Snakes, Lepto, now Caniru fish acting as catheders.  The subject matter must change or I'll never swim again.  The biathalon is looking alot better now.

Yes, I agree. No more talk about snakes.

It fits the tone of the day, though. Last night my cat was annoying me by jumping onto the head of the bed and looking up toward the ceiling. He likes to chase those Asian ladybugs and now that it's warming up, we get them in the house now and then.

So it was surprising this morning when I flipped the lights on and saw, not a docile little ladybug, but a GIANT SPIDER on the ceiling. It was some kind of wolf spider, about 2 1/2 inches across (ok, so it had long legs, but STILL). Who knows how long it had been there?

Oh man, what if there are those giant fishing spiders on Lake Springfield...

You all need to stop talking about Lake Springfield!  I have my entry form all filled out in front of me, but I'm starting to freak out thinking about the Lake.  Before today, I was just thinking about cold, dark, dirty water......  (NOT snakes, spiders, .....).  I guess it's motivation to swim faster Smile

I'm with abake. The line of demarcation is forming in the sand. This separates the truly dedicated from the wanna-bees. Are you going to face your fears, or stay at home? Who's with me?

I just signed up, I'm in for Stoneman!

I see this website shows the Stoneman race is on Sat 7/26, however, the Stoneman site says the race is on Sun 7/27.  I have asked whomever supports this website to look into this matter and fix the information.

Yeah MO3!!

I wonder if the discrepancy in dates is due to the fact that the kids' triathlon is actually on Saturday the 26th, while the Stoneman and Iron Abe are on Sunday?

Hey! I just finished my first triathlon today! ( Rodney T. Miller Lakeside).  And I got a flyer on my car about this triathlon... I know its only a couple weeks away, but I'm thinking of signing up for it for my second triathlon. The one I did today was a fair bit longer than this one, so no worries there. I'm from Decatur, so I'd just drive up the morning of.  Is it a good race? Should I sign up?

I don't know if it's good or bad because it will be my first triathlon, but I can tell you it has been around for a long time and the organizers are very experienced. I volunteered last year as a course marshal and would suggest allowing plenty of time to get parked and situated as its a popular race. Hope to see you there!

Hi Trinoob!  How did you do at Rodney's triathlon?  I was there with my daughter as a volunteer at the entrance into transition.  I should have asked you what you were going to wear so I could have cheered you on!

I am doing the Stoneman too -- you need to be there

I did alright. I didn't place real well. But I had fun.  I've signed up now for this one, so I'll be there next weekend!  I volunteered last  year at the Lakeside triathlon, so that's why I decided to do it this year. Yay! But ive been slacking on my training lately...too caught up in goin off to college soon.  But i'm trying to stay on track!

No need to be nervous! You can do it!

We should try and gather all the BT'ers for a picture.

Maybe we can all assemble in front of the Beach House afterwards for a group shot.

Great idea Joe and Anne on the picture! We should craft a quick sign to hold up so BTers recognize the picture gathering spot?Is anyone picking up packets on Satuday?I'm a little nervous about the race, too. Mostly about the unknown. I know what to expect on the bike and run course, but the swim is a totally new experience for me.

Does anyone know how hilly the course is? Just wondering..

And no, I'm probably not ready. lol. I've been sooo lazy since the Rodney Lakeside Tri =/  I'll survive though. Also, I'm from Decatur, but do you think I should drive over and pick my packet up sat? Its only my second tri, and I'm afraid of only picking everything up on race morning. Like there's something I'll miss...

I would not worry about hills... Its Central Illinois! There are a couple little rollers on the bike course but nothing to worry about.
