Man, why can't I say no to work? They dangle a few extra quid in front of my face and I drop what I'm doing and come in. I've got to get this paper done...but I've also got to pay the rent.

*sigh*

I really hope I get this interview for a "grown up" job. Paycheck to paycheck sucks, true story.

Hate to break it to you, but most of us "grown-ups" are paycheck to paycheck too.  You pretty much spend what you make.   Don't count on life getting any easier any time soon.

HAPPY MONDAY!!!!!

I just got laid off about a month ago, but have an interview for a great (I think) job on Wednesday. It's funny how when I'm out of work, I get excited thinking about the next job. Then when I get it and I'm working, I wish I was unemployed again! And yeah, paycheck to paycheck. Totally get that. I'm trying to enjoy my "time off" right now, live in the moment and all that. All the free time is certainly helping my training, though!

ugh, getting laid off sucks. I got "let go" about a month ago as well. I had been working your standard retail shtick to help pay the rent and the uni bills, and I thought I was doing really well. Got pulled in for my months review and got let go . It was a huge blow to the ego at the time.

I really like my new job, because I'm back doing what I know: lifeguarding. It's one of those things that's always been there for me, I've always been able to make money at it. And this new employer has been really enthusiastic about me being there, and is really enthusiastic about the fact that I live 5 minutes from their other facility, and that I'm a native english speaker (never knew that skill was so marketable).

I guess I'm just anxious to be paid a salary. I'm kinda sick of wage work. And I want to get paid to do stuff with my degree(s). I just applied for two different "grown up" jobs, one here in Scotland and one back in the states....interviews would be nice.

last figure I heard was 70% of Americans live paycheck to paycheck.

I've been paycheck to paycheck free since June '06!

And you're how old?  Cheer up, when you get to be my age, these days will seem like a fun time on the job.  If it sucks now, imagine how "good" it will be in 20 years.
