Great idea Joe and Anne on the picture! We should craft a quick sign to hold up so BTers recognize the picture gathering spot?Is anyone picking up packets on Satuday?I'm a little nervous about the race, too. Mostly about the unknown. I know what to expect on the bike and run course, but the swim is a totally new experience for me.

AB do you have access to a plotter that we can hijack?

You will do great! Just think if you place in your AG this time you get a piece of stone vs expired coupons!

We have several plotters to choose from.  Some of them even work.  I could cobble something together.

So, I can't find really any directions to get this place.  I'm coming from Decatur, and all I can find on the website is how to get to springfield in general, which is easy enough.  I know it's by the Lindsey Bridge, and Lake springfield boat house, but I don't know where those are, other the the south side of springfield.  If anyone could help me out with some more specific directions, I'd really appreciate it. Maybe it is on the side, but I might just be missing it.

Anne, you rock on the sign! JH, you crack me up. I have NO expectations of finishing anywhere NEAR the top in AG. There's tough competition out there. I just want to finish without being dunked, run over, or trampled by the real athletes.I'm with trinoob, I'm picking my packet up Sat. I think its in the afternoon, but I'll have to check the website again to be sure. I'll be at the kids race on Sat morning, too. My neice is doing it.I can't remember from last year, but don't they have Lindsey bridge blocked to traffic early? I think we have to come into the park from WLS side? I can't see your map out here in the woods, it's probably on there.

In case it is unclear on the Google map - (I couldn't see where the Beach House is marked, but then I am illiterate when it comes to maps)

Take 72 to I-55/I-72 (south to St. Louis)

Take the exit to East Lake Shore Drive

Stay on E. Lake Shore until you come to Long Bay Drive (Center Park). There is a little zoo right there. It will be on your right.

Turn onto Long Bay Drive and just follow it.  The Beach House will be on your right.  Go there for packet pickup

I saw a bunch of cyclists out on the New City road previewing the Oly course.  The course is marked....FYI.

meetupHow about if we meet to the right of the main entrance to the Beach House, as depicted in this not-to-scale rendering? I will put the sign in this general vicinity.  I guess the main question is what time? Right after awards?

The people in that diagram are like 12 feet tall and an inch wide. I am pretty sure it is not to scale.

Yeah, we'll have to wait for you at the finish line. [insert rolling eyes smiley]

Trinoob, MO3 and Writebrained --- just so you know, Jen and I had NOTHING to do with Joe getting hammered at the Fat 5K.  We were minding our own business.

x2 on the eye rolling. Like you aren't going to lap us! Anne, which stick figure is me? I've always wanted to be taller and have smaller feet.If any race deserves a little beverage tipping, our first triathlon does! But I can pretty much guarantee you it wont be Schlitz!

The figures are interchangeable! I wanted to put more people in there but there just was no room, plus I am at work and had to keep minimizing Photoshop everytime someone walked by!

I was thinking that those who pick up their packets on Saturday can post there bib numbers on this forum.  That way we can all push each other along in the race.

Please don't take the picture until I am there.  I really do think that I will be one of the last finishers in the Stoneman.  I will be real easy to see, "the little short guy finishing while gasping for air but with a smile".

Wardoatri, don't worry about being close to the end, I will be bringing up the rear. Good idea about posting the bib numbers.  I think I will write my BT name on the back of my shirt.

How do the swim waves work, anyway? Who goes first? Men, women? Is it done by age group?

meetupOK everyone, here is the scaled-down version of the sign that will be taped or otherwise secured to the Beach House.  Why don't we just kind of show up after the awards?

Best wishes to all of you for a great race and I hope I get to meet you face-to-face!

 Anne
