of this spring weight loss challenge/tri lie an alumni softball game, with a side of hamburgers, hot dogs and beer... and a bachelor party weekend with a second side of hamburgers, hot dogs and beer.. Hopefully I'll make it through mostly unscathed!

My activity level on this forum is nearly zero to this point - but I'd love to join a challenge. I want to run a sprint tri some time in the fall or next year but for now I'd just like to get my bodyfat down in the 12% range.

I am currently sitting at 220lb, low 20% range. 40" waist. I carry a larger than average amount of muscle for around here - former powerlifter/football player. I'm not interested in stripping all of that off so there will be more strength training in my program than is customary here.

Ok, everyone. I'm new but this seems like a really great site.  Lots of positive stuff.  I'd be honored to join the challenge.  282 now.....slite changes in diet and training....250 is not impossible.  I have found triathlon training to be very interesting.  Not just the same old go to the gym and do the same thing over and over.   swim.......bike........run....makes it interesting.

See ya, Mark

Alright!  The more the merrier!!

So I guess we should weigh in every Monday and post progress.  Feel free to send inspires to people to encourage them.  And chatting here is always fun   Any other suggestions to make this a great and productive challenge are welcome!

Monday weigh in works for me...Mark, don't sweat the first tri...I did my first one back on March 8th at 270 lbs.  You can do it, and it's not as intmidating as I thought it was going to be.    I would like to be in the 220's by fall, but I'm determined to take it off slow.  If any of you really want to be aware of what you eat, log your nutrition on your training log.  It has made a huge difference in what I eat.  I'm curious to see what I weigh on Monday morning.  My workouts are getting much better.  It's not stroke, stroke, burp! or pedal, pedal, burp! then stride, stride, burp!

So I guess whoever log in the earliest on Monday shall start a thread and post a his/her initial weight and goal. How does that sound?

Or do you guys prefer splitting into 2-3 teams instead of one big giant group?

Hi there,

I would like to join in too if I can. I have 2 sprints scheduled for this summer - my first!! I currently weigh 174 and would like to get down to around 150. I started at 288 about 2 years ago, so I have come far, but I still have a little way to go and could really use the support and help of everyone! I think this will really be a great help.

I would like to join in as well. I am currently doing the Aprils Biggest Loser Challenge but I want to join this one too since it is going to June 21. It will keep me honest! I weighed in at 146.0 this past Monday morning, and I am hoping to get down to 135.

I'm interested!

Today, I weighed in at 168.  I would like to lose 10 pounds (assuming we go to 6/21).

I could use the motivation of having to check in every week.

I would love to be a part of this group! Since I am new to all of this and not sure exactly all of what this entails I guess the best thing is to jump right in.  I am 5'10 (5'11 on good days) and 220. I am hoping to use you guys as a nice motivational/held accountable group. I am starting small and hoping for at least 10 lbs but the more the merrier! I tend to get caught in the numbers game, and disappointed when I don't loose as much as I wanted to. Realistic goals and support!

Go Everyone!

Hi everyone,

I would also love to join if I'm not too late.  I'm 25 and live in Minnesota. I currently weigh 140 lbs and would like to be 125.  I have had two boys in the last 20 months (the baby is 4 months now) and I was up to 220 while pregnant.  I have lost all this weight since December 7th.  January 2nd I joined a gym and signed up for 2 triathlons, June 1st and a longer one August 24th.  My goal is to finish both while having fun, and losing weight in the process. I never exercised in high school or college and smoked a lot.  I never dreamed of 140 so now that I made it I needed to refocus my goal and maybe 125 is attainable (I never thought I would say those words).

I am  currently having a dinner/weigh in on Thursday nights with some family and friends and have been doing that for 8 weeks and I have lost 21 lbs during that time.  I think posting on a board like this would help me to continue as I am starting to cheat horribly.  It is almost like I have no self control anymore with sweet stuff.  I never ever ever even ate sweet stuff before this new endeavor, even while pregnant.  Now it is all I can think about-candy bars, ice cream, buttercream frosting, sugar cookies, pancakes, waffles, cereal, etc.  I just can't control it.  Maybe this will help!  I'm exicted to get to know everyone better.

I can't imagine having time to train for even a 5k with a toddler and an infant. That's tough.

Starting small is a good way to look at it. I feel the same way about the scales & the actual weight loss. The more I get on the scale & do see movement, the more frustrated I get & then I think what is the point... and then I quit. This is definitely accountability through this challenge. I've got a lot of work to do, so I definitely need all the help I can get!

Hi Jen!!  So glad you're joining us!

Do you think we should have some sort of spreadsheet or table to help keep track or to help motivate each other?  I've never done a weight loss challenge before....  I should really learn how to do these myself

But that's not the reason I'm glad you're doing this with us -- you're a great motivator!

Wouldn't the start weigh-in be a good time to pig out? Inflate the beginning number a bit?

BTW, may not have time to post tomorrow:

Today I am 220lb and 23.5% bodyfat according to my handheld bioimpedance meter.

6/21 is roughly ten weeks. I'll put in for a goal of 210 and 20% (if I did my math right).

That would have been a good idea, but I posted my start weight last week

Weighed in this morning: 146, down 2 pounds.

I started a new thread for today's weigh in.

Some people will be posting their initial weight, some like me may want to post their progress in the last week

This is a very relaxed challenge as far as rules go, so if you want to join the challenge, it's not too late!!  End date: June 21.
